  1. Season recap. https://www.insidethehall.com/2021/04/29/thats-a-wrap-race-thompson-3/?fbclid=IwAR1qot43vbqifj_UoaoHKCXlFCMhis2B7PyUGyN6cupP_xtpaxOIhPhvfKA
  2. All athletes in all sports now have a 1-time option to transfer and have immediate eligibility IF they've not previously transferred. More detail at: http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/OneTime_Transfer.pdf
  3. One of the more goofy set of ranking numbers: Rivals #117 / PrepHoops #101 / 247 #58 / ESPN #31. Average of 77. Take your pick.
  4. Comments on Filipowski after an AAU event held April 9-11. Rob Cassidy of Rivals: Currently ranked as the No. 117 prospect in the 2022 class, Flipowski outplayed that ranking at the event. Playing for the New York Rens, Flipowski showed off a well-rounded game that included scoring on the inside, the high post and a couple of 3-pointers. He handles the ball well for a player of his size but isn't afraid to mix it up under the glass. His multi-facetted game certainly warrants a climb up in ranking. Eric Bossi: It seems strange to think that somebody who is already a four-star prospect had a breakout performance, but that's what Kyle Filipowski of the Rens did during the day's final game. Currently ranked No. 92 nationally by 247Sports, the 6-foot-10 Filipowski looks like a player who could be on his way to making a big rise in the class of 2022. He's every bit of his listed 6-foot-10 (if not a little bigger) and he's got the type of frame that will be able to carry more weight without costing him athleticism or flexibility. The key with Filipowski is that he blends skill with some toughness and a great motor. He was running the floor, played strong around the rim, showed that he can shoot comfortably from behind the three-point line and he crashed the glass. Filipowski hasn't really had a lot of opportunities to show what he can do over the last year and if his start to the grassroots season was any indicator, he's a guy that scouts and eventually coaches (hopefully in July) will enjoy watching all spring and summer. Filipowski said that Iowa, Ohio State and UCLA have been the most active in his recruitment to date but he could really see things take off. You never want to make too much of one outing, but if Filipowski had already been ranked in the top 50, then that type of ranking would have looked to be pretty legitimate. Look for him to be a hot name over the next few months.
  5. Trevor Andershock reporting Jaden Schutt a 6'5" SG attending Yorkville Christian HS in Yorkville, IL is on the IU radar. Details are behind a paywall but here's some additional background on Schutt. Plays AAU for Illinois Wolves on the UAA circuit. 247 Rivals MaxPreps HUDL # Gms PPG FG% 3FG% FT% RBG Asst TO Stls Blk 20-21 HS 11 26.2 56% 39% 84% 7.9 3.9 1.5 3.6 0.8 19-20 HS 34 22.2 51% 43% 85% 9.1 2.9 1.3 2.1 1.4 18-19 HS 23 15.5 46% 36% 80% 5.8 2.5 1.0 2.2 1.0 March '21 Game Story Commentary from last weekend' AAU event: The leading scorer in the Stars matchup with 20 points, Schutt can put up points in bunches and looked like he was out to make a statement in this particular game. He was locked in & aggressive from the start, displaying his high-level shot-making ability throughout. Already having good size at 6’5”, Schutt pairs that with good, quick elevation on his jumper that allows him to get off and hit shots even with little space. He plays with a bit of an edge to him and came through with some big jumpers that helped to energize the team. His 3-point shooting will be most coveted, but Schutt is also a good 1-foot leaper in space, is effective attacking closeouts and getting to mid-range spots, and doesn’t shy away from contact at the basket. It is easy to see why he is heavily recruited; things took off for him last summer and after they went quiet for a while, Penn State, Providence, & Minnesota have all extended offers this spring. Given the guys I’ve seen in the Southeast and other regions, Schutt looked like a prospect who clearly deserves to be within the Top 100 nationally. Trent Markwith - 2022 SG Jaden Schutt reeled off some impressive scoring spurts today and ended with a 20-point outing to beat the Georgia Stars. Elite shooter with quick-twitch athleticism & can stop on a dime to rise up over defenders. Really pretty shot. Competitive.

  8. Jake Weingarten - Four-star junior Kyle Filipowski has planned several visits, as he told @Stockrisers: Will officially visit Syracuse the first weekend of June, Ohio State the second, and working on OV’s w/ Iowa & UCLA. In addition, he will unofficially visit UConn at the end of June.
  9. Update from Bossi. No mention of IU. https://247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Four-star-wing-Tyrell-Ward-taking-his-game-to-a-new-level-Georgetown-LSU-Maryland-Seton-Hall-164765407/
  10. Jake Weingarten - Four-star junior Justin Taylor has set up the following visits, as he told @Stockrisers: Virginia Tech (6/3), UNC (6/5-6/6), Syracuse (6/9-6/10), and could set some others in the month of June as well. Taylor & Family will speak with Indiana’s Mike Woodson & staff tonight.
  11. 6'10" PF attending Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA. He attended Fordham Prep in Bronx, NY, prior to his transfer to W & M in 2019 and those are the stats you'll see in the MaxPreps link. From what I've learned thus far, W & M played a very limited schedule this past year due to the pandemic. He plays AAU ball for the New York Rens on the EYBL circuit. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-hoosiers-offer-2022-4-star-top-60-forward-kyle-filipowski/?fbclid=IwAR2MzimqLb6eWRgezncQbl7tcF15QMKbh3ceJKSpUwzGOEyjO7HK8B4aJ8k Rivals '18-'19 MaxPreps Stats https://insidetheloudhouse.com/2021/04/25/syracuse-basketball-4-star-kyle-filipowski-skilled-will-soar-rankings/ https://www.thehoophustle.com/news_article/show/1158900 2019-2020 articles: https://newenglandrecruitingreport.com/recruits/matt-filipowski-2022
  12. IU maintaining contact but doesn't sound like we're really making him a high priority. The 6-foot-8 Casey hasn’t connected with new head Indiana coach Mike Woodson yet, but he is hearing from IU on a fairly regular basis. “Coach Hunter, he hits me up every now and then. They are definitely staying in contact with me,” Casey told The Daily Hoosier of his recent dialogue with IU. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/2022-top-25-forward-a-j-casey-continues-to-hear-from-indiana-as-he-turns-focus-to-aau-and-visits/

  14. Just a little something to pass the time on a rainy day in northcentral Indiana. Compiled the most recent rankings I found and then computed an average. Purely for fun. FYI, Avery Brown, Justin Taylor and Masai Troutman had no high school season at all this past winter and Alex Karaban had a very limited season due to the pandemic. Several others as well played far fewer games than they typically would. 2021 Avg. 15. NCAA dragging its heels as you'd expect. With a number of state laws ready to take effect soon, the Association’s top governing body Tuesday reinforced its commitment to modernizing NCAA rules around name, image and likeness this summer. Full press release at: https://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/board-reaffirms-commitment-updating-name-image-and-likeness-rules And if you read it carefully you'll find this towards the end of the release: Additionally, the board voted unanimously to extend NCAA President Mark Emmert’s contract to Dec. 31, 2025.
  16. Jamie Shaw of Rivals deemed Rice the MVP of last weekend's Pitt Jam Fest - Currently sitting at No. 77 in the Rivals150 2022 class, Rice made his case this weekend for a bump in the impending update. Playing for Team Durant EYBL, Rice showcased major shot making ability which included catch and shoot from range, attacking closeouts with balance and feel and some craft to finish once in the paint. Standing at 6-foot-4 the Hyattsville (Md.) Dematha Catholic guard averaged over 20 points per game en route to a 17u championship win. Where he might land: Louisville, Maryland, Indiana, Virginia Tech and Connecticut are the programs in heaviest contact right now.

  18. Purely FWIW In the class of '22 by my count there are 20 offers extended in total. 4 are CMW offers and 7 are Archie offers with public indication that the new staff is remaining in contact. Doesn't necessarily mean the other 9 Archie offers haven't had IU contact only that nothing in the way of public information has surfaced that I've seen. And lastly, of these 9, Kenya Hunter was/is the lead on 4 of them.
