Too many years of being a 'star' on the AAU circuit and constantly being told how good you are. Got to believe that CTC and staff worked on the weak aspects of his game and he either simply didn't think he needed to improve or he's maxed out on his bball ability.

IUWBB: Assistant Curtis Loyd leaving IU staff Assistant Curtis Loyd is leaving Indiana’s coaching staff, according to head coach Teri Moren. “We appreciate the contributions Curtis made to our program over the last two seasons,” Moren said in a statement. “Curtis is currently exploring other coaching opportunities and we wish him and his family well.” Loyd joined IU’s coaching staff in May 2014, hired by former head coach Curt Miller off of Minnesota’s staff. Miller abruptly resigned in July 2014, and Loyd was appointed interim head coach. Loyd was kept as an assistant by Teri Moren when she arrived in August 2014.. Loyd is from Dallas, and his Texas connections were a big reason why the Hoosiers were able to land 2016 recruits Ria Gulley (San Antonio, Tex.) and Bre Wickware (Corinth, Tex.). While at Minnesota, Loyd helped recruit All-Big Ten players Rachel Banham and Amanda Zahui B. This is the second assistant coach to leave IU this offseason. Todd Starkey, who came to IU in 2014 from Division II Lenoir Rhyne, took the head coaching job at Kent State in April. Moren tabbed former Wisconsin guard and IUPUI assistant Janese Banks to fill the vacancy. Not sure what this is all about, but clearly he's not immediately moving on to a position with another program. Has some solid recruiting credentials so wouldn't expect him to be unemployed very long.

Barrington hires former Indiana, NBA guard Greg Graham BARRINGTON (RI) --- A proud Hoosier and former NBA first round draft pick will call the Barrington boys basketball sidelines home in 2016-17. Eagles’ athletic director George Finn confirmed Wednesday the school has hired Greg Graham as its next coach. A 6-foot-4 guard for Bob Knight at Indiana during the early 1990s and 17th overall selection by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1993 NBA Draft, Graham most recently served as an assistant coach at Salve Regina after family considerations resulted in a move from the Midwest to Rhode Island. “We’re just trying to lay down some roots,” Graham said. “Getting a job at Barrington and being the high school basketball coach wasn’t something I imagined would happen, but it did.” “The school district’s excited to have him as a part of the program,” Finn said. “He loves basketball. We believe this is a great fit for us.” Graham played for four different teams during his five NBA seasons and served as head coach at Warren Central – his alma mater – for seven seasons through 2014-15. He compiled an 80-74 record with the Warriors, including three appearances in the Marion County tournament championship game. “It’s still teaching,” Graham said. “It’s still molding. It’s still developing. It’s still inspiring. The kids are still passionate. It’s not a job like it is in the pros and it’s not as demanding as it is in college. “High school is competitive, but it’s fun. The kids enjoy it. They love to do it. Being a high school coach, all those factors that I listed before are exactly why I love to do it.” Barrington won the regular season R.I. Interscholastic League Division I championship and reached the boys state tournament final in 2014-15 before falling on hard times last season, slumping to a 6-17 overall mark. Wish her well and hope it's the right decision for her. Sophomore guard Jess Walter announced Wednesday via Twitter that she is transferring to Nebraska Omaha. Walter, who announced she was leaving Indiana the day after the Hoosiers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, originally committed to Northern Kentucky in April. But when head coach Dawn Plitzuweit left the Norse to take the head coaching job at South Dakota, Walter reopened her recruitment. Walter averaged 2.8 points in 16.4 minutes per game in 2015-16 for the Hoosiers. Omaha finished 15-15 last season and 7-9 in the Summit League. The Mavericks did not receive a berth into any postseason tournaments.

From 247: Multiple sources tell 247Sports that Oklahoma is parting ways with transfer Austin Grandstaff, a former Top247 four-star recruit who had arrived in Norman in January after starting his freshman season at Ohio State. In 10 games at Ohio State, Grandstaff averaged 4.4 points per game in 11.5 minutes per game. He shot 33 percent from behind the arc. Grandstaff was the No. 14 shooting guard in the class of 2015, per the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 54 player overall. The Rockwall (Texas) product was a prolific scorer averaging 29 points per game as a senior in high school, shooting 33 percent from three-point range.

Amber Deane has committed to Indiana as a grad transfer for the 2016-17 season, according to a source. This news comes only a couple hours after the completion of Deane’s visit to IU on Monday. Deane played nine games for Dayton last season, her season cut short by a left leg injury. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged a team-best 15.3 points per game when healthy. With Deane’s commitment, the Hoosiers have one scholarship remaining for ’16-17.

Amber Deane - the Hoosiers look at the 5-foot-9 guard as a possible graduate transfer for the 2016-17 season. Deane played nine games for the Flyers in 2015-16, averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game. Her season was cut short in December by a left quadriceps injury. Deane had an extremely productive career as a Flyer. She started all but two games her first two seasons and was the Atlantic 10’s Rookie of the Year in 2013. Deane went on to score 1,194 points and hit 48.6 percent of her shots in 104 games. In her final three seasons, she converted better than 80 percent of her free throws. He was 2 of 3 in the first scrimmage and 1 of 1 in the second. For all of last season, he was only 35% on 26 of 75 3-point shots which I think is a far better indicator and I attribute hitting 3 of 4 at the Combine to plain old dumb luck.
