    A do not contact in all but name. He’s from Utah. His wife is from Provo and apparently already has a business there.

    Feeling very good. Not because we know anything other than, apparently, Olsen and the Burton visit, but every day more really useful kids drop into the portal. The more options the better and I’m 100% confident that some really good kids are gonna find the combination of IU’s resources and immediate playing time in the best conference in the country compelling and bite on it.

    Don’t usually scout the stat line but this one is really interesting for a big this young. Averaged more blocks than fouls and shot north of 70% from the line as a freshman. So he can stay on the floor while protecting the rim and can’t be reflexively fouled. With 3 years of eligibility that’s a pretty good profile.

    I don’t love him but if he came in with the expectation of competing for minutes and earning whatever he can and the staff wants him, ok. But if he comes in with the expectation of being locked in as your stating 2 and playing 25mins a night would not be down because I don’t think he’s good enough.

    Was kicked off the team and then brought back mid-season. Would be pretty surprising if he doesn’t end back closer to home somewhere.

    Is IU supposedly in on Bonke? Ok then. DDV said he wanted to get bigger and if you’re rolling out Bonke at the 5 and Estrella at the 4 you are officially yuge.

    Closest thing I could come up with was Mookie Blaylock about a million years ago and even he was really strong and 1 of the best defenders in the country. The portal guy who feels like the perfect Sampson guard is Mingo. Maybe the shooting never comes but that kid’s a bada$$.

    Have been begging for this structure, though I’m sure it would be sued into oblivion. It would limit some of the Euro professional options. It would punt ridiculous outliers like Baker-Mazara. It would eliminate the JC years not counting nonsense. Would eliminate medical redshirts. Love it. At this point it has to be about age.

    Doesn’t that feel like kind of a strange fit for Sampson to go after? He’s always gone with these strong, physical dudes who body everyone defensively and puts multiple facilitators on the floor pretty much all the time and and now he’s looking at a 180lb kid who really pounds the ball? I can’t think of an example off the top of my head of him running with that kind of kid.

    Such a nice player. The quality of his list is gonna shock people.

    Now that every 7 footer in the country is portalling it’s becoming increasingly clear that there are, in fact, a $hit ton of 7 footers.

    Kind of hope IU isn’t in here. Played at Paul VI with Jordan Smith and was a textbook early maturing kid without a ton of projectability. He was really good in HS but it was tough to see how he was gonna get better and he pretty much hasn’t.

    Yup. Not my kind of player at all but he’s gotten a lot of work done against P4 competition and if he’s the guy they want I want them to have him.

    And they better be prepared to drop another 12 or so. As good a player as Bidunga’s become he is not option 1 on a team that’s winning anything.

    20 years ago Mara is the 1st pick in the draft. Astonishing improvement.
