  1. UE transfer Ryan Taylor would be a great addition—6’6” guard that shoots 42 percent from 3 and 86 percent from free throw line. Plus he is originally from Gary Indiana. Imagine him and Romeo in the back court? 2 big guards to go with Phinisee and Green and Durham. If McRob gets a jumper—watch out. Our front court will be ok if Juwan comes back and Davis is healthy as Smith will make a big leap and Race should also be ready to contribute. Future looks bright—let’s get Romeo and Taylor and call it a class... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  19. In light of the recent recruiting/corruption allegations and revelations—I am no longer confident Romeo will commit to IU. I guess I did not realize how much of a cesspool college basketball recruiting has become. I was at IU in the 80’s —when many or even most schools did not cheat. It was an honor and privilege for kids who got to be Indiana Mr. Basketball to choose from the best programs in college basketball—including IU. If —as some are suggesting and as I am starting to suspect that it is now a bidding war for top recruits —that could explain how these non-basketball schools are suddenly landing 5 Star players. If—and it is still a big if—Romeo and his family are in on that—I don’t want IU to be part of that. Let him go to Vandy. I still hold out hope he would not be swayed by money as plenty of that will be coming his way in the NBA. He is an Indiana legend and role model for thousands of young Hoosiers across the state. I hope he remembers that not only when he is signing autographs for all those kids who look up to him but also in the recruiting process. It’s not too late for Romeo and IU to do the right thing in this case. I hope they both do.......whether that means we get him or we don’t. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  20. Sorry—just makes me sick. Remember our past Indiana kids who did not come in nationally ranked who played their hearts out and their butts off for IU? Like—Calbert Cheaney —Evansvillle, IN —from broken leg to all time Indiana and Big Ten leading scorer Brian Evans—Terre Haute, IN —tall and slow—could not jump—became Big Ten POY. Michael Lewis—Jasper IN —-red headed fireball-became IU all time assists leader until Yogi broke his record Tom Coverdale—Noblesville—IN not so athletic but tough as nails-led us to National Championship game on a gimpy foot Screw the National rankings and Give me some more of these tough, hard-nosed Indiana kids to sprinkle in with our national recruits and let’s build something. We’ve got hi b-ball IQ kids—leaders and shooters in Indiana. Let’s get them here again. We don’t have to cheat to win. There is a better and more satisfying way! 21. This all just makes me sick. We all knew the cheating was bad but I did not think it was this bad. The more of this that breaks the more I start wondering if basically EVERY major college program is cheating to some extent? It’s a gotta keep up with the competition attitude. If they are going to pay 5 Stars where does it end? My guess is many 4 stars and some 3 stars are on the take as well. What a message this sends to our kids. The whole system needs an overhaul but how do you keep it from happening or how do you punish it when everybody is doing it? As an old school —law and order—guy —I say you do it by making an example of some of the big name coaches and programs. The NCAA pounds it’s chest and hammers schools for things like charity calendars, phone calls, and bumper stickers, but turns a blind eye to academic fraud and all this cheating. Disgraceful. The top schools get their hands slapped and smaller schools get hammered. Some are untouchables. I am now concerned that IU will be drug into this as well and it sickens me. But—if we did it —we deserve to get punished too. It used to be an honor to go to a blue blood basketball school on a full ride and play ball. Now you have to pay them six figures and they don’t have to get an education either. Wow. Can’t believe what college basketball has become. It is no longer for the love of the game—it’s a business. So IF there is a bidding war going on for Romeo like some are suggesting-let him go to Vandy. I’d rather play with Indiana kids who want to be at IU. I want to win as bad as anyone but I do not believe in winning at ALL COSTS. Even if it means we will have to do it the old fashioned way with 3 and 4 Star players who are honest and hard working and we will only challenge for championships every 4 years—fine. That was the Knight model and it was the most enjoyable era of Indiana basketball. We knew back then it was us against the cheaters like UK and Michigan and we loved the underdog role and kicking their butts. Archie has implemented Defense like we had in the Knight era—now I hope he implements that blue collar, non-cheating, chip on the shoulder, underdog program like we had in the Knight era as well. I know this post may not be popular with some fans who want to win now —whatever it takes. But- I don’t want IU to be just another UK. There is a better and more satisfying way to win. Rant over—Rebel out. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  22. This loss still hurts... but in my anger and frustration last night I forgot to say —Thank you Seniors. They have all had some bright spots for IU basketball and they all except for Priller helped us win certain ballgames. Even Priller set the standard for bench players as he was always a crowd favorite and kept our blowouts interesting to see when it would be —Priller Time! RoJo in particular did some great things at IU and he is high on several top performance lists in IU history—especially for 3 pointers. I love watching RoJo play D. I will never forget Hartman’s hustle and grit playing through injury after injury. I will always wonder how much more a healthy Hartman could have helped this and past years’ teams. Freddie Mac also greatly improved his game and Newkirk battled inconsistently but when he played well it helped take us to another level. Thanks for working hard seniors and representing IU and us without the scandal we have seen in the past. None of them had to come to IU but each one of them did and now they will always be Hoosiers! I would love to see them lead us on a deep Big Ten Tourney and NIT run! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
