Still most on here thought the roster was crap and poorly put together with mid major players and played the second toughest B1G conference schedule and he was still first 4 out in a year where 6 teams in the B1G made the sweet 16 and 2 are in the Final 4

You worried about the optics of what the rest of college basketball thinks of IUs roster?

By we you really mean you people shouldn’t be shocked once Pandora’s box was opened other schools besides the “basketball” schools would take advantage of the rules in place. Indiana University isn’t the only school with rich alumni. Their billionaires have decided to throw money around in this new era. Maybe something changes and IUs rich alumni start treating it like a hobby and throws money away on kids with no return investment.

Depends what other schools are willing to go. Sounds like BYU is one of those schools that will be involved. Florida and Michigan as well

Also shows the Indiana high school coaches that the Indiana basketball coach is back to recruiting and making Indiana kids a priority. Optics of that would be nice for a coach starting his second year

I think if there is mutual interest you have to push hard. Both guards from Notre Dame. One is a Mr basketball and the other was a 5 star guard that went elsewhere the first time around. If you are paying for hired guns each year my opinion the kids from the state might play for more then money represented the home state team. That’s Miamis coaches philosophy. Recruit high school kids and then focus in the portal on kids from Florida and Miami

Yep. For some big gap between the 2 however for me after watching every Iowa and IU game in conference the gap just wasn’t that big. Key one here would be head to head. McCollum won that. But for him to go 10-10 against the 10 out of 18th schedule compared to DeVries going 9-11 against the 2nd hardest B1G schedule doesn’t move the needle for me. Losing to 2 teams 138 + on the road within that schedule was alarming. I think his system allows him to be in every game he will coach. I also think his system will allow lower teams to stick around and be venerable for an upset. it is what it is. McCollum had the better year but for me and only my opinion it wasn’t by the landslide most on here think it was or should be

For some definitely agree the gap was way big because of the importance of the ncaa tourney for most.
