I'm in full agreement with coonhounds. This very well could be their year. I don't even want to think about how nauseating the week leading up to the Final Four will be if they're in it. The Indy media will have story after story about them and will make sure to kick us while we're down. And if they actually won it all...again, I don't even want to think about it.

Pretty much how I feel. What makes them great right now is what used to make our teams great. We went away from it when we decided a 21-13 season was good enough to hire Mike Davis. We may get back to it if we can overcome 17+ years of letting our program turn into a three-ring circus with a culture of softness and sloppiness.

Did Matt Haarms repeat a grade or two when he was growing up? Just realized he'll be 21 in April and he's only a freshman.
-
Yeah...assuming none of them transfer. Pretty big assumption given our coach's track record.

Really, really wish we could have that Wisconsin game back.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
TheWatShot replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I didn't see the post on Peegs talking about a Friday announcement, but I'm gonna guess it said something like "his team is playing Friday on espnu...wouldn't it be cool if he announced for IU before the game?" which was then translated to "A poster on Peegs says he heard Romeo is announcing Friday before his game." -

If he goes to Vanderbilt to watch a game he'd better make sure he has some binoculars. -
IU vs Northwestern 1/14/18 Game Thread
TheWatShot replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Watched the game at a friend's house and we were cheering for defensive stops in the final minutes because we wanted to see if we could hold them under 40. I have to say it was a refreshing change from the layup lines we saw the past nine years. -
Yeah, as happy as I was that Glass went ahead and fired a reigning coach of the year instead of waiting to see more inevitable failure, this is a non-revenue sport, making it easier for him to just sweep it under the rug.

I figured they'd be pretty good, even with Swanigan gone, but what I'm struggling to comprehend is how they're THIS good. Is the Big Ten just that bad? Is college basketball that down? Do teams just struggle with their size because it's so unusual for a team to be playing 2 seven footers regularly in this day and age? Was Carsen Edwards just that underrated? Has their senior class just panned out that much better than even they could have envisioned? It just seems like so many things all had to happen for them to reach this point, and every single one of them did. Even crazier when you consider Painter was close to getting fired three years ago.

Honestly think it would take our best game to stay within single digits.
-
That's the third time in the last two years they've won a road game by one point after getting a foul call at the end. Seriously sick of these guys.
-
Sure has been nice of the league to completely crater for them the last couple years, though part of that is on us.

(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State
TheWatShot replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Blackford was one of the worst teams in the state before he went there. He has a cousin who's pretty decent, but other than that his supporting cast is terrible. They'd probably be winless right now if he hadn't gone there, and that's not an exaggeration. -
Amazing how much a post player can develop once he's free from the shackles of Tom Crean.

Purdue recently had him in for a visit. I've changed my mind about it being too early. Offer him now, Archie. -
Anyone saying they did is most likely 1) A Butler fan boy 2) Using hindsight to their benefit 3) Preferred the coach with the weaker resumé cuz Butler
-
I think both programs are in pretty good hands, and in a few years will be contending for Big Ten titles. It will be part of the league's next upcycle that will send Purdue back to around fifth/sixth place where they would normally reside when the league is strong.

Purdue fans get a little hot and bothered whenever I mention Painter's resumé isn't much different from Crean's. -
Final : Indiana 75 - Minnesota 71 | RoJo Career High
TheWatShot replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Why are so many people concerned about Morgan leaving? Is he graduating this spring? Seriously, 9 years of Tom Crean brainwashed so many of our fans into thinking every player who has a big game is NBA material. -
Extra water break next practice!

If my math is correct, he has scored 264 points in 9 games. -
I doubt Bennett would have come here since we fired his sister, who unfortunately did not have the same coaching prowess. Classic IU, always getting the inferior sibling.

I still have the PM conversations with someone who was certain we were getting Billy Donovan as long as Crean was fired, and said Donovan was ready to come here but IU wouldn't pull the trigger. It makes me sick. -

Plus, the NBA is on an upward trajectory and is shaping up to be the best it's been in a long time. I'm not a fan of the Super Team movement, but as far as quality of play, it's excellent. If you want to watch thugs, watch the NFL, where if you have the nerve to cover Rob Gronkowski and pick off a pass, you risk getting your neck broken while you lay facedown on the ground after the play.
