Both of my brothers went to Purdue. My parents wanted me to go to Purdue. I said: You have got to be kidding! IU has had the Old Oaken Bucket...what? FOR TWO YEARS!! If Purdue doesn't cancel this game, again...or whatever...IU will bring the bucket back to Bloomington for a third year. It's just the right thing to do... POTFB!

76 - Hoosiers 59 - Boogercats like to turn over the ball; don't defend the 3 well; don't steal the ball since West... but are better than some of the competition that we've seen. Marshall almost became known as the Boogercats but that lost out to a really decent handle of The Thundering Herd....which obviously refers to the buffalo, I mean bison...uh...nevermind. Jeez. After reading this thread and getting depressed, I asked myself what could be worse than the above scenarios. So I took off my bifocals and washed my face...after taking out my hearing aids. Took a few ibuprofen, my meds... Then I reflected on the basketball program at IU since RMK and started looking for my bourbon. But I am out. I really like college basketball. Correction, I really liked college basketball and football. And I hope to like them a lot in the near future. But the worst thing may be happening. The P5 universities and conferences that really give direction to the NCAA have botched college sports. If any of us are left that think that college sports is not being bought and sold to the highest bidders...then enjoy it when the Alabamas and Ohio States of college football scene are in the BCS4 every. Single. Year. How is professional ball doing with their salary caps? I can't wait until all players have corporate pins and patches and logos on their uniforms. And the referees are also paid directly by the home team or the university that paid the non-P5 college to visit. That will be the single worst thing to happen. Oh, did I miss something already? PS: I really am a cup is half full kind of person. Excited for IU basketball! And for the players getting some fair compensation. But wonder about the all mighty dollar and the corporations, etc. I have a wonderful family and friends...and actually, for real...I am not and never will be out of bourbon.

We all most likely realize as you do that ranking is secondary to winning. Especially early in seasons. Especially if it is not the metric used by the NCAAT selection committee. Having said all that, it is something that we fans can complain about or brag about. It is an easy handle to discuss and easily compare in an acknowledged not to deep way. Much easier than saying this team beat that team on day one by a few points and comparing that and a myriad of other parameters to a bunch of teams over time. Back to the point...IU will get ranked if they keep winning; do better in the 2nd half; keep control of turnovers (under 15 or so); and shoot well; assuming defense is excellent; keep healthy; beat tougher competition.

I lucked into guessing the St. Johns score. Even a blind pig can find a truffle every once in a while. str8H...thanks for doing the yeoman's work on this challenge. Let's see if my random number generator hits again in any of the upcoming games...

A couple of things...but, overall I agree with the above post. Phin should only handle the ball at PG only for very short periods if the defense needs boosting. And only if there are others in the CG/SG/CF/SF lineup that can create. There was a lineup in the second half that seemed to not have the spark. It may have been with Phin, Kopp and Stewart. Not sure though. I was shocked at Xavier not hitting critical free throws at the end of the game. And Phin missed two too. And TJD too. IU had 9 turnovers in the 2nd half and that along with Champagnie getting 22 points in the half almost killed IU. We needed someone to stop him. IU did well in the paint. But, if another team has a great inside defense then what will IU do? And when Posh Alexander got 4 fouls and taken out by St. J's coach...then put back in...why not set him up for the 5th foul and get him out of there? Our bench was really good. IU will need some serious scorers next year to replace those that will move on after this season. Between IU's inside game and the bench and the defense in the first half...that won the game. St. Johns scored 10 more points...47...than IU in the 2nd half. IU's lack of defense in the 2nd half almost lost the game. IU dodged the bullet...SSAH was great...loud as all get out all game....3 - 0! Fun stuff.

Hi. Online IU Athletics first. They have tickets for $48. Maybe some returns, I don't know. Stubhub and the thread in this fan site for tickets from other fans. Good luck. Read a little about being careful in any purchase. I know that people buy and sell and/or give away tickets just before the games...as one approaches the SSAH. Buying the latter way may not be legal...and they could be counterfeit...not that I have heard that. I gave away one once to a parent wearing IU gear.

From perspective of representing municipalities, schools, toll roads, or banks and/or those that package the bonds...municipal banking or financial advisors...? Personally, I don't have a dog in the hunt. But with the Finance BS from IU-B and close relatives worked for City Securities...just asking. Really looking forward to a challenging game against St.J! Will be interesting. I love the improvement in our team play from game 1 to game 2. Seems that St. J also had improvement in their game 2.
