That third down throw there to Paige is why Lagow is the starter. Hella throw into a small window. -

Let's go!!!!! Great call coach with the play action. Great blocking creating a pocket, great awareness by Lagow keeping his eyes downfield and extending the play, great play by Westbrook continuing his route back to where the QB could see him. Perfect execution all around. -

Our schedule is shaping up really well. PSU and NW are looking a lot weaker than expected. Nebraska is looking a lot stronger than expected. Contingent upon beating Wake, I would say: Expected to win: PU, Rutgers, Maryland Winnable: NW, PSU Dog: Nebraska, MSU Highly unlikely: UM, OSU I don't want to get my hopes too high on an 8 win season: Rutgers and Maryland are true wild cards with new coaches. I expect to beat them both (finally Rutgers especially) but it's hard to tell how good these two teams are at this point. -

I'm looking forward to this one. This is a game we should dominate, but if we let Wake stick around they will capitalize. They have a stingy D and like to run the ball. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/wake-forest-qb-hinton-out-2-4-weeks-with-knee-sprain-091916 Hinton being out helps us. He had a few crazy plays against us last season where it looked like we had him for a loss. Similar to the play last week from Riley Neal. This game is where we should see the benefits of Coach Allen as DC and his preaching of sound tackling all offseason. On offense I'm sure CKW will continue to try and assert the run game and out muscle the opponent given the strength of our line. However, I'd like to see the playbook open a little more and Lagow given some more opportunities to take shots downfield, or more timing sidelines throws. -
It's about time the Mecca of college basketball will have a grand entranceway! Looks gorgeous!

You're right about that but I don't think their winning or losing has much effect OSU/UM/MSU getting more quality talent from the Midwest. It's half a dozen of one half of another. I'm more worried about UMD and Rutgers in the B1G with increased budgets and living up to their potential.
-
I don't see the correlation: OSU, ND and Michigan all recruit nationally. OSU gets it pick of the litter in Ohio, ND and Michigan get next pick. OSU and ND can't get everyone in Ohio since they recruit nationally. We don't really recruit the state of Michigan. If any team slacks, there are enough schools lurking in Ohio (MSU, UK, WVU, Pitt, Cincy) where someone else will get those prospects. The top schools are already getting who they want. Maybe MSU would get an uptick, but even during the Weis era ND was getting solid talent I don't think the other B1G schools were any better than they are now. Basically, I hope ND loses all their games![emoji23]

Good! I hope they join the ACC already.

Students stayed for the OSU game if I remember correctly. I remember the ABC broadcast was impressed with our atmosphere in the second half. I think as Lucel said the MSU game has huge potential. If we are 3-0, that night game will be rocking. And if we play them close I think we'll see a consistent crowd. And if by small chance we win, there will be a huge party on Kirkwood!
-
We drew just over 44K hosting MSU in 2014. Granted we were 2-3, but it was a 3:30 ESPN game. Given a win against Wake next week, over/under 44K for MSU? I believe the MSU game is a night game.

We are going to annihilate Wake. We shouldn't need to do anything fancy on offense except run the ball. Our offensive line will be too physical for them. I like this matchup a lot more than the BSU one last week. Speaking of the ACC, has anyone seen home opener attendance numbers? Wake's home opener: just over 24K Duke's home opener: 35K opening weekend which is good, but then only 21K against Wake which is pathetic considering how close the two schools are.

I'm not worried about WR, Westbrook is ready to be the guy. In addition to Mitchell Paige, we have Ricky Jones who hasn't been involved much this season. We have Donovan Hale, Luke Timian, Isaac Griffin, and Marqui Hawkins ready to play. Camion Patrick can play WR. We also know CKW loves to play freshmen later in the season (see Westbrook last year). You have to think one of Taysir Mack, Kiante Enis, Jonah Morris or Phil Benker will get a shot at playing time. Let's just hope Feeney doesn't have any adverse after effects from the concussion. It sucks no IUFB to look forward to this weekend!!!

I agree with Lucel and Crean'sTheMan, some of the criticism of Lagow isn't fair. Yes, his awareness was off at times. But the conservative play calling led to many third and long situations. I think we all forget that Sudfeld had accuracy problems and at times went through cold streaks. At the same time it's hard to fault the play calling. We have the best offensive line in the B1G, our defense is playing tough, we should be able to run over a G5 team no problem at all. Take away the blocked punt TD and this game looks much better for our play calling. Although, it is concerning because not staying aggressive in the fourth quarter is a common criticism of CKW's play calling. The bye week will help. Lagow will get better with experience. And honestly, I expect the same game plan versus Wake Forest in two weeks. We will run the ball and slowly open up the playbook. Wake has an anemic offense, we shouldn't need to do anything too fancy to beat them.

I think your dejavu is from the Rutgers game, where they recovered a blocked punt for a TD to get back in the game. Defense has held up so far, offensive play calling has been extremely conservative and hasn't helped us with any scoring. We can blame Lagow for being indecisive but we can't keep putting him in third and long situations and expect him to succeed.

Cool recruiting commentary on Coach Allen's son. Going to be a huge get for us. EDIT: wrong thread[emoji13]
