    Can't believe Tulsa took a 5 second call when they had a timeout. College coaches are always over-coaching at the end of games and using timeouts when they don't need to. Weird to not see that happening here.

    I think they were just biding their time and trying to avoid injuries before the real tournament started, as #1 seeds sometimes do in the conference tourneys. But it made Purdue fans feel like they were a legit contender for a couple weeks, adopting the acronym "PGWTWDT" (Purdue's gonna win the whole damn thing) and that was kind of cute.

    Probably explains why they're petitioning for another year. They could have a 25 year old 6th year senior in their starting lineup next year and the Painter fanboys will continue to preach how Purdue does it "the right way."

    If Duke wins, the Final 4 will be Kenpom's top 4. If UConn wins, it will be 3 of the top 4 and Kenpom's kryptonite.

    I'm convinced Matt Painter has a few buddies on the selection committee. They've gotten terrific draws the last couple years. I recently went back over some old tournament games and came across Purdue-Wisconsin in the Elite 8 in 2000. Wisconsin finished 6th in the Big Ten that year and was an 8 seed. Purdue finished 6th in the Big Ten this year and was a 2 seed.

    Duke's men's and women's teams are playing Elite 8 games back to back today. Dreaming of the day we'd get to see something like that here.

    His announcement date was the same day as Archie Miller's birthday, which, given that we'd already endured 3 years of Archie Miller failures, gave us a glimmer of hope. That hope was dashed when Kaufman-Renn went to his high school's radio station to pre-record his announcement the night before, and the student running the station accidentally played it on live air later that evening.

    Next year, we begin our quest to become one of the few programs with multiple national titles in both major sports. Purdue will always be a trivia program (we may not have any titles, but have you seen our records against so and so?!)

    I had a thought earlier this week that UNC is probably one of a very short list of programs he'd ever consider leaving Purdue for. I don't think it will happen, but UNC would give him absolutely everything he needed and he wouldn't have to rely on diamonds in the rough turning into Wooden Award winners.

    I think it's getting overblown. He's been a west coast guy his whole career and turned down a lot of requests for interviews when he was an assistant at Gonzaga.

    Not getting my hopes up. We may beat them, but I still think they'll win more games than us and comfortably make the tournament again. They are losing a lot, though. Probably have to replace more now than they did post-Edey.
