8 fouls called in the 1st 4 mins. Someone must have reminded the refs at halftime that we are, in fact, tuned in to watch them.

Just brutal for UK. ISU can’t throw it in the ocean the entire half and you’re down 1 at halftime.

“Hubert didn’t really want this head coaching job.” Just stop it. The 1 thing I’m sure he is right about is that they definitely want a commitment from their guy before they pull the trigger. If they want to keep a kid like Mingo they better be able to just point at the next guy.

Muurinen would be wild. Would be the most physically gifted dude on this campus since Isiah but is also pretty clearly kind of nuts. I don’t care if it worked. I just want to watch. -
These schools never learn. If his name was Harry McNamara and he’d played at UVA and had the exact same resume they wouldn’t have wasted a single breath on him. But, hey, 3rd in the MAAC, you just can’t pass on an alum with that level of accomplishment.

Swain is a nasty matchup for PU. Like, really nasty. He’s so efficient finishing at the rim and such a good decision maker in traffic. Texas will get clean looks. A lot of it’ll be how that game’s called. If it’s called tight PU’s got a problem. But if they’re letting TKR just truck guys from the mid-post like he does in the B1G I don’t think UT has any answer for that stuff.

The logic is there, but I’m curious about 2 things, 1) Is he a B1G player or was he a compiler on a bad team? The lines look pretty good but the team was bad. He had a really nice game against Mich St. 2) Why, from the little we know, did DDV appear to make no effort to bring him to either WVU or here IUBB last year? Did that relationship not work? No idea. -
Henderson is just a man. The idea that the most physical dude in a tournament game is 19 is pretty nuts. The Purdue kids don’t want any part of him.

Well, that’s a fun start

Can’t lie, Reneau ending the Smith/TKR/Loyer triumvirate of d-baggery would be immensely satisfying.

Love the name. If you had no idea who he was and someone asked, “Who is Karsen Stoudamire?”, you’d just automatically reply, “Kid plays ball.”

I need thoughts from those around here who know Notre Dame. We’ve talked a fair bit about Haralson already, and I think assuming you’re comfortable with the kid he’s an easy yes if he’s available and you just figure out the fit. Also think he’d be really expensive and he’d have a huge list. But I’m really curious about 2 other kids there: 1) Really intrigued by the idea of Burton. He hits 1 of my least favorite archetypes, the small ball dominant scoring guard. But is that what he actually is or is that just kind of what they needed from him and what Shrews asked of him? If he can comfortably fit in a system the kid’s played a bunch and gotten a lot done against great competition. That, and coming off the ankle his market might be slightly depressed and there could be a bit of a value proposition there. 2) How did Koehler look last year? When his name came up some with IU in HS didn’t love it because that frame didn’t look like it would hold up in the B1G. But the athleticism and the shooting looked like they’d play. Any chance he gained 20-25lbs? -

Can see that one. Catch and shoot guy along the lines of Isaac McNeeley at UVA. If they’re gonna go hard after a more dynamic lead guard, and I can’t imagine they won’t, pairing them with a kid like this who you can’t leave would make some sense. -
Fun little thread because it consolidates all of the current openings into a single read. Nothing terribly shocking, though the Olen/BC stuff sounded pretty crazy when it came up yesterday.

Man, Acuff is such a closer. Whoever takes out Arkansas is going to have them at arm’s length down the stretch because in a 1 possession game no one has an answer for that kid.

Kid’s a sophomore -
With you on Kelsey. He’s lower key about it than most of the d-bag coaches but he definitely feels like he’s in that fraternity.
-
Yeah, they feel like they have complete control of this thing and they’re only up 5.
-
Yup. No matter who wins non-a$$holes lose.

Happy to see it. Putting some of the emotional immaturity aside he seemed like nothing but a good kid.

Northwestern 7 footer Cade Bennerman entering the portal. Redshirted his freshman year. Had a pretty nice list before picking NW including, if you believer 247, a Michigan offer. From what I can find of him he’s really long, very fluid, runs well and appears to have a fair bit to work with. Redshirted because he’s a late developer and looks like he didn’t weigh much more than 200 when he would have hit campus. Got to confess, an athletic 7 footer with 4 years of eligibility and has been well coached for the last year hits some of my hot buttons for a backup 5 pretty good. May dig into him a bit.

If there was one sure thing in the round of 64 it was that the game that was going to be the least actual fun to watch would be Iowa-Clemson. And it’s delivering.

I’m Craig Smith fan as a coach and when he was at Utah St he looked incredibly happy and at Utah he looked utterly miserable.

Weirdly enough, no. 1 guy hired the 1st 2. Then the next one hired the next 2. Then she left to go to Maryland and it’s gonna be another guy doing the hiring this time, assuming Calhoun moves on.
