  1. On to the Sweet 16 with a 70-48 win. Points: Berger 17; Patberg 13; Holmes 13; C-H 10; Gulbe 9 Rebounds: Gulbe 14; Holmes 7; Berger 6; C-H 5; Patberg 4 Assists: Berger 3 We shot 46% from the field and ended up 19-25 (76%) on FT. We only attempted 1 3-pointer in the 2nd half. We let Belmont hang around a little bit early in the 3rd and then just shifted into a higher gear. Belmont came into the game as a 35% 3-point shooting team and finished 5-25 for 20%. They were just 31% from the field.
  2. 51-33 after 3 quarters. Berger 15; Patberg 13; Holmes 9 points. After just 5-10 on FT in the first half, we hit 9-10 in the 3rd Q
  3. Holmes picked up her 3rd foul with 4" left in the 3rd. Belmont has 1 player with 4 and 2 with 3. Lead is 45-28 with 3" left in the 3rd.
  4. The NCAA stat tracker sucks and you can quote me on that.
  5. We opened our lead to 30-18 limiting Belmont to 6 points in the quarter. Holmes 9 pts; Berger 8; Patberg 7. Gulbe already with 9 reb; Holmes 5. Holmes 2 fouls. Defensively, we've held Belmont to 24% shooting and they're 0-13 on 3s. One Belmont player with 3 fouls; 2 with 2 each. Hoosiers shooting 50% FG but just 1-5 on 3s and a miserable 5-10 FT. We're moving the ball well with 8 assists on 11 made field goals.
  6. Belmont 0-9 on 3s and two girls with 2 fouls apiece.
  7. Don't get too excited @btownqb as I'm sure I saw something earlier that Monroe Co., wasn't signing off on allowing spectators. Haven't been able to find it and hopefully I'm wrong but prepared if that is the case.
  8. Grace Berger Named WBCA All-Region Finalist Junior guard Grace Berger has been named an all-region finalist for the 2021 Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team, announced on Wednesday. Berger is one of 10 finalists in region 4 and is among 52 other candidates to earn spots on the 10-member WBCA All-America team. Berger leads the nation this season with three triple doubles and the team's second leading scorer with 15.3 points per game this season. An All-Big Ten first team honoree and Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 watchlist, the Louisville, Ky. native also averages 6.7 rebounds and a team-high 4.7 assists per game. She also grabs 1.1 steals per game and holds a +2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio. Berger is shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 74.8 percent at the free throw line and has scored in double figures in 20 of 24 games this season.
  9. My point is that the next coach will have a far better talent pool to draw from than Crean did to fill out a roster.
  10. And since this Old Fart is nearly 73, Woody's just a young whippersnapper to me. Everybody is different and you all know people in their 50's who simply don't have any gas left in their tank. Likewise, you know people in their 70's and maybe even in there 80's who are just as active today as they were 20 or 30 years ago. The age issue is a valid issue, but you can't automatically assume that they can't be effective just because they're "x" years old.
  11. With effectively free agency in the recruiting world, whoever our next coach is will be able to field a team that will be better than the team Crean fielded in his first year. I don't want to lose any of our players but it's not the end of the world for IU bball.
  12. So very sorry for your family and my deepest sympathies to everyone.
  13. The mood swings in this thread are every bit as bad as my wife's when she went through, well you know what, but don't tell her I said that.
  14. Outcome #1: We hire an IU guy; he's wildly successful and the IU guy camp screams and shouts we should have done this when we hired Crean. Outcome #2: We hire an outsider; he's wildly successful and the need an IU guy mantra fades into memory. Outcome #3: We hire an IU guy; he flops badly and the need an IU guy mantra fades into memory. Outcome #4: We hire an outsider; he flops badly and the IU guy camp screams and shouts we need an IU guy. Pretty much sums it up doesn't it?
  15. Welcome to btb and before you ask, it takes 10 posts to get rid of your Purdue Jockstrap label. Subliminal encouragement for posting. Hope you enjoy your stay.
  16. Wos Named to TopDrawerSoccer’s National Team of the Week https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/3/23/womens-soccer-wos-named-to-topdrawersoccers-national-team-of-the-week.aspx?fbclid=IwAR0RS8GtvzIrRx1oY8s4Rp34wSx3PHBWbXBYFEDlVFVJEKx4vpme9mafYY0
  17. If it's Brad to IU, why is Partizan cringing? Makes no sense. Everybody just take a chill pill.
  18. I think he actually had a degree but on his resume to Notre Dame he stated he earned 3 letters in football at the U. of New Hampshire when in fact he never played in a single game.
  19. Would you take a job if you were told that a condition of the job is that you hire 'x' and 'y' with no previous experience in working with them? I think your candidate pool just gets smaller if that's Dolson's pitch and I really don't think it is.
  20. Derek Simmons on the list.
  21. NCAA Tournament second round action is set for Wednesday as No. 4 Indiana faces No. 12 Belmont at the Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary's University. Game time is set for 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU. NO. 4 INDIANA (19-5) VS. NO. 12 BELMONT (21-5) Wednesday, March 24, 2021 • 5 p.m. ET • NCAA Tournament Second Round Bill Greehey Arena • San Antonio, Texas Broadcast: ESPNU (Roy Philphot, Brooke Weisbrod) Radio Live Stats: NCAA.com ABOUT THE Bruins The automatic qualifier out of the Ohio Valley Conference, Belmont upset 5-seed Gonzaga on Monday to earn its first NCAA Tournament win in school history. They are led by freshman guard Destinee Wells 17.9 points per game while junior forward Conley Chinn adds 12.3 points per game and a team-high 4.8 rebounds per game. The Bruins are currently on an 11-game win streak that dates back to Feb. 13. NOTES The Hoosiers will make their seventh all-time NCAA Tournament appearance on Monday and back-to-back tourney bids for the first time since 2003 and 2004. All-time, IU is 4-6 in the Big Dance and secured its highest ever seed at No. 4 this season. Indiana advances to the round of 32 for the second-consecutive tournament appearance as it also made it in 2019 when it faced Oregon in the second round in Eugene, Ore. The Hoosiers are looking for its first Sweet 16 appearance in the modern format, making the round of 16 in the 1983 season when the field was just 32 teams. They secured their stay in San Antonio after a convincing first round win over VCU, 63-32. They held the Rams to the fewest points by an opponent by a Big Ten team in league history. Indiana outscored VCU, 41-15, in the second half behind 20 points from junior guard Grace Berger. IU and Belmont have faced each other six times before including once in the postseason which happened to be the last time the two teams faced each other. The Hoosiers escaped with a first round WNIT win in Bloomington on March 20, 2014, 48-47. A win on Wednesday would also secure a 20-win season for the Hoosiers for the sixth-straight season, continuing the longest streak in program history. UP NEXT The winner of Wednesday's game faces the winner of North Carolina State and South Florida in the sweet 16.
  22. And either of those 2 could guarantee he leaves. He may want Dan Dakich (god forbid). We are driving ourselves over the cliff speculating on who the next coach should be with absolutely no consensus now that Stevens is off the board. It's folly to start speculating on who the players want because there may not even be a consensus among them.
  23. Nell Fortner, head women's coach at Ga Tech telling it like it is.
  24. Lookin' pretty good.
