(2017) PF Clifton Moore Jr. to IU
Beachfront Property replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You can't fake the athleticism and ball handling in the video. However, anyone can put together some clips of them making a couple of jump shots (see Freddie McSwain's highlight videos). What I want to know is what is Moore's 3 pt fg % on the season and what is his ft % on the season. Really excited about this kid. Aren't people claiming that he may still be growing? -
Post-Butler Frustration Thread
Beachfront Property replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This is going to be a really challenging game for us. Tom Crean's teams have traditionally struggled in grind it out, slowed down, slug fests. The closest thing we have had this year was the FW game. Other teams we always seem to play poorly against - Wisconsin and Penn State. That is why this game scares me. I think Butler will try to keep the game in the 60's. -

Why does DD get much better low post position that Bryant? I think it is because DD has a much larger posterior. -
Brass Cannon, this is great information. Can you explain what each of these stats measures in layman's terms - so idiots like myself know what we are looking at? Also, is Newkirk's increase/decrease based on his last year at Pitt? I would have anticipated a much better number for Blackmon this year, as I think our team defense when he is on the floor is much improved over our team defense before his injury last year. Davis needs to teach Bryant how to get position in the post. Defenders seem to push Bryant 12 to 15 feet away from the basket. Meanwhile, Davis gets very deep post position.

LOL. You're exactly right. Hard to blame Wilson for rushing him back when he never came back.

Some tough questions need to be asked of Fred Glass
Beachfront Property replied to Aaron's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I agree with you that it is simple. The reason Wilson has to be fired is that Bob Ley is already producing his "Outside the Lines" segment on the mistreatment of IU football players. Once the media gets a hold of something like this - you have to cut bait or they will completely wreck your university. Note: I don't actually know that it is going to be on OTL, but it sounds like ESPN is interviewing people. -
This sounds like a handful of disgruntled players to me. Of course the media will flock to their side and tell their "awful" stories of mistreatment. Look for Kravitz to write a real tear jerker. You have to have a separation of powers between the medical staff and the football coach. The head coach is not a medical professional and should have no say when a player returns. He should be completely excluded from the process. That way, when the inevitable disgruntled player complains - it cannot fall on the head coach.

You just cherry picked one of the Oklahoma player's tweets. If you read the rest of his tweets you will see that he is pro-Wilson.

The solution is so simple. Kevin Wilson is not a medical professional. The athletic department should have a system in place in which players can only play once they are medically cleared by doctors or trainers (who are not "Yes" men to the head coach). I blame the athletic department for not recognizing the issue before it became an issue. -
If you hire Allen - which I am not against (experience is overrated). You had better go out and spend money on an offensive coordinator.

Much of the concern about recruiting for next year is based on the belief OG, JBJ and TB are gone to the draft. I hope we have such a great season that they are all first round draft picks. However, play along with me here and rank them based on likelihood they are on the roster next season. Most likely to return: 1. OG - Publicly he does not seem concerned about making the jump to the NBA - demonstrated by the fact that he did not declare to workout with teams last year. Also, I believe he is still the biggest project of the three and may believe he can improve his stock while playing his junior year. Also, he is really young for his class. He is young for his class. Josh Jackson is actually a couple months older than OG. 2. TB - If he is projected as a second round pick, I think there is a possibility TB returns - although the possibility is probably lower than 50%. Once again, TB is really young for his class. 3. JBJ - I think JBJ is probably playing his last year of college basketball. Not a knock on him - he is just trying to fulfill his dream of playing professionally. Based on the fact he put his name in the draft last year I think he is an extreme longshot to return. How would you rank these guys based on likelihood to return at this point in the season?

#271 UMass Lowell @ #6 Indiana Game Thread
Beachfront Property replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
ALERT ALERT ALERT This may not be the snoozer everyone thinks it is going to be. UMASS Lowell beat Wagner and Wagner beat UCONN. Thus, we are playing a team that is better than UCONN. Ok, maybe not, but I still think this could be a slightly more challenging team than their name indicates. -
IU v. Bellarmine: Exhibition Game #2
Beachfront Property replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They both had a couple of really good moments. I think they're both going to be 15 minute a game guys unless there is an injury (then they'll get more). -

De'Ron Davis has a motor similar to Thomas Bryant and that is a BIG DEAL. I don't think he is at the same place TB was offensively last year, but I think he may be even better than TB on defense. It is going to take Davis some time, but I think we are going to really like this kid. -

Unfortunately, McSwain looked nowhere near ready to contribute on the offensive end. I like McSwain so I am not bashing him - he really struggles to dribble and is not going to be an outside shooter. Maybe it was just early jitters with the dribbling, but I think he will struggle to get many minutes this year. -
I want to give a strong endorsement of the Haunted Hall of Hoops and believe this event deserves its own thread. I personally have always enjoyed this event much more than Hoosier Hysteria (and I don't have kids!). The scrimmage at the Haunted Hall of Hoops is always excellent. It is much longer than the HH scrimmage and it has a much more competitive feel. Whereas the HH scrimmage had a no defense/highlight reel feel - the Haunted Hall of Hoops scrimmage has a feel of players competing for playing time. Also, the Haunted Hall of Hoops always has much lower attendance so you can see the team play from the 5th row. Even if you show up right as the scrimmage is starting. I'll leave you with my all-time favorite Haunted Hall of Hoops memory - which is when Guy-Marc Michel absolutely dominated. I thought he was the big man we needed. He must have had 20 pts and 10 rebs in the scrimmage (at least that is how I will always remember it). Anyhow, we all know how GMM worked out.

A couple questions here, I apologize if the answers are buried in the thread somewhere. 1. If the Grizzlies do not keep him on their 15 man roster and choose to send him to the D league, can a different team pick him up and add them to their NBA roster? Or does he have to play in the D league until the Griz call him up? 2. If he makes the team, does he sign a new contract? What would that contract look like? I assume rookie minimum, but how much $ is that and for how many years? I am really excited about proud of how Troy has performed. Hopefully he has a long NBA career and can take care of his family.

Draft Express ranks OG as the #1 prospect in the Big 10. I consider the NBA mock draft websites to be a complete joke - especially this time of year. However, the person who put together these videos of OG did a tremendous job. It looks like they went through every minute he played last year. Lots of highlights in the Stengths video and lots of things to work on in the Weaknesses video. I tend to agree with the strengths and weaknesses of OG's game, but I am very optimistic he can improve on the weaknesses. One of the weaknesses he notes and shows several examples of is poor lower body technique on his jump shot. Hopefully the Shot Dr. has been working with him in the offseason. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Top-NBA-Prospects-in-the-Big-Ten-Part-1-OG-Anunoby-Scouting-Video-5688

This Year's Starting Five - Post CH Edition
Beachfront Property replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Different sport obviously, but look at former Purdue QBs Etling and Appleby. They were terrible at Purdue and now they're both starting at major SEC football schools. Not saying Pitt basketball is anywhere near as horrible of a program as Purdue football - just pointing that sometimes the system is the problem. -
We are going to have an awesome frontcourt next year, but let's talk about the backcourt for a minute. I believe Curtis Jones is going to be a very good player and is being overlooked right now with the team we have coming back (rightfully so). Does anyone else think Jones may give Blackmon a serious run for his money at shooting guard, especially with Blackmon coming off all of his injuries? Do you envision situations where we play RoJo, JBJ and Jones at the same time? I am not sure what to expect out of Newkirk or Green, but I anticipate Newkirk getting major minutes. I think Niego will probably get some minutes as well.

Darius Latham arrested for DUI...

Wasn't he Antonio Allen's roommate who just happened to know nothing about Allen's side business?
