IU Football 2019 Recruiting Class
lucel15 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Possibly......I think he’s realized his best chances for a pro contract is the nfl route whereas last year around this time he was pretty much set on playing basketball D1 level. Do I think he plays meaningful minutes....no. Could he provide at least a big body and nimble feet who isn’t afraid to make contact down in the post.....yes and do I think he puts that into his decision I’d say a slight chance just because of how long this has been drug out. -

Yeah. He was going to sign. But then rumblings of his position coach leaving were true. And also IU caught wind of PJ and Co up there. Basically took cheap shots and low blows at Tom Allen and staff. Tom Allen and co caught wind of it and got right back in Williams ear. He hasn’t been committed to Minny since beginning of January. Just hasnt made it public. I’d be surprised if Oregon gets the signature. I think it’s IU or Memphis. From my contact. -

There is a legit sincereness from his side and his passion to stay in state and play for IU. If this were December and I was told he’d still be uncommitted.......by now....I’d say you’re crazy because everything pointed to big boys. I’d still give upper hand to OSU and penn state. But from what I’ve heard and I live on the west side is there is a legit shot with IU. -

Knew Tim Weaver was coming should’ve dropped something or a hint.... but I’m a hs assistant wrestling coach and a middle school head coach. So I have been busy as of late. I like chances at Sanguitti spelling is way off there. I like our chances with getting Kristian Williams....I like TJ Jones but that one is like Powell everyone in both those guys camp is basically saying it’s too close. Latrell Jean (DT) I think is a take no matter what....even with Whitner moving from OL to DL (rumored where they see him actually) kid from IMG we just signed in December. I like our chances if we offer Tolliver. -

From what I’m hearing it’s basically a tossup. NC state insider just appeasing his fans and what he hopes for. Others close to IU camp believe it’s a close race. -

Wasn’t it to NC state -
Yeah I haven’t heard anything in particular, but ik the coaches were interested and highly involved in trying to get him here for a fresh start....if I had to guess this will be chalked up to grades if I had to say.
-
Yeah no matter who the HC is in this situation......mike hart and Sheridan have value and he wanted to clean house.....next. I would’ve given him a chance, but to say Tom Allen is going to Tom Allen....lol that’s funny. Sheridan and Hart weren’t the problems and they are some of our best recruiters and you’d be fine if they were just banished. Lol

I mean I never stated anything on his game I just answered someone’s question on his eligibility. And right now I believe he wouldn’t be immediately eligible given rules. However there are waivers that can be processed and appeals which given the latest landscape....he would be given the thumbs up. Going off his HS film there is potential.....idk what type of player he is anymore, but he fills a need if we can’t find another WR for this class.....I’m willing to give him a chance before writing him off and comparing him to another player.

I’m hesitant about Canada a little bit, but I am not holding the LSU thing against him. There’s a reason he left/was let go. coach o didn’t let him run his offense. He didn’t do jack squat at LSU for that reason. I think he’s a creative coach and does what he can with the talent he’s given, when allowed to run his own offense.
-
I wanted to also say as of right now if he gets into IU....yes you are correct he has to sit a year.....my initial comment or first quote was it wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t sitting come first game. Whether he plays. I’d say he has a higher than 50/50 chance to get waiver or appeal heard.
-
Nope he’s already turned in transcripts and everything. Just waiting to hear back from the school is what I’ve heard. And I believe he could be eligible immediately...given how transfers have panned out the past year and how many kids were granted immediate eligibility citing coaching changes or stuff like that

This is true. There is mutual interest from staff. Right now we are his only school

If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?
lucel15 replied to yogisballin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Is it bad that I’m not a fan of really any big time companies. Lol. Nike’s products have gone to the crapper and I think adidas is far more superior than what Nike is putting out. Now they don’t have the money like Nike, but as a consumer and seeing where adidas is trying to go I’d prefer them haha. No changes please. If we do heck let’s go with puma haha -
How doesn’t this help with recruiting? Womack is one of the most highly thought of coaches on the staff when it comes to recruiting. He was the one that went down and convinced James Miller to come up to IU. He was head recruiter of Cam Williams. He got one of most athletic linebackers I’ve seen committ to IU in this signing class in Kervens. He helped improve a lowly defense I. South Alabama. So what if he has ties to Tom Allen from the past. Most head coaches hire from within their circle and guys that they trust or have a good relationship with. And nowadays you can’t just run a 4-3 or change the philosophy. You have to cover against spread offenses.
-
So Hart sucks? Shelby sucks? Sheridan sucks? Allen sucks I guess now?
-
Good move imo, you figured that move would be coming given his background of running and working in a 4-2-5 defense and his relationship with CTA. Young guy who so far has proven his worth, not just at IU but was already a DC somewhere else. It’s a good move because this scheme is what he’s basically known his whole career. I don’t think this ruffles hagena feather at all....and I’m sure Hagen will get a bump in pay to just say hey stay we appreciate you.

Yes that was in an interview with a radio station in Louisville I believe. This interview I’m talking about was his press conference today after the signing day stuff. -

In the interview or press conference. I’m pretty sure that Allen said. “I know I have to hand over the defensive play calling, I will still have a hand in prep, but I need to become that coach who oversees all parts on game day and is there for every person on this team” something along those lines and then went in to acknowledge he knows he didn’t manage his time well and that time needs to be shared with the players, and not just the defensive players and scheming. So I’m pretty confident that after today’s interview we should hear from allen at some point saying he’s no longe DC and HC -

Yes I would like to see more results and less talk but Allen never said he was going to let go of play callings in the offseason last year. I believe he will follow through. But old friend I guess we will have to wait until he announces it and wait until the fall. But hey happy signing day -

I would suggest if you can find the Coach Allen interview about signing day, do so and watch it. He’s growing as a HC alluded again that there will be changes on his behalf on how he handles this program. He knows he needs to fully hand over the D, he will still be involved at practices, just not calling plays. He spoke with a conviction I truly have not seen in him. He’s always been passionate, but that meeting was just different at least in my mind I felt he looked and spoke differently. I’m excited to see how this young team grows and develops especially with the addition of this class. Let’s get 3-5 more signed in february. Man today was a fun day. -

From what I know is his senior film came out and those big boys loved it. I considered him a semi project but he had potential just based on his frame. He’s an early enroll I believe and I think he’s on 2 deep come fall -

The Matthew Bedford get was huge. This staff was able to hold off two schools that wanted him bad, South Carolina and Miss State. -
You are correct we don’t really know. Rumor is and it’s just what I’ve heard is OC was going a new route. More pure dual threat etc.....just look how hard they pushed to get Jayden Daniels who just recently committed to ASU. From everything I’ve read and old interviews I found Tuttle can extend better than what suds couldn and definitely Lagow. I would say top speed he’s slightly slower than Ramsey, but he looks athletic enough to extend the play. He’s no penix or shea Patterson or mcsorely, but from what I saw on film he knows rpo given we keep debord right now since no announcement or anything since end of season. But most schools run some type of rpo I feel like.
