you can be a clutch player without hitting a game winning shot in my opinion. To me a clutch player makes winning plays at the end of games. Melo continuously makes winning plays and shots in the last 3 min of games. Just because he had never hit a game winner until the wisky game dosent mean he was never clutch. An example in the Maryland game at Ohio st Maryland was 2-14 from 3 and then in the last 2 minutes melo assists on a 3 and then hits a 3 himself when the game was on the line. Even though hose were not game winners it was a clutch shot and assist. they go 2-2 from 3 when they needed it. the game after melo hit the game winner agaisnt wisky I watched him miss the one against northwestern that would of won it in regulation. While yogi has not hit an actual game winner at his time at iu, he has hit enough big shots for me to have confidence in him with the game on the line. Georgetown his freshman year he hit a clutch shot in overtime with the shot clock winding down to help win the game. The next year against Georgetown he hit 2 big 3's at end of regulation to even give us a chance to win that game in ot. The first wisky game with game tied at 53 he nails the pull up go ahead jumper before he hit clutch free throws and even in wisky game we lost he scored our last 8 points of regulation including the go ahead 3 with a minute to go just sucks we couldn't get a defensive stop. While he has missed what seems like a lot of actual game winners in the past 2 years I like the fact he is not scared of the moment and the basketball gods reward him with some game winners in March when it will count

yeah melo himself said it was his first game winner and always wondered what it would feel like to hit one

agree with most of this list but I would give cuse a pass because I believe most of their losses came with boeheim was suspended. I think that shows the importance of a high level coach ( I don't like to admit he is a good coach) I would add nc state to your list as well

Interesting to find out from the journey on the big ten network that melo trimbles game winning shot against wisky was his first game winner in his career

they are not too 25 but you should watch the last 8 minutes of the underrated Colorado (rpi 25) team vs California (rpi 33) it's on fox sports 1

Indiana v. Minnesota - Post Game Thread

can they use the team 2 years ago for their argument? The game that reminded me of this Minnesota game. Penn state was down 8 with 3 min to go and came back and took the lead and we never recovered. This years team lost the lead with under 3 to Minnesota and recovered -
What would be on your IU Basketball Bucket List?
Uspshoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
When we finished our basement i had iu basketball and college basketball in general in my mind. while the theater room isn't dedicated to iu basketball( it's the tv show lost themed), the room before you enter the theater is full of iu posters, pictures, and flags ( I even got a small iu Christmas tree and decorations for the room during the holidays). During construction of the theater room I had the construction workers put in 2 extra cable outlets on each side my projection screen. Basically during the college basketball season I turn my theater room into a basketball room. I watch 3 games at a time unless iu is playing then I only have the iu game on the 136 inch movie screen. I'm 37 and still to this day on game day I rock the candy stripe pants and classic warmup shirt. Regardless of our record or who we play I still get nervous before watching almost every game. I got my love for iu basketball from my dad and I will do my best to pass that love of iu basketball to my 4 year old son( who has candy stripes and my 2 year old daughter who has candy stripe overalls). If I could have one bucket list thing regarding iu basketball happen, I'm sure other people who have lost a father that shared a bond over iu basketball would have the same wish ( I lost my dad 6 years ago) While I have been to a lot of games at assembly hall i never attended one with my dad. I would want to attend one game with him at assembly hall or watch one last iu game with him in my basement. I'm not sure if this is what you were wanting -
The shockers are going to get a lower seed then they deserve because of van vleet' injury early in the season. The higher seeded team that will have to play them in the first round is not going to be happy on selection Sunday

In my opinion I think some people looked at Minnesota's record at 0-9 in the big and just thought minny should roll over and not compete. Instead of just looking at the box score record, if you have watched Minnesota compete the last 3 games you could see that they are a better team then there record. for example I feel Minnesota is a better team than northwestern right now despite the records. Minnesota has at least been competitive in most of their recent games while northwestern has been blown out in their last 3 games. Every team in the country is going to go through a stretch of games where they are not as sharp defensively. 35 plus games is a lot of games to keep locked in with no breakdowns. The best defensive team in basketball the last 3 years (Virginia) in my opinion has had stretches this year where they were terrible on defensive ( coach Bennetts words not mine) but against Louisville they found their mojo again. Kansas couldn't contain the dribble pentatration against Kentucky last night and were terrible on that side of the ball ( self's words not mine). Self saw this and the hall of fame coach made an adjustment that won the game ( switching to a triangle in 2). I guess my point is it's going to take more then a bad defensive half against a desperate winless big 10 team for me to worry this team has reverted back to the team that let a team with an offensive efficiency in the 300's ( kennasaw st) score over 1.1 points per possession.

why not their own message boards call him mediocre and a terrible in game coach. not saying I wouldn't take him over our current staff though. I would assume if you are paying 3 plus million you should expect a national title ring on your return right? I will admit it might be a stretch to put him on that list but at the end of the day if u make that amount of money in my opinion u need to win the big one not just get there

you could sign up in a couple places for a gig like that. West Virginia, Ohio st are a couple other places you could apply. If you wanted to take a 300,000 pay cut from the 3 mil you could apply to Georgetown or Villanova ( unless you think dominating in a weak conference and early exits from the tounament are not mediocre)

It's about time for melo time (aka winning time) to take over
-
competitive team in year 4 not year 3. In year 3 they finish last in the big 10 (3-15)and finished with 12-20 overall
-
Just shows how hard it is to win on the road. Maryland slap this team around by 35 on their home court and now they are in a dog fight with an Ohio st team that is having a hard time scoring. Maryland up 2 with around 11 to play.
-
that fine as long as you know the big 10 was good that year, you can say all you want about his coaching
-
if Michigan would of beat us on the last game of the year there would of been a 4 way tie for first that year. Not another dominate team? 8 of 12 teams made the tourney that year. Ohio st was a 2 seed, Michigan st was a 3 seed and Michigan was a 4 seed ( they were a 4 seed in the NCAA tournament but a 5 seed in their own conference tournament) in my opinion that shows how tough the big 10 was that year. Again I have no problem with you saying crean under achieved when he got to the NCAA tounament but to try and diminish the accomplishment of winning the stacked big10 that year is wrong
-
http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2013/conferencerpi Number 1 rpi conference that year
-
lol weak big 10, that year was considered one of the stronger years for the big 10. Since the big 10's 5th place team was national runner up to Louisville that year. I have no problem saying iu faded down the stretch that year but to say the big 10 was weak that year is a head scratcher in my opinion

Indiana v. Minnesota - Post Game Thread

I think that just shows the 2 teams are pretty evenly matched. michigan at least has had a chance to play the top teams in the big 10 so by default you would have to take their win against Maryland over our win against wisky. its not iu's fault the big 10 decided to back load our schedule. this terrible Minnesota team gave both teams a challenge on their respective home floors. Michigan won by 5 and we won by 6. I'm excited to see this team get a chance to improve their resume and seeding with the upcoming schedule. No place to hide 6 of the last 9 against rpi top 30 teams. These are the games we as fans should want to see -

maybe he was comparing top 100 wins. They are 2-5 against the rpi top 100 http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/teamId/130 We are 5-3 against rpi top 100 with another loss to Unlv (107) http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/teamId/84 -
Richmond and George Washington heading to double ot
-
at least Ohio st drove to the basket instead of dribble up top and launch a contested 3
-
illinois and that was a terrible last play of regulation

@gregrosenstein Maryland fans are brutal. Though I'm guessing they treat in-state opponents differently. Nice jab to Albers
