  1. You mean 16 teams remaining...right? That or I don't follow...
  2. While I enjoyed 'Dwarf' best... What is apathy? Who cares? 'Bozos' had the "American Dream"...a bureaucratic dystopia...could never happen here...right!?* Their wordplay acrobatics, puns, social commentary and satire opened the door for many others to follow...like Python. Surreal and totally immersive... Far out. Vinyl was fun listening. Digital, today, just doesn't translate...that or life has changed me. * Speaking of Bozo and Monty Python...the 1985 movie Brazil is about a dark-comedy dystopian future that focuses on government bureaucracy and a dream. It was directed by Python's Terry Gilliam. It included actors Robert DeNiro, Kim Greist, Sir Michael Palin, and other greats. I loved it. My wife did not. Do not think that Brazil is Boys from Brazil. Despite its title, the film is not about the country Brazil nor does it take place there; it is named after the recurrent theme song, Ary Barroso's "Aquarela do Brasil", known simply as "Brazil" to British audiences, as performed by Geoff Muldaur. (Per Wiki.)
  3. I understand what you are saying. His time at IU was not productive. He had to go. Seems we are in agreement there. I do have a slightly different opinion on Archie Miller and his coaching. Contrary to some posts on this site, he did rebuild Dayton's team after Brian Gregoy left the cupboard bare. He also did a good job of getting the best out of his players at Dayton. I have repeatedly stated that it is my opinion that he did not get support that even Woody got from the IU Administration. Critically, he did not have the floor general that all teams need. (Since then, the IU Administration has learned to allow a new coach to bring in players from his previous school. Rhode Island may just be a tough place to build a team. They have won their conference twice in the last 40+ years. And they reached the NCAAT twice in the last 20. What a bunch of anonymous posters say on a fan site is not necessarily a great source of compelling facts. Except for Btown Banners, of course. It is always the coach's fault. Right? Looks at IU Trustees that forced Woody on the team...so who's fault is the recent performance of IU men's basketball team?
  4. Thanks for trying to bring Archie Miller back. He could walk on water if it was frozen. And thanks for not lying to us. Never crossed my mind. Roll another one...Just like the other one...This one's burned down to the end... Comon be a real friend.
  5. You mean more than Taco Mgbako and Ballo at the Bellagio? Whadyaknow? Whoa... (Actually, it is none of my business...and I do not want to know. Turns page.)
  6. I don't hate Pitino. But he was a coach of Yuck. And hired hookers and did not invite me. Pitino found himself at the center of multiple scandals during his time at Louisville. The NCAA vacated the Cardinals' 2013 national championship after Louisville was found to have given improper benefits to players — those benefits were sexual acts paid for by the basketball program for both recruits and current players. Rick Pitino sex scandal, explained: Revisiting the 2010 waitress extortion trial at Louisville | Sporting News For that, he will never, ever, be forgiven. That plus the St. J team just cannot shoot.
  7. IU ahead with 4:45 remaining in the 4th. 64 - 58
  8. I was catching some sun rays way south during the BTT. Hope that me and my better half don't get some mosquito or flea borne bug. Hope I don't have to get a horse dewormer. Or that awful light treatment. That would be a pain in the ... Neigh ga tive on that. Hope that you feel better quickly.
  9. He never was able to have another tournament run. True. But he did get into the NCAAT his last 4 years at Dayton. At Dayton...that is good. Archie was not in my top 5 of picks when he got tapped for the job. I was surprised. He did not have the basketball players with long arms and with the work ethic that was team oriented in his tenure at IU.
  10. The third paragraph misrepresents what happened the last two years at Dayton and why Brian Gregory left. Sure, he won a lot. But not in conference. The last two years of Gregory's coaching at Dayton resulted in dropping completely out of the picture of competing at high levels in the ACC. He went from 2nd to 7th and 8th in the conference and only got one NCAAT bid in his last 7 years there. Recruiting had dried up. For the University of Dayton...they saw no reason to extend the contract and Gregory knew he was on a slippery slope. Brian Gregory jumped ship as UD contemplated making him walk the plank. Miller came in and the cupboard was bare. According to Wiki: Miller became the head coach of the Dayton Flyers men's basketball team in 2011 and turned around a program that had back-to-back disappointing seasons. His first season with Dayton saw Miller take the school to 20 wins. In his third year, 2014, he had the Flyers in the Elite Eight with 26 wins; to get there, Dayton upset three higher seeded teams. After the Elite Eight run in 2014, Miller faced replacing three starters and four seniors from that team. Despite having a depleted roster featuring just six players who were recruited to Dayton and no active player taller than 6-foot-6, Miller led his Flyers to a 27–9 overall record and to the third round of the 2015 NCAA tournament. Miller's short stint at Dayton was the 2nd best coaching job at that university...second only to Don Donoher. I loved Miller's work at Dayton. It did not translate to the big time at IU. In my humble opinion...he was not a good fit. But IU administration did not seem to support him in many ways relative to building his team. Archie Miller had to go.
  11. True dat. Been reading some WVU fan sites. Lots of comments about the coaching turnover at WVU. Lots of sour grapes. Some question CDD's son's injury. Obviously more reaction about losing a good coach and hurting as fans. Here are a couple of partial posts from sites: "...to me this season was remarkable. I worry about the next hire because Devries was bringing in quality of recruits we haven't seen in awhile..."; "...DD struck gold with Javon… this year would have looked very different without him..."; ",,,Tucker DeVries shoulder surgery was a diagnostic shoulder arthroscopy btw. Nothing was fixed. ";
  12. Do you mean that IU just got an experienced college basketball coach that is a winner? Kind of similar resume to that of Coach Cignetti? Yee Haw! Go IU!
  13. Thanks for the GI Bill! I joined the Navy to see the world. Saw the inside of a submarine. And Virginia Beach for 27 months. Up and down ports on the Atlantc coast. And the North Sea and the Med. And back at you ,JH.
  14. Warmth after a long winter..and tax returns are filed. Visited Oahu and a friend's family on the north side...Kailua. Attended a Bon Dance. Father in Law was stationed in Sheffield. He met Boris Karlof in The House With No Key on Waikiki. We also, more recently visited Maui.
  15. Long story...short... Was in the Navy...submarine berthed at pier on other side of this island. Decided to bring someone...later. Honeymooners in Puerto Rico, St Croix, St Thomas and St. John. Visited St. Martin 7 years ago. This is our 47th year...
  16. This is a Sonofa Beach...St Croix USVI.
  17. IU 72, Oreos 69. Hi from St. Croix. Best natural area just south of us is a Sonofa Beach. I kid you not.
  18. Yeah. Noticed that. Mixed results on both offense and defense. Trying to get some rebounds. Ballo got his. Some got away from him. Actually, thought there were a few minutes in the middle of the 2nd half against Washington...IU momentum dropped and we lost six points, maybe 8 point run by Washington. Thought that started with our two bigs in the middle for 3 minutes or so. I'm probably misremembering. Last night, too many long rebounds went to Oregon. The fouling was because Oregon was quicker and we were desperate to stop them. I was surprised the whole game...thought Oregon would break it open the whole time. The end game was...uh...not good. And who gives the propaganda about Woody to the announcers? Woody's stare has improved in four years.
  19. I'm just glad we are playing tonight. Wednesday night, I will hit the sack early. Flight headed south on vacation early Thursday.... Beach, baby!
  20. I'm fired up for this game. Win on the road in a conference Quad 1 game. It is a big deal. Just do it. Go IU!
  21. BlueD...you just knocked this out of the park. Thanks for posting. Precious.
