  2. This one will be over quick. Travis Branham @TravisBranham_ 2023 four-star CG Jakai Newton will announce his college decision live on @CBSSportsHQ on Friday, October 22nd at 3:00 PM ET, he tells @247Sports. Jakai Newton, the No. 67 overall prospect in the 2023 Composite Rankings, is set to make his college announcement on Friday, October 22nd at 3:00 PM ET, he tells 247Sports. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard out of Covington (Ga.) Newton holds offers from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana and Vanderbilt amongst many others and he will make his decision live on CBS Sports HQ on Friday afternoon. Of the schools that have been in pursuit, he says that three have stood out the most heading into his announcement: Georgia, Indiana and Vanderbilt. The four-star prospect further broke down his thoughts on the three programs ahead of his decision on Friday. Indiana: "It just feels like a home and the players he has coached. He has coached a lot of successful players and there are things he brings outside of basketball too." Georgia: "Just the fact that it's close to home and they got coach [Tom] Crean who is a good coach, but mainly that it's so close to home." Vanderbilt: "They just have experience with the coaching staff. Jerry Stackhouse, coach [Michael] Curry and I got to meet some of the others and they are all real cool." What will he bring to his future program, in his own eyes? "I will bring a lot of energy, a lot of dunks and a lot of winning," he said. Newton is ranked as the No. 12 overall combo guard in the class and you can tune into his decision on Live on Friday at 3:00 PM ET, on CBS Sports HQ.
  3. Senior moment. I overlooked Bryson Tucker '24 who just received an IU offer earlier this month. He's #3 on the Rivals list and wasn't ranked on the ESPN Top 25.
  4. Damn kids stay outta my yard!
  5. First ever '24 rankings from Rivals limited to its version of Top 40. 6. Hoosiers Ranked No. 8 In Preseason Associated Press Top 25 Indiana women's basketball will begin the preseason with its highest ranking in school history, coming in at No. 8 in the Associated Press top 25 on Tuesday. The Hoosiers have now appeared in the AP preseason poll for the last four consecutive seasons, marking its highest-ever ranking overall in the national poll. It leaps its No. 9 ranking, one they earned in Week 16 last season. They elevated three spots from its final ranking of 2020-21, where they finished at No. 12 and have now been ranked for a program-record 38 consecutive weeks. Off the heels of an NCAA Elite Eight appearance last season and its sixth-straight 20-win campaign, the Hoosiers return all five starters for 2021-22. Among those returners includes a pair of All-American honorees in junior forward Mackenzie Holmes (17.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg.) and senior guard Grace Berger (15.4 ppg.) Second team All-Big Ten selection Ali Patberg (14.0 ppg.) also returns for her seventh and final collegiate season along with senior forward Aleksa Gulbe (9.0 ppg., 6.9 rpg.) and senior guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary (8.5 ppg.). Eighth year head coach Teri Moren holds a 148-80 overall record in her time in Cream and Crimson. 8. Comment following an Elite Preview Camp As soon as he walked into the gym, a lot of eyes immediately went on him. Standing tall at 6-foot-9, Jobe is a high-major prospect, already holding offers from Auburn, Florida, and Indiana. His mobility for his size allows him to step out and extend the floor on offense and defend out on the perimeter. He has such potential to his game; only a sophomore, his skill on the low block will continue to improve. - Brianna Patton
  9. '24 Cooper Malamazian attends Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, IL. Cooper Malamazian @cmalamazian I am excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Indiana University! I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have helped me reach this goal https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/profiles/IL/Cooper-Malamazian-1502674398 Perfect Game
  10. Rivals will release its first top 40 rankings for the '24 class on Wednesday. From Dan McDonald in a warm-up for Wednesday's release - Derik Queen was one of the more dominant prospects I saw this summer in the 2024 class. He’s already so big and strong, but he’s also a very skilled all-around player. He can play both around the basket and be physically imposing, and he’s also comfortable playing on the perimeter. He’s without question one of the top prospects in the country.

  18. Frank Burlison's recap of the Pangos Top 30 Cream of the Crop. Several names that have previously appeared in this thread are highlighted in bold. – Sophomores Dekwon Brown and Payton Kamin led the black jerseys past their white counterparts, 99-94, Sunday afternoon in The Top 30 Cream of the Crop Game to cap the annual two-day Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp at the Park District sports facility. The 6-foot-3 Brown (Limestone Community on Bartonville, about 170 miles southwest of Chicago) opened the game with three 3-pointers, finishing with 17 points, and the 6-6 Kamin (DePaul Prep in Chicago) sizzled after intermission, when he drilled four clutch 3s en route to his 16-point effort. This was the third stop on the Pangos Frosh-Soph fall circuit, following the West (Long Beach in Southern California) and South (Duncanville, near Dallas) sessions. The East and final session will be contested in Mt. Laurel in New Jersey next weekend. The Chicago St. Rita Class of 2024, 6-9 post duo of James Brown and Morez Johnson Jr. – dominant presences all weekend in and around the lane – did their best to keep the white jerseys close, scoring 19 and 13 points, respectively. The “Browns” (no relation) were their respective team’s Most Outstanding Players in the Top 30 game, while sophomores Tyler Wooten (6-2/Matteson, IL, Rich Township) and Christian Humphrey-Rembert (6-8/La Porte, IN, La Lumiere) shared the honoring for the winning black jerseys in their 86-62 win in the earlier Top 6- Cream of the Crop affair. All of the games were live-stream and archived by BallerTV. No “Most Outstanding Player” for the entire camp was selected (in consolation with myself, my fellow McDonald’s All-American Selection Committee member Van Coleman and event founder/director Dinos Trigonis. But I could – and did – build strong cases for at least five players getting that honor: the Browns, Johnson, Bryce Heard (a freshman “wing” from Chicago Kenwood Academy) and sophomore combo guard-deluxe K.J. Windham My Top 15 “performers’ for the camp are listed in order below, by position (point guard; shooting guard; small forward; power forward; and center) and were selected because of how well they played when I watched them and NOT strictly upon college “potential”. TOP 15 FIRST TEAM Dekwon Brown 6-3 Bartonville (IL) Limestone Community So. K.J. Windham 6-3 Indianapolis (Ben Davis) So. Bryce Heard 6-6 Chicago Kenwood Academy Fr.
