IUBB vs MSU Game Thread 1/23 8:30 FS1
bleedhoosier replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
All I know is Archie owning Izzo is a WILDLY satisfying scenario. We're 15-4 and tied for 2nd in big ten folks!!! Anyone remember when we had Hulls playing for us and hit 54 free throws in a row.... Good times -
IUBB vs MSU Game Thread 1/23 8:30 FS1
bleedhoosier replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What a fun game for college basketball fans in general. This game isn't even in question with average free throw shooting, let alone MSU going lights out from three. Huge game from Brunk! We gotthis dude for another year?!? Jerome icing the game was beautiful. Phinisee played really well other than a risky pass at the end. I also can't stand how many bs calls Winston gets in this league. It's gross. Also, hesitant to bring this up as we won so doesn't matter... Observation that I've never realized how rogue Devonte goes on defense as well. He was all over the place trying to gamble in passing lanes instead of staying in the system and really got himself and others out of sync while trying to recover on several skip passes. -
IU at Nebraska Game Thread 1/18 7 PM BTN

Recording this one so I can watch in 16x later instead of missing a good quality family gathering this evening This squad is too soft for me to make questionable decisions about prioritizing IU bball over family lol -
1 on 1 Player Meetings and Rotation Change
bleedhoosier replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I get it but I think it's more complex than that. A lot happens in the game. Things we never know about. Smith may have tweaked something in the first and Race comes in and back out some time later. That doesn't mean Archie didn't hold true to his intentions. Phinisee got kicked in the sack and looked like he was about to puke. You may want run with Brunk and TJD but then OSU comes to town and you know Davis can back anyone down and slow Wessen down.. and so you can't let Wessen go HAM because after NW you say "I'm shortening the rotation". He probably is, in the big picture of the season. Get the 8/9 the big minutes and leave 10/11 to 3 or 4 mins to relieve some legs. To me, that is shortening the rotation instead of a more balanced minute distribution across all 11 players. Just some thoughts. -

Sorry, not sure what you're asking. Are the averages true? I'm pretty sure that was it. Has to be close. -

Regarding Brunk, I think most of us said if he gave us 7 and 7, it would be a huge win for us from the transfer market. I think I saw today he is averaging 7.5 points and 6.7 boards per game. I've seen him get on a few people during games and also try to lift them team. He's literally doing everything we wanted him to do and the Hoosier Faithful seem to love him for playing his tail off. And he hit that 8 food fade.... Shiiiii -

Well that was fun. I was so nervous at the end of the game but FINALLY, a team kinda folds like we seemingly do. OSU was definitely making some wild decisions and if our defense (and crowd) had them shook.. then amazing job to the staff and team. Archie losing his mind on the table was entertaining. I think I remember Crean having a total meltdown over there one game and went forehead to forehead with Yogi lol. Offensive scheme. The ball reversal was crisp and quicker. No one was catching it and then staring at the rim for no reason. Run the play guys. I hope that's been the message all week from Archie. He needed to lose his mind. And yes, what happened to Phinisee. He was looking a little woozy when he last came out. Man how I have missed today's Phinisee!! -

See that's the kind of stuff that puts me back in Archie's corner. I'm upset but I still want to keep the perspective that YES, Archie re recruited these guys(Smith, Al) and asked Devonte and Davis to stay but what else choice did he have? It was probably more of he needed serviceable players , not that he WANTED them. It was too late in the process and I'm sure he wanted his guard to come from Dayton but that guy chose to hit Colorado I think. So... As hard as I've been on him... Is this even REALLY his kind of guys? TJD is a stud, Phinisee was/is, Franklin is going to be pretty good, and next year's class has this stigma of having a motor. He snagged Brunk who is as blue collar as it gets. These are my conflicted thoughts lol. -

Oh yea, I paused on that moment with Green and Davis mad at the world. Over it. This is a them problem and I'd move on without them at this point forward. Mop up duty or foul relief. -

Simply a move by Archie to instill leadership and ownership.... But Green doesn't know how handle such a responsibility. As per his instagram posts, he assumed it meant GREEN LIGHT. -

This team is soft outside TJD, Brunk and Al (Franklin loading). Green, as usual, is just bad at team ball. Dead ball every time it hits his hands during reversal. Clearly better with Brunk and TJD but rarely used it until late. So glad he sat. He should get 10 mins/game from here out. I'm over him. Brunk plays his balls off. If TJD is here next year, he's going to be damn near unstoppable. And I wish someone would slap Justin Smith's grandmother. Somebody flip his switch. Boos raining down... IU is just exhausting as a program. -

I would run Brunk in this game until the wheels fall off. Heart of the whole team along with TJD. Al lost it and is just a rich mans Verdell Jones. Everyone else goes through the motions. -

2 things drive me crazy about this system (or lack of execution in it) 1) quit over helping on defense. If ur teammate has his guy locked up on a drive, let them go 1 to 1. Quit leaving ur guy to dump down, to give him a practice jump shot wide open 2) one of main goals is to shoot free throws at a high clip (put fouls on other players at high rate). Ur fn 6'10 and 2 foot from basket... Go up, get fouled. Stop throwing the ball outside. % goes from like 65 down to 30. TAKE THE BALL UP -

None of this is surprising unfortunately. My wife actually talked me into watching since it's raining out lol. I'm not smart enough to act like I know what exactly this team needs. Average 3 point shooting isn't much to ask for. But Archie is losing me now. I heard tons of UK fans say "we hired our in-game Billy Gillespie". I told them they were dumb. Maybe they were right. -

On you Archie. First time a guard didn't dump the ball to TJD or Brunk, "come sit down"... Nope, perfectly content letting Devonte Green lose the game for his team going rogue -
