As talented as he is Thompson’s not in the Peterson/Dybantsa/Boozer tier of freshman who are ready to be the best kid on the floor every night. Think he’s closer to an Ament and I don’t know what UT coughed up for a 1 year kid that’s probably a 2-3 option but can’t imagine it was that. Just see this outcome where he’s really good and gives you something like 13/7 on good splits and gets better as the year goes on and has a couple of games late where he flashes dominance and then he’s gone. What’s that worth and is your program in the place where an overpay for that is beneficial? It could be but that doesn’t feel like the likeliest state. Really tough call.

Purely tea leaf reading and almost certainly not a thing other than me amusing myself, but 1 of Karvala’s teammates at Bella Vista is Miles Sadler, who’s probably the most highly regarded ‘26 PG who’s still thought to be wide open. He’s different than their offerees in that he’s really small, more Yogi than Hood-Schifino, but he’s a jet in the open floor. Almost certainly nothing, but if they’re hellbent on adding a ‘26 PG it may be 1 of those things to keep in the back of the mind.

Would imagine they may have extended it officially after the Allmond announcement and if he’s not as tied into his social media branding as a Moody he just never got around to or cared about announcing it. Either way, he is a very intriguing player.

Bittersweet music night tonight. Going to see 1 of my all time favorite garage/bar bands, Bloomington’s own Murder by Death, on their farewell tour. Love those guys. Seen them maybe 8 or 10 times. It’s a small venue, seats maybe 700, so I really hope they hang around a bit after the show. I want to buy those guys a drink. This is a favorite. Will be crazy disappointed if they don’t play it.

I don’t think I’m being a homer, but as long as he’s comfortable with the commitment of the school to the program I just don’t see a scenario where he leaves. One of the guys on the Titus podcast said something like, “Cig wants to take the IU football program and shove it up everybody’s a$$.” Inelegantly put, but yeah. Freaking knew it. Eli Drinkwitz now coming up in connection with Penn St. His agent is The Man. Got Drink’s name attached to LSU and got him a big extension when there was no chance he was a candidate there. He’s about to do it again. He’s also Marcus Freeman’s agent, so don’t be surprised when you start hearing about how Freeman is “open to Penn St overtures.”
