From Jamie Shaw following last weekend's game against SoCal Academy Cupps has to be one of the premier game managers in the country. Faced against Los Angeles (Calif.) So Cal Academy, one of the most talented rosters in the country, the 6-foot-1 point guard never got rattled. He handled the full-court pressure calmly, allowing his team to get into sets and ultimately win the game by ten points. Cupps, a junior at Centerville (Ohio) High, is an early Indiana commitment. Since middle school, he has been in the spotlight when he played with Bronny James and Mikey Williams on the North Coast Blue Chip travel ball team. His ability to run a team is impressive as he got precisely where he wanted to go and got his guys into exactly what they wanted to run.

Right now I don't really know too much about them. I haven't been there so I have a lot to learn about Indiana. I want to see their culture, see how they play, meet the coach in person, and see how he talks to his players.”

Peoria Notre Dame (13-4) defeated Pekin (3-13) 61-35. I had Koch with 25 pts on 11-12 FG; 3-3 on 3s; 0 FT; 6 reb; 2 asst; 0 stl; 0 blk; 1 TO. He scored 11 of his points in the first quarter when PND raced out to a 23-12 lead and he sat out the entire 4th Q. -

(2025)-PF Bryson Tiller to Kansas
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
What a gawdawful game to watch. Pace Academy (15-4) destroyed, obliterated, annihiliated McNair (2-15) 110-22. It was 11-0 before McNair ever got the ball across half court. 1st Q it was 39-7; at the half 68-13; after 3Q 91-21. There was no running clock but they played 6 minute quarters in the 2nd half. Tiller played a total of 15 min. and scored 10 pts. on 5-6 FG; 2 reb; 0 asst; 1 stl; 2 blk; 0 TO but any stat line in a game like this is pretty meaningless. Pace has hit the century mark in one previous game this season but most of their games they score 70 or less. -
First game I've been able to watch of Rooths as Georgetown Prep (6-5) was beaten by St. Stephen/St. Agnes (7-2) 77-62. GP is a pretty mediocre team. They had no interior defense and gave up way too many layups and as a team, they're sloppy ball handlers. I scored Rooths with 11 pts. on 4-12 FG; 1-2 on 3s; 2-2 FT; 8 reb; 5 asst; 1 stl; 3 blk; 5 TO. I thought he showed very good court vision as I think all 5 assists came off his dribble finding open teammates for layups. He had 5 TOs but at least 2 came when he was double teamed and it looked like he got mugged pretty good but didn't get the benefit of a foul call.

From the Covington News: Winning four games in a row presents a challenge all its own. There comes an added difficulty in having to do so in three days. Largely due to Jakai Newton, the Newton Rams won the 2022 AllState Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic in Louisiana a few weeks ago. In the tournament, Newton averaged nearly 20 points per game which included a 25-point, seven-rebound performance in the championship game on Jan. 8. Newton’s performances earned him the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award, too. For Newton, it was a special honor. “It was a good feeling,” Newton said. “I worked hard for it and had to just come out there and play my game.” Newton is one of three juniors on this year’s Rams team who is committed to a Division I college. He committed to the University of Indiana on Oct. 22, 2021, to further his basketball career. His contributions have helped lead the Rams to a 14-3 record and being No. 1 in Class 7A rankings. Head coach Charlemagne Gibbons recognized how important Newton’s play has been to the Rams’ success this season. “He’s been playing great basketball all season long,” Gibbons said. “And he understands that our teams need him to be aggressive. And I think his aggressiveness [in the tournament] showed people what kind of player he can be.”

Per the amended Big Ten Conference 2021-22 Forfeiture Guidelines, this game will be postponed and the Conference office will coordinate the rescheduling process with both schools. If the game is not able to be rescheduled, it would count as a "no contest" for both teams. If Mackenzie is going to be out for an extended period, the Iowa game at Iowa would be one to have end up as a "no contest" game.
