They chose IU as their Homecoming game? That is so 2023 and earlier. -

Thompson helped Alabama sign a top 15 class the last year he was there. This was a monumental upgrade to our staff. -

All our touchdowns in this place need to be no-doubters. Never forget this travesty: -
Time flies. I remember his "I'm a man, I'm 40!" tirade when it happened. He's almost 60 now.

No. 19/17 IUFB vs. No. 9/8 Illinois - Sat 9/20 @ 7:30 on NBC

It might be tough, but it can be overcome. Oregon played at OSU in 2021 with a noon kickoff and won. -
Anyone else think Illinois falling so far in the polls was another subtle jab at IU football? You think Illinois drops that far if OSU, PSU or Oregon beats them that badly?

Ryan Browne is probably good enough to get them 1-2 more wins. He was a Jeff Brohm recruit, and Brohm was excited about landing him. It helps that he's 22 years old and somehow only a sophomore.

(2027) PG - Chase Branham to INDIANA
TheWatShot replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
As you said, football is cool at IU now, and last night was kind of fun. Also, I think after the Woodson years, some of us have forgotten how to react to a high school commitment. I hope he doesn't reclassify, unless he's a freak of nature who could make an immediate impact. The end of the Crean era and the Archie years, it felt like we were always hoping kids would reclassify because we needed them so badly due to our many underperforming players and failing coaches. I'd rather get back to being able to wait on recruits because we're fine with what we have. -

Can't remember the last time we got a kid to commit this early. Probably during the Crean years? -

We've out-gained them by nearly 400 yards. -

We only have 3 home games left after tonight, but they should all be easy wins. If we're doing this to Illinois, then UCLA, Wisconsin and MSU should be absolutely dreading their visits here. -

We need a game like this next week, too. I hate playing in Kinnick. Officials like to make up rules if Iowa needs help late in close games there. -

Never would have guessed that Old Dominion would be our toughest game of the first four. -

Remember that basketball game where we blew out a top 10 Illinois team by hitting a gazillion threes? I'd love for this to be the football equivalent of that. -
Notre Dame's left tackle just fell asleep and gave Purdue new life.

I'd say there's a good chance none of those guys know anything about IU or Illinois and just went with Illinois because they're ranked higher. -

DeVries could be in for some sleepless nights in the second half of January. The following narratives will all be in play: "I knew we should have hired McCollum instead. He's recruiting better, too." "Dusty, Dusty, Dusty!!!" "Even Mediocre Mike could beat Purdue at home!" -
A foot injury requiring the walking boot is a rite of passage in this program.

I wish someone would write a book about our athletic department hiring the coaches it did and why they were kept for so long. We are the only fanbase I've ever heard that claims firing a failing coach too early will make us seem less attractive to better candidates, so we need to give them more time to fail and damage everything. It's baffling.
-
Glad it's them and not us. We probably would have given him 4 years.

No. 22 IUFB vs. Indiana State -- Friday, 9/12@6:30 on BTN

It's also kind of hilarious/frustrating that we have fans who still haven't caught on that a score like tonight is the way of the world now in college football when you want to go places. IU Facebook posts were full of comments from (maybe) fans saying things like "call off the dogs coach, we're too classy for this" and "this game doesn't help us in any way" etc. -
I might have been impressed by that if it wasn't a team with 5 star athletes all over the field facing a poverty program.
