(2019) CG Jahmius Ramsey
Beachfront Property replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Looking at Ramsey’s finalists - I’d say he is a total wild card. I would also discount Louisville here as they are pretty full at his position and his official to Louisville was followed by crystal ball picks to TT. I don’t think IU gets him. However, if he comes to Hoosier Hysteria we will have a shot - as he has never seen an environment like that before and will not see it again on his remaining visits. -

2018-2019 Rotation Discussion Thread
Beachfront Property replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I disagree that we will start 3 guards when we only have 4 on the roster. I put Romeo/Smith/Morgan as certainties in the starting lineup. The PG spot will be either Rob Phin or DG. The other starter is where it gets interesting - will Davis be ready (I am highly skeptical)? Can Fizner defend at a high enough level to start? Are we better off without a natural center and start McRob or Thompson? Will be interesting - but it will be great to have good options. Our roster has been upgraded drastically. Hunter is getting very little chatter - but would have played a MAJOR role on last year's roster because we needed his scoring. -
Totally agree with you - my point is that there is far less downside risk to taking a chance on a guy (who some are skeptical is high level enough to contribute) who is only going to be here for 1 year as opposed to someone coming in as a freshman. I am all for bringing Fitzner in.
-
I think so - Archie probably wants to work him out. Is that possible? At a minimum - look him in the eye and get a feel for what kind of teammate he is going to be before offering.
-
Big difference between bringing this guy in for one year and April/Priller/Gelon in as freshman (presumably for 4 years). As long as this guy brings a positive attitude everyday - he can’t hurt us.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I get the feeling they would. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I think someone posted it here or in the grad transfer thread - but the most telling thing is the fact that we have three guards scheduled to be on the team next year - yet we are not actively recruiting any more guards. People can be skeptical of people claiming to be insiders, you can be skeptical of the crystal ball, you can read articles with quotes from Tim Langford claiming Romeo doesn't know - but you have to agree CAM would have added another guard - unless he was very confident about getting Romeo. -

Another guy who does not make a pick unless he is very confident. 88% accuracy. -

Hoosier Guy - how is your confidence level right now? -

In my opinion - the silence tells us everything. The most tangible evidence we have right now is the fact that Archie is not aggressively pursuing any Shooting guards for next year. I think most people would agree this is a big area of need and I expected us to add either Romeo or a grad transfer at this position. Archie's early interest in guys like Ryan Taylor and some juco's is evidence that he knew the importance of adding someone at this spot. However, since the commitment of Taylor to Northwestern we have not heard of Archie pursuing any other players. Meanwhile, Vandy is definitely trying to fill roster spots. I am honestly not sure how much recruiting Kansas is doing - but they may be comfortable with their roster for next year. This - in addition to the fact that Romeo will announce in a public setting makes me confident - even outside of the crystal balls and insiders (who I really appreciate posting their information). -

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Beachfront Property replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Christian's family (great family) drove up from Alabama for every game in Christian's IU career. I don't blame Trendon for wanting to be closer to home. I know lots of kids play college basketball far from home - but most of their families don't drive 10 hours to be at every game. We need to lock up some of the big time players in our own backyard. -

Beachfront Property replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly. Bryce Drew doesn't want Romeo to come down for a game. I hope the Langford's realize that Vanderbilt doesn't want them down there for a game because 1. Vandy is awful and 2. They play in a gym with no fans. Hopefully the Langfords realize this - I am sure they do. -

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Beachfront Property replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Anyone have any updates on Phinisee? He had slipped to the second page of the recruiting board, despite a looming decision (last I heard he was looking at deciding in August). I saw on twitter that he had a big game in AAU today in front of several major coaches. However, I have gotten the feeling his national perception has slipped this summer. -

Welcome Coach Miller
Beachfront Property replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't understand why people don't have Gregg Marshall rated higher. If you want to win big and win big right away - Marshall would be a great hire. His Wichita State teams have been ranked in the top 20 by KenPom six years in a row and are preseason top 5 for next year. He has managed to do this at Wichita State - one would think he would absolutely tear it up and IU. The only thing I can come up with is that people don't like his personality. I can understand that position, but I really don't care how nice of a guy our coach is if we are hanging banners. Also, the administration may not see it this way, but I see his smoking hot, jersey wearing wife as a "double check plus (in the words of Fred Glass)". -
He is definitely recruiting. There were pictures taken of him at Martinsville last night. Also, Alex Bozich retweeted several Crean sightings at high school last night. Crean was wearing his black Indiana University jacket. I don't know how to post tweets or I would put them here for you.
-
I totally agree that is possible. I am just saying the only credible/verifiable information we have is a bad sign. It is definitely possible you are correct (and I hope you are!).
-
You're exactly right. I am clinging to this fact as well.
-
The only verifiable information we know is that Crean is still recruiting for Indiana. I think this is a bad sign and an indication he has been told he is going to be retained. Is it entirely possible Glass just hasn't fired him yet? Absolutely, but I would maintain the fact that he is still out recruiting is definitely a bad sign.
-
Online polls mean nothing. For all we know much of the Crean vote was Wisconsin fans hoping for a couple more guaranteed victories next year.
-
The only verifiable information we have is that he is out recruiting. I think that fact strongly indicates you are correct. I don't think Crean is recruiting without assurance that he will be back next year.
