  1. The article is just generic boilerplate. “Recruit to a specific culture.” “Hard work and grit.” Drivel. Unique amenities? Please. We all love AH as a Mecca. To 17 year olds, it’s a Big 10 arena. I’m not saying he isn’t correct. Kent just provides nothing new or insightful. If that took him more than 5 minutes to write, than it’s because he’s a slow typist. The really interesting part is the comments. 1 commenter writing that Juwan and Romeo are the only players worth a damn. The very next guy says they shouldn’t be playing because they’re just looking at the next level. Nothing but primal screams. We’ll see if Archie’s the guy. But I am 100% confident that the guy has a vision for the program. I’m sure it includes “hard work” and “grit”. Hopefully it also includes, ya know, shooters.
  2. Not sure about that shot. Release looks low and slow. Needs work. Other than that, the rest of his game looks super solid. Seems to be virtually ambidextrous. His left hand drives/finishes/passes look great. Love that. He and Franklin could be really nasty defensively on the perimeter.
  3. Just got done watching it and he was much better than the only other time I’d seen him, which was the New Albany game at Southport last year. Now I really get the appeal. Competed and played with energy. I hadn’t heard or read just how quick the kid is laterally. Very impressive. With his height and length he could be a lockdown defender if he has the mindset. Didn’t shoot it great from 3, but I imagine he can. The stroke is really nice. Definitely excited now. took a really awkward fall, and looked to me like an ACL for sure. Thankfully not.
  4. I don’t remember KC bringing pressure at any point in the 4th or OT. 100% sure they didn’t in the OT. Their d-line wasn’t getting close. Gutless coaching.
  5. Romo is making this sound like the ultimate gunfight. In reality, neither Brady nor Mahomes has been all that good.
  6. So the Blackmon family is going to end up with something like 8,000 pts. That is stone nuts.
  7. Can’t get over it. Zion has done exactly nothing special to get back to his left hand, and yet Hunter has let him back to it every single time that he’s scored. Must be bad coaching.
  8. Yeah, I tried that one after the Nebraska game, along with Beilein, Wright and Barnes. Fan frustration defies the “it takes time” argument. And frankly, getting whacked at Mackey makes it tough.
  9. Love and CBC plays Vashon on 2/5. Vashon has a Pg named Mario McKinney, who’s a 6’2” top 100ish kid going to Mizzou. Kind of wild, but an absolutely elite athlete. Really looking forward to seeing Love match up with him.
  10. Doubt that you’ll get hammered, but I do disagree. Soft kids don’t keep taking the ball to the rim when they’re getting beat up when they get there. Soft kids don’t take over in the 2nd half of road games like he did at Maryland. Kid’s having a bad game and he’s clearly frustrated. Doesn’t mean he’s soft. Really good players have really bad games. It happens.
  11. So where do you put him?
  12. It’s fun to talk about the details and minutiae. But shot making trumps everything. Most important skill in the game. This isn’t a good shooting roster. Nothing can fix or mitigate that.
  13. I get it too. And to be fair, he has played Edwards better than anyone else. Much better. But, on a good team, he doesn’t play.
  14. Try not lose your mind watching him knowing that those would be Hunter’s minutes. I think he would have been the 3rd best player on this team by now,
  15. Then somebody needs to cribsheet him, because Gus is the man.
  16. They even showed it overhead on replay and nobody mentioned it.
  17. Wow, did they really just show Walter Jordan on that network out? Good player, but does anyone under 55 remember him at all?
  18. You’re right. Great kid, but he doesn’t appear to demand accountability. Nobody on this roster appears to be that kind of kid.
  19. Because he cut off the baseline and Rob dribbled into him. Of course it was a charge.
  20. Smith fails to call out a screen. Romeo gets picked off and Cline gets a wide open look. And nobody says anything to Smith. On floor leadership is nonexistent.
  21. Wait, it took him 2 seasons to fix the offense at EMU? Hard pass. Obviously a mid-major talent. And, yeah, sarcasm. Welcome aboard, Coach. Sounds like an intriguing hire. I’m all for going the non-retread route.
  22. Always sort of thought that there needs to be a thread for the most deeply stupid/offensive/wildly insensitive comments made in a sports context. Then John Engler goes ahead and just renders it uneccessary with pretty much the worst thing that CAN be said. unbelievable
  23. You’re right about Fitzner, though I think they probably wanted him because Randy Bennett does a lot of the same stuff as Archie and they thought he would be able to just go. But the Prilleresque athleticism was too much to overcome. I really wanted a grad transfer PG. Rob is not ready for this. Love Watson, and he was just way too good for Rob and Green tonight.
  24. Beilein was 65-67 in his first 4 yrs at Michigan. Jay Wright was 52-46 his first 3 at Nova and then made the Dance year 4. Rick Barnes was sub .500 at Tenn his 1st 2 yrs, and now in year 4 he has them #3. Tony Bennett made the Dance UVA once in his 1sr 4yrs. Sometimes building a roster and culture that fits the Coach’s vision takes a minute. Not always and I’m not defending Miller. I despise this team’s pace of play and the fact that he is absolutely married to his offensive structure when the pieces don’t fit is 100% on him. The skill development piece of the program was better under Crean. I don’t think that’s really arguable. But Alford/Bailey is right. Anyone that looks at this roster at the moment, without Hunter and Thompson and with Davis hardly able to move, without an experienced starting PG, with an injured McRoberts getting minutes when a healthy McRoberts shouldn’t be able to, and thinks this team is ready to be a 2nd weekend tournament team is either, 1) flat out stoned, or, 2) doesn’t know what they’re looking at. Currently this roster is Langford, Morgan, and a group of mismatched role players. They can get better, but right now they’re required to do more than they are ready or able to do. This team has to compete like hell to win. Tonight they didn’t.
  25. Love Winston. He may never be an NBA all-star, but he is pretty close to a perfect college PG. As good as Zavier Simpson is, I like MSU better at tournament time because of Winston.
