Matt Roth nor Grant Gelon should have had a scholarship on any Indiana team that hopes to contend for the accolades our fan base expects. Roth came in during a desperate time in the program, and Gelon came in when even Tim Prillers and Jeremiah Aprils were scholarship recipients. Roth would have been great on a mid-major squad, in my opinion. Beautiful shot, but extremely limited in his effectiveness in extended minutes. Having perspective is a definite show of intelligence. To chalk up Crean's tenure as a "disaster" demonstrates a complete lack of perspective, in my opinion. I'm glad it's over - the inconsistency was miserable to deal with - but those good years were a whole lot of fun. Indiana was a hot topic in college basketball again during Crean's tenure. Now it's on Archie to bring consistent success - a much harder task than simply bringing us back to relevance for periods of time like Crean did.

It means, do what you want. Not fans, not Dad, not Alpha Dogs, etc.

Judge him the same way you judged Crean. Crean took Marquette (powerhouse) to the Final Four Alford adopted a Bruins program that was coming off massive success under Howland Alford has had some of the best recruiting classes every year at UCLA Check out Alford's AjdD KenPom numbers. He's literally Crean with more talented players.

We'd have to look at that information in the light of how many of the top 25 ish players are committed to Nike schools in each of those years. If all of the top 25 are Nike kids, it becomes much less significant.
