  1. I like UNCG’s defensive variety pretty well against FSU. Probably don’t win it, but could make them look bad.
  2. If Gates takes out Kelvin Sampson, the man who incinerated IU basketball, I will contribute to his new IU contract.
  3. I was agnostic on Musselman earlier on because I really did not like what he did defensively at Nevada. They were so hyper aggressive overplaying passing lanes and blitzing the hell out of every pick and roll and I just thought better teams would really be able to exploit how elastic they were. But after watching a couple of Arkansas games the last couple of months he has significantly adjusted his scheme to account for better guard play. They are so much more solid. Very impressive. I’ve become a fan to the degree that, among the most likely suspects, he may be my number 1.
  4. Oats...yep Drew...nope Mack...yep Stevens....yep Donovan....yep Beard....yep Musselman...yep Pearl...nope Matta...nope Alford....nope Stuhoo’s Gates....probably Beilein.....yep, but it’s complicated Fife.....nope Enfield.....yep Wes Miller.....Hell yep and no chance, but I love the guy: Craig Smith....definitely yep
  5. Dude’s in the hot tub. Not a care in the world.
  6. It looks like a volleyball court. Wow
  7. Curbelo is a stone killer.
  8. Man, you want a comparison for development year over year, watch Cockburn and Trayce. Cockburn has gone from being nothing but a hammer to being really fundamentally sound. Has the drop step series. Has the jump hook. Catches the quick peek over his soldier on catch. Immediately looks diagonally when he’s doubled. He has REALLY been developed. And Trayce is the exact same player he was when he got to Bloomington. Good player, but he could be so much more.
  9. Do you think it’s a playin game?
  10. I hit him on page 9 or 10. Love the guy.
  11. There is no basketball argument to keep Miller. None. Not even a bad one. Not even platitudes. What’s Dolson supposed to stand in front of the fan base and media and say? Dolson: I believe that, despite the many challenges, this program is headed in a positive direction. Media: Give a specific example of that positive direction. Dolson: crickets. Dolson: I share Archie’s vision for Indiana basketball. Media: What specifically is that vision and what specific foundational steps are in place after 4 years? Dolson: crickets: Dolson: Ok, he’s really damned expensive to get rid of. Media: Yup.
  12. Or, the committee gives them the Ohio St treatment, says they shouldn’t be penalized for missing games, and puts them in, citing the “roll” they were on in the ACC tournament. I’ll believe Duke’s not in when they’re not in, not a second before.
  13. The style is different, but they have a lot of the same issues Archie’s got. If your primary facilitators are 1-1 assist/turnover guys who can’t shoot it you can’t be consistently good. Fascinating that Archie and Wojo were college PG’s who struggle teaching PG play.
  14. Oh hell yeah. Tell me you wouldn’t want to see the look on Greg Gard’s face as we’re continuing to give him layups but he doesn’t want them because they’re too early in the shot clock.
  15. Ok, if the finances are the thing, I am volunteering my services to take over the program. I make roughly 5% of what Archie makes and I feel sure I would be at least 8% the Coach. So the math works. Additionally, my offense would be at minimum 1,000,000% more interesting to watch. Sure, the last time I was on a sideline Reagan was President, but my back is way better than Matta’s.
  16. This. Right. Here.
  17. Compelling guy. Fascinating to watch on the sideline. With the ball in play, I can’t think of a coach I’ve ever seen who interacts less with his bench. Stands 15’ up towards halfcourt with his hands on his hips or in his pockets and doesn’t talk to anyone. Never seen anything like it. I like what he’s done tonight better than last night. Last night they played several minutes of this wildly elastic matchup zone. They gave Milwaukee way too many gaps and really struggled with block out assignments because they were so aggressively stretching. Tonight’s they’ve been way more solid.
  18. I’m sure someone will disparage it for being the PAC 12. During the last search I remember someone suggesting that they weren’t excited about the idea of Mark Few because he was in the WCC. That is some aneurysm-provoking analysis right there.
  19. Pretty good coach. Maybe they can get Dave Ragland. Otherwise, don’t really like their chances of doing better.
  20. Wow, being able to spread the floor from the 4. What a novel concept.
  21. Agree completely. The guy busted his a** and carried himself like a Pro. It didn’t work and it’s time to move on. But zero need to dance on his grave. God, I hate that sort of thing.
  22. Seth Lundy from PSU is absolutely shooting Maryland into a game against MSU instead of IU. The kid is unconscious.
  23. I try not to judge guys I haven’t watched and I’m fairly sure the last full CSU game I saw was coached by Kevin Mackey. That’s been a couple of years, right?
  24. Yeah, this wreaks of the Painter to Mizzou talk way back when.
  25. Not saying he’s the guy, though boring means nothing to me. Just saying he beat the guy ya gotta beat. If Miller had beaten Painter twice and lost 2 other games this year he’d be here next year. And Fife is not for me a remotely serious candidate. But the fun of msg boards is we can all think what we think with no accountability of any kind.
