Stretch 4s still play in the paint. Look at someone like C WAt. He was a stretch 4 at IU and played some in the paint and on the perimeter. Just look at Malik Williams, who we were recruiting and who Moore put up 20 & 12 against, he plays inside and out. I expect the same from Moore.
-
Also on Inside the Hall or somewhere that Chuck Martin was recruiting him kind of incognito for months as to not draw the attention of other programs to Moore.
-
Over at Inside the Hall Alex spoke with a member of the staff or someone close to the staff( he didn't name names) that said the staff is beyond excited for this commitment. According to the same source Crean believes that Moore is the most undervalued player he has every recruited and secured a commitment from.

True, but there are too many right now. They didn't always have so many and games were broadcasted just fine
-
My only wish is that we could limit the amount of media timeouts. Watching any college game gets ruined by so many tv timeouts

Tom Crean joining The Vertical this Thursday night.

I have been watching the whole time and Crean has been awesome on the whole show. I have loved his analysis of all the players. He has also had some great stories on some of the players (Thon Maker and Malachi Richardson being two of them). He said Malachi Richardson told the staff he was coming to IU on his last visit there. But Coach Crean has held his own and been the most informative and fun to watch on the show. -
I'm worried about in-state recruiting.

I never said anything personal and I never mentioned you by name or specifically... What I said was "a bunch of people argue that we should only recruit payers from the Midwest". So technically I didn't put words in your mouth, you put words in my mouth hahah That can't be argued because there are people who honestly believe that. None of my post was a personal attack or anything. Again I was saying anything about you, but about the logic of location and whatnot. Didnt mention you or anything so please don't do the same with me -

So a bunch of people argue that we should only recruit payers from the Midwest. April was a player from the Midwest, just happened to go play prep basketball for a year in Arizona and all of a sudden he isn't from the midwest. This is why this whole idea of "only recruit one area" is flawed. -

When contemplating this issue of instate recruiting I always like to think back to when I went and saw Bob Knight speak a few years ago and he said that one of his biggest regrets was not recruiting more nationally. He said he had assistants that wanted him to go to Florida, California, New York, etc and he never did. He said he regrets not doing that and only staying locally for so long. The reason kids don't understand the tradition of Indiana Basketball? A lot of high school kids now days have only seen a struggling IU program growing up. Im 24 and understand the tradition because my dad is a lifelong fan and I grew up hearing the stories and watching tapes of games, etc. Any random kid (even in Indiana) that grows up without an IU fan as a parent would have no idea of this because all they might know is Coach Knight throwing a chair across the floor, the lack of success by Mike Davis, the shady business of Kelvin Sampson, and the drama that has surrounded Crean's career here. That doesn't sound like success when looked at by up and coming high school kids. Doesn't matter where the kid is from, we haven't had long lasting success in decades so that is what keeps kids away -

Jeremiah April was from Illinois. He had been playing at a prep school in Arizona when we recruited him. -

Maybe you only know about the meth problem in indiana because you are here, but believe me its just as much a problem all across the midwest. Illinois, Ohio, and Iowa are among the states being taken over by this problem. A simple google search goes a long way on this topic. But this has nothing to do with the actual topic of this thread so I won't say anything more -

Except that Iowa also has a huge meth problem, all states, towns, etc have some sort of drug issue if you really want to look at it that way. I doubt players really care about the regional drug of choice or are really affected by it -

The super regionals aren't part of the College World Series. Its like a play in series. Last year IU did make it to the CWS after beating FSU in the Super Regionals. -

Well as far as football goes, IU has never had any big success in football, so its hard to sell the program to recruits. Wilson has had marginal success. Not all his fault because he has dealt with injuries but when the surrounding area schools have more of a history of success, its easier to get recruits buy in. What are other recognizable sports? Football and Basketball. The baseball team seems to recruit very well and doesn't struggle for recruits, same with mens soccer. -

There was JUST a thread about this that died a week ago. We understand people aren't happy with his in state recruiting but that horse has been beat to death about ten times -
Woodson was talking about Morgan playing the 4 not OG….

Billy Donovan isn't the best example because he of his incident with the Orlando Magic a few years back. Plus Cal has already coached in the NBA before. -
I think this last year showed that we shouldn't count people out before the season starts. We had two freshman start and Holt played really good minutes for us. Holt was forced into the lineup early because of injuries/suspensions but as of now, OG and Morgan will be forced into quick playing time because of DD and HMP being kicked off the team.

They are both being projected as 2nd round/undrafted -
Several of the owners in the NBA want to boost NBA D league pay and whatnot. The NBA D league is broadcasted live to Youtube and is on NBA TV for all to see. I feel that in the next few years all this stuff will just continue to pick up speed. I would really like to see the NBA and the NCAA come together and work something out to help both sides
-
And none are choosing to go overseas and make good money either. No one is being "forced" to go to college.
-
I didn't say anything about about limiting options….. Im just saying that everyone seems to forget that the D league is right there. Im also interested to see where this goes
-
There is another option: the NBA D league doesn't have an age limit. They pay isn't all that great, but players have to learn that they have to earn the big contracts.
-
Honestly players who don't want to go to college should just go straight to the D League. They won't make as much money in the D League, but they will have tons of exposure to NBA scouts. On a side note I honestly don't believe that there is this huge problem of kids being "forced" to go to college. Only a small number of high schoolers have actually gone to play overseas. The only ones (Brandon Jennings and Mudiay) went overseas because they didn't qualify for college. If kids were actually being "forced" to go to college even if they didn't want to, there would be A LOT more of them going to play in Europe or in the D League
