  3. I can only speak for me but I haven't penciled in a loss at home to Maryland. We will most likely be favored by Vegas and ken Pom in that game. I have less confidence in the Illinois game then that one. Losing games like the penn st game unfortunately happen to teams every year. Heck I'm still not over the loss to a 4-14 in conference Nebraska team and 6-12 Minnesota team at home cody's freshman year. That year we finished 11-7 ( guess what record won a share of the big 10 that year 13-5). Sorry if I brought up bad memories for anyone else
  4. no one said they were a decent team just more competitive then their 0-13 record
  5. @jeffrabjohns Indiana signee @DDavis2016 plays his final regular-season home game tonight. No. 2 @WeAreOverland hosts No. 10 Cherokee Trail.
  6. i would rather be 0-13 and have a pulse and play top teams in a conference to close games then be 0-13 and get blasted by 50 by Purdue and over 20 by an Illinois team. No one said they were world beaters just a better team then their record. I agree they are still bad just not as bad as this 0-13 record shows but if you just want to look at the record and not not watch them on the court that is your own personal preference but for people who just watch a ton of basketball other than iu games and other top level games I would hope they could tell a difference in Rutgers 0-13 and Minnesota 0-13.
  7. they beat Clemson and just took a top 5 team in Iowa to the very end on the road. Hopefully you have watched them more then the 2 games they have played us to form an opinion. In my opinion Wayne is right they are a way better team then their record represents
  8. which was my original point that Rutgers and Minnesota are historically bad in conference which is bringing down the conference rpi. Maybe compared to years past big 10 conferences it might not be as strong but at the end of th day for this year in college basketball season 7 of 14 teams are projected in the field. With 3 top 10 teams and 2 others in the top 25. If the ap poll isn't your thing then 7 teams in the rpi top 52 and 8 total in rpi top 100, if rpi isn't your thing then 5 teams in the ken Pom top 25 with 10 total teams in kenpom top 100. I would say that is not bad for a conference considered not to be good but this is just my opinion
  9. 4 of 12 that year which is 33 percent of the conference, this year 4 of 14 so far this year which is around 28 percent of the conference. So in a year where the big 10 was 1 in rpi 33 percent of the league was under .500 move ahead to this year where the big 10 is "just not good" only 25 percent of the league is under .500
  10. but yet half the league is projected in the field. The year iu won the big 10 outright. The big 10 had 6 teams under .500 in conference and was the number 1 rpi conference
  11. these 2 are the single reason why the big 10 conference rpi is lower then normal. 7 teams as of today are projected into the field (half the league) but overall the big 10 is 6thin rpi even behind the sec. Edit: big 10 is 5th 1 spot ahead of sec
  12. i would hope that more high level coaches will have more interest in this job when it becomes available in the future than they did in 2008
  13. now? We have been the definition of mediocrity for the last 20 years
  14. washinigton st which is even worst then Washington
  15. not from what I have seen from Lsu this year I would welcome that matchup
  16. Bad teams just find ways to choke away games. Wake had the ball up 1 with 11 secs to go in ot and can't inbounds the ball. Pitt and wake heading to 2 ot
  17. I think I have counted 6 moving screen calls in this Michigan vs Ohio st
  18. I saw this on Illinois loyalty site and thought it was interesting to see the percentages [attachment=3413:image.png]

  20. @jonrithstein Virginia basketball. A thing of beauty. @jeffgoodman What Tony Bennett has done in the ACC the last 3 years is remarkable. 42-8 record. In a league with K, Roy, Pitino, Boeheim.
  21. you might be right but man I could get used to being 24th in turnover percentage per pocessions and 2nd in defensive points per game It will be interesting to see if his style changes now that he is successful and will be bringing in higher level talent. I think I could live with 71 points per game if we only gave up 59
  22. have you watched Virginia play a lot? From the games I have watched it seems to me they have no problem running and playing fast when they have to. Bo Ryan went to back to back final 4 with his system and if you think the reason they lost the national championship game because of the style of basketball they play I can't help you. There have been articles written that to be a national title contender you have to at least have a top 25 offense and defense. Bennetts last 3 years. 2014- off 21, def-5, 2015-off-24, def-1, 2016- off-12, def-9. Yea please sign me up
  23. I will take a coach with a the 12th adjusted offense and the 9th adjusted defense anyday regardless of what style they play but that just me
  24. a lot of time has past since that happened. A chance to bring glory back to a historically blue blood program and more money could be reasons for him to come. I personally would love him as coach
