  1. Class of 2021, shooting guard Brandin Podziemski. Tuesday afternoon the four-star shooting guard from Delafield (Wisc.) St. John's Northwestern Academies confirmed to 247Sports.com that he has committed to Brad Underwood and Illinois.

  3. Braydon Tucker was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week After making Indiana University baseball history on Saturday, RHP Braydon Tucker was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, the conference office announced. Against Illinois on Saturday, Tucker and RHP McCade Brown combined to pitch the first no-hitter in Indiana history in nearly 37 years. Out of the bullpen, Tucker pitched four scoreless innings of relief to earn the save, striking out one, while issuing one walk. The no-hitter is the first since April 25, 1984, when the Hoosiers blanked Rose-Hulman, 6-0. In the bottom of the ninth, Illinois OF Cam McDonald reached on a throwing error to lead off the frame. Tucker then induced a fielder's choice to get the first out of the inning. The righty then sealed the no-hitter, inducing a 6-3 double play to end the game.
  4. Jon Blau - Another note from Dane Fife's presser: He mentioned Mike Roberts as still being on staff. It's unknown what his role will be, but he was part of the transition team with current assistant Kenya Hunter when Archie Miller was let go.
  5. If Aloha's post is unpopular to some, deal with it because the points he makes are valid. We're not going to know what we have until November when the real action starts. We can speculate ourselves to death but we just don't know. With the recruits that UNC, Duke and pUKe had on their rosters, how many would have expected them to have flame out seasons but all 3 did.
  6. Extract from a Stockrisers update on Taylor Bowen today. “The schools that are the most involved right now are Iowa and Rutgers. Due to coaching staff changes some schools that were in the mix the most are no longer there.”
  7. I'm sorry to see Joey leave and am grateful for the time we did have him with us and truly hope he's able to enjoy one more year of college basketball. But, his back surgery has been a concern to me. How many minutes could we realistically expect per game? Will he be able to play a full season of B1G "rugby" without a re-injure. I know any player is subject to sustaining an injury, but back surgery isn't like getting a knee scoped and I'd much prefer to know before the season starts that we won't have him on the roster than having something happen after the season started.

  9. This is what I'm counting on to happen. If we can actually see this happen, we'll be in good hands with Woody running the show. The lack of player improvement during the season and the late season collapses -- I've had enough of that crap.
  10. Ohio State point guard CJ Walker is heading to the professional ranks. Walker announced on his personal Twitter account on Monday evening that he is going pro and plans to hire an agent and forgo his final year of eligibility at the college level.
  11. So we can round him up to 7'? lol

  13. Trying to decipher if the difficult time is the decision to decommit or something else of a personal nature. Langston J. Wilson @Langston3491 Please respect that this is a difficult time for me and give me time and space to get my thoughts together much love.
  14. Rothstein - Purdue's Trevion Williams has declared for the 2021 NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility, per his Instagram page.
  15. BOGO for Vanderbilt - Liam Robbins committed to Vanderbilt. Ed Conroy, Liam’s uncle, is also headed to Vanderbilt.

  18. Casey was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A All-State team. Braden Huff of Glenbard West was looked at by Archie and was also named to the 4A All-State team.

  20. Final comment on Xavier Booker's weekend from Trevor Andershock - Overall, Xavier Booker made great strides this weekend. He was fantastic against the Illinois Wolves and battled a big, tough All-Ohio Red team. Today, he let off the gas a bit. He was more engaged in the second half and made a few great plays as he racked up points at the basket and free throw line. The next step for the high-potential prospect is playing with a competitive edge in each game. Over the last two years, he has improved in this area but as today showed, Booker is still a work-in-progress.
  21. Midwest Hoops Spotlight @MidwestHoopsSL Xavier Booker has great potential & starting to show more & more. The lengthy 6'11 big is an elite shot blocker w/ all his tools and has just been shutting down the paint. Very aggressive player that rebounds well & has scored on couple put backs so far.

  23. Comments from Woody on Hunter and Fife. Rosemond also discussed. Interestingly, there's no mention of Roberts in this article. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/mike-woodson-pleased-with-makeup-of-coaching-staff-so-far/
  24. Mindless ramblings on a rainy Sunday afternoon waiting for Masters coverage to start. By all accounts, Galloway, Geronimo and Leal were hard workers yet all struggled mightily. Were they thrown into the fire too quickly? Were they that poorly coached/developed by Archie -- keeping in mind Roberts and Hunter were assistant coaches? Lander was clearly not ready to make the jump he did so I'll give him a pass for the time being. Galloway, Leal and Phinisee never entered the portal so unless blatantly axed by Woody, they were coming back. Everyone else that entered the portal Woody clearly busted his butt to get them to stay and they all did sans Armaan (I'm ignoring Durham). This is a group that was an absolute disappointment last year and we have no idea what, if any, positives Johnson and Stewart will bring when they toss the ball up next fall. And we don't yet know for certain that Brunk will return and even if he does we have no idea of how effective he will be. Does Woody really see the potential with this team and that by the time the season starts we'll see a far more competitive product on the floor? Did he not want to see a mass exodus because 1) be that much harder to fill out a '21-'22 roster as a new and inexperienced college head coach; 2) bad PR out of the gate if TJD, Lander and Armaan (all Indiana kids) left with an IU legend now as head coach. I'm in no way qualified to judge talent other than if it passes my eye test so to those of you that have the ability to judge talent, is the makeup of the roster as we know it today going to meet Woody's objectives and put a product on the court that will be a pleasure to watch?
