They’re not even guarding Smith at this point. Smith’s response is to stand in the corner and allow his defender to clog the lane. No effort at all.

Easy call

At this point I’d like to hear Archie’s justification for playing De’Ron. All he is bringing is 5 fouls.
-
Yeah, that really was an all-timer. Dude with something like 20 career points dropping 30 something in the Big Ten Tournament. Unbelievable.

Isaiah Joe shot north of 40% from 3 last year. So far this year he’s shooting south of 35%. He’s gonna bust out on somebody. Needs to not be today.

(2021) SF - Aminu Mohammed to Georgetown
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Kickapoo is by far the best team Mohammed will play against all year. #8 ranked team in class 5, which is our big school class. Has a '21 PG named Brookshire who has mid-major offers and has been watched by Mizzou and Iowa St. Could be a fun game to watch if there's a stream somewhere. Could also be an utter beating. -
I didn’t think the calls were even. Thought the fumble overturn was egregious and thought the roughing the kicker absolutely should have been running into. Agreed with the targeting. But it’s OSU, so don’t particularly care if they got jobbed. Just really loathe Swinney.

Well, in my case, the hate comes from listening to Dabo constantly whine like a small child about his team being disrespected after they were the betting favorite and picked by a vast majority of the media. Hate it. For any of his flaws, Ed Orgeron has never whined, even when he had some justification, and I hope LSU beats the living hell out of Clemson.

They really are.

Brooks getting away with an obvious foul at the rim followed immediately by Richards getting a call on Williams while backing him out of bounds. U of L being massively homered early.

At Old Fart’s behest, wanted to give a little context to Mohammed’s video game numbers. His competition isn’t as good as Luke Brown’s. Despite being in Springfield, MO, which has some decent talent in and around the area, Greenwood plays against none of those schools. It has something like 120 kids 9-12 and plays nothing but small rural schools of similar size. Example: they have a game coming up against undefeated South Iron, which is the #3 ranked class 1 school in the state. It may not be graduating 25 kids this spring. That’s typical. He won’t play against another D1 prospect this year. So basically he’s an NBA kid playing against farm kids. If Mohammed wanted to avg 50 a night, he could. So his numbers are entertaining, though not really instructive. But he requires no projection at all. A blind guy sees his talent. You could drop Mohammed on Ben Davis or Center Grove and he could avg 30 and 12 in the Metro. He’s just a gifted, gifted kid. Fwiw -
Yup. And unlike UK, where you know they’re gonna get better because they have talented guys who just aren’t cohesive yet, UVA has a real deficit of skill and talent. I’m not sure how they beat really good teams.

(2021) PF Caleb Furst to Purdue
Demo replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Does anyone have what they believe to he am accurate measurement on Furst? I’ve seen him listed anywhere from 6’9” to 6’11”. He looked to have at least 3” on Kaufman in the Silver Creek game, but they referred to him as 6’9” multiple times. -

https://www.ihsaatv.org/watch/reitz-vs-christian-brothers-college-high-school-mo-boys-basketball-southern-indiana-sports-productions I’ve watched about a qtr and a half so far and if Lander got to 26, he got miles better late. Has 2pts and 4 TO’s so far and has been flat out bad. The kid looks lost. He’s competing and his effort is fine. But his confidence looks shot and he’s so tentative. Something’s clearly going on with him. -
Never thought I’d say this, but UK is getting a terrible whistle.

Whoever the analyst is on the Minn-Ok St just said, swear to God, “X’s And O’’s don’t win games. They don’t. It’s playing the game the way you want to play the game.” Awesome insight. Let me try that one. “Shooting doesn’t result In points. It doesn’t. It’s releasing the ball in the direction of the rim.”
-
He’s also benefited from ND’s guards being completely unable to exploit him in ball screen actions. And make no mistake, the kid’s having a really good day, but he remains highly exploitable.
-
One here. He had a terrific half.
-
Yeah. He’s gonna make some really athletic kids look really unathletic.

Watching the kid is kind of fascinating for what it says about Indiana HS basketball. Greenwood plays in a gym that seats about 200. I’ve been there twice and it’s been about 3/4 full. Also saw a road game that had a couple hundred people. They won a state championship last year and could win 1 or 2 more. By the time he graduates Mohammed will probably be one of the most accomplished players in the history of the state. In Indiana he’d be Eric Gordon and selling out everywhere they play. Here, nobody gives a s**t. -

I drove down for the game and Bruiser was there. Talked to him for a couple of minutes at the half. I wasn’t keeping a book on Mohammed, and I’m sure Old Fart, being the box score bloodhound that he is, will find them, but I had him at roughly 47pts/ 20 or so rebs/6 blocks. Sat the last 4:30 of a 25pt win. Could have scored 60 if he’d wanted to. The kid’s just a great player. Has smoothed out some leftward drift in his jumpshot and now has a clean, simple action. Goes to the rim with complete abandon and is basically oblivious to contact. He is gonna shoot a ton of FT’s in college. If the NCAA really tries to limit step in charges, Mohammed is so strong, physical anod explosive that he would be basically unguardable 1 on 1 by most college guards. Also love his demeanor. He doesn’t bark, doesn’t get frustrated, nothing. Just plays relentlessly and never stops. I need to see more of Wesley, but from the couple of partial streams I’ve been able to watch, the 2 kids aren’t remotely comparable. Bruiser was sitting alone about 20ft from me, so at the half I wandered over, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, ‘Coach, you need to make this happen.” He starts howling and says, “Yeah, you’re not the first one who’s said that.”
