Ben has matched the # of NCAA TOURNEY wins that Darian has in his first year in D1.
-
I was wondering if that was him. Wow!

Curry Hicks Sage hinted at Stevens backing out on Sunday night
Trish replied to Ctf9's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It’s very interesting as to why Stevens said no this time around again. Would he have said yes if his daughter was out of H.S? Does he truly never want to coach again? I have been told, he will get back into coaching at some point. I would hate for him to accept a college job like Butler next year once that opens. Perhaps we’re looking for a new coach 3-4 years from now, perhaps not. -
Exactly. Did Dolson promise them a better suite for football games in exchange for 6 million dollars?

Kory will return to Indiana. Hulls will be retained. Calbert, likely to return to Pacers or be retained. I’m hearing Cody Zeller will be joining the program is some capacity.
-
This is the largest buy-out in men’s basketball history. I wonder who Scott called for that.. Let’s hope the buyout terms for Darian are reasonable. Lastly, no more one year extensions have two years, Dolson.

Employees hate her.

First off, I have more hope than I did with Woodson. Whether or not Woodson was forced here by QB, I think we can all agree that Indiana doesn’t pull the big names. But we can also say that about Louisville, Ohio State, Kentucky, and Michigan given their last coaching cycles. We’re in a new era of coaching hires. Regarding DD, it’s always a risk when you’re basically hiring a mid-major experienced coach. B12 was down this year, they did alright given injuries. A team that was expected to make the dance but was hosed. DD will need to surround himself with an excellent staff. Hire assistants that know the CURRENT B1G, hit some good names in the portal over the next month, and should hopefully bring in some former Indiana guys to help build the program back up from the ground. Guys such as Jordan Hulls should be retained, Calbert, bring in Cody Zeller. Kory Barnett should be joining the move as well. My expectation next year — make the dance, finish in the top 6 in the Big Ten. If first year head coaches at Michigan, BYU, Kentucky, and Louisville can do it, DD should ideally do it. Disappointing overall, but I can see the potential. This will define Dolson’s career.

I mean he wasn’t the first choice, likely not Top 3.

Indiana is paying $6.15 million for the buyout? What donor got suckered into that?
-
One of my final thoughts for the night, there will be no excuse to not make the dance next year. He will have the NIL to compete in the portal, zero excuses to miss.
-
We all knew Indiana had their guy, we just didn’t expect this guy.
-
It will be a support staff role likely.
-
I’m hearing Jordan Hulls will be retained. Expect Cody Zeller to be a named to a position as well.

I have to hand it to Scott Dolson, this dude has some basketballs on him. First, he hires Woodson who had zero NCAA tournament wins, ends up getting fired after four years with only two NCAA appearances. Now, he hires a guy who has only 1 NCAA tournament wins. That takes some basketballs.

Brad ******** Stevens! We’ll get him next time, that is, if Butler doesn’t get to him next year.

It is safe to turn off the Shams and Zach tweet notifications now folks.

WVU D1 Rankings and Numbers from this year. Not great, but I understand first year and a lot of injuries.

Morgantown is not a pleasant place to live. This is the second year in a row a head coach has left after a year. Their WBB coach left to accept a B1G job after one year.
-
As I mentioned earlier, leave Tom in Morgantown and Frazier. Kory is welcomed back to Bloomington with open arms, I’m sure he’s excited right now to be home again.

Not a sexy hire, 70% of Indiana fans are going to say out loud “Who” when they read the headline this evening. Shocking to an extent, but coaches don’t want to leave their current spots anymore. Pearl, Greg, Few, etc., Will we be here again in four years? Could be, I wouldn’t be surprised. But I hope this hire works out. Woodson never should’ve been hired in the first place, hopefully this is a legit replacement. I hope he builds a solid staff around him. EDIT: Some further thoughts, Will Stevens end up at Butler next year when his daughter is out of high school? Got that would be a kick in the nuts. First letting Dusty May go and potentially seeing Stevens return home a year after our opening.

I’d like to welcome home, Kory Barnett, a legend of Indiana Basketball. However, please leave Tom Ostrom back in Morgantown, he doesn’t need to be an assistant here again.
-
We know where Indiana basketball stands amongst coaching searches. Louisville and Kentucky didn’t hire the big fish, neither did OSU. Is this the new normal? Yes it’s the new normal. A time where legends are retiring sooner than anticipated, AD’s search for new names to fill the voids.

I want to know how far down the list Dolson had to go to get to Darian. I mean, Chris Beard is right there, right?!
