It's mostly the scouts that are on the road throughout the year. Executives like Brad often just stick to the holiday tournaments in the Bahamas. Most of the time, scouts/executives wear normal clothing, no brand affiliation. It varies.

He likely did his homework prior and had an idea of who was available. You don't Fire Woodson to hire Brownell. Ben McCollum will also end up at Iowa. I'm expecting a slow news day today, maybe something picks up tomorrow evening.

Chris Collins was a hot name in the Archie search, wore off in the Woodson search. I don’t think we want him. Josh.. I don’t know. I don’t know if he’s ready for Indiana yet. I’d argue the same for Ben McCollum. We’re a different beast as you can tell by the 2,000 pages of thread discussion.

If no tourney, I’m anticipating a Monday-Wednesday announcement IF the new head coach is not a current men’s college basketball head coach.

Brad Stevens is scouting in Nashville. Meanwhile, a plane has arrived in Nashville from Bloomington.

I’m not reporting that Billy or Jay Wright are actually candidates. But I’d consider them guys you would announce after the season potentially concludes on Sunday for an announcement next week. I have a hard time buying the media knows anything about the current search. Frankly, the only people who reported Woodson as a serious candidate were from the NBA, not college media. Nonetheless, Sunday will tell us when to expect an announcement.

I can’t confirm whether or not it’s required to attend if chosen, if it is, I don’t think a lot of teams are going to have a FULL roster to compete. The portal opens up on the 24th for Men, this tournament begins the 31st. This doesn’t make sense for coaches/players that want to hit the portal as soon as it starts. I read the players will be paid for competing, but again, what if they want out of their current school and want to compete in the portal? What if that player gets hurt while intending to enter the portal? This tournament needs to occur in November, not early April.

I believe this move was calculated and that was to give Woodson his flowers as Dolson knew this would be his last season with the Hoosiers. This gave the fan base to cool off for a few weeks, that’s for sure.

If Indiana doesn’t make the dance. I’m personally expecting an NBA announcement whether it be a Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan. Maybe throw Jay Wright in there, that announcement would be Monday-Wednesday of next week. If Indiana makes the dance, we’ll find out the following week. I’d say it’s Brad Stevens / Jay Wright / Billy Donovan. Ben McCollum will go to Iowa. Brownell I don’t believe is a serious candidate despite media rumblings. At least he shouldn’t be a serious candidate. I’d be absolutely shocked if he was the guy.

It’s going to be a slow weekend on the Indiana news front. Next week will be a big week. If Indiana doesn’t make the tourney, we’ll know if the next coach is in the dance or not (Stevens, etc.,).

I tend to agree. Dolson isn’t stupid. You don’t fire Woodson to make a lateral move. Bare minimum you either hit a home run or you hire the potential guy (Ben).

We’re going to see these post season tournaments die off within the next five years. Mid-major who want to get paid and join the big leagues will hit the portal as soon as their conference tourney’s are done. P4 players wanting a change will do the same. But pending these NIL deals and language in them, perhaps players will need to play in them to receive their full share? It will be something to keep an eye on. I think we’ll see pre-season tourney’s and events continue, post season’s will die outside of the dance. Portal + revenue sharing will change this landscape sooner than later.

No reason to play in tourneys with the portal here to stay. Gives coaches and players a chance to get started on a new chapter instead of playing in a meaningless game(s). Indiana will conclude their season Sunday if they miss out.

I think similar to Indiana the last four years, it would be more of a check the score after the game ends instead of watching it live type of situation. I just don’t see why you fire Woodson to hire a guy 90% of this board hasn’t heard of.
