So basically, Iowa fans are talking exactly like some of you talk about IU, like they're invincible........
-
Well, no he couldn't have been. 3 straight losses, Maryland hasn't lost more than 1 in a row as of right now. And a lost to Nebraska, who they haven't lost to, and losing twice at home, which again Maryland hasn't done
-
In what world is beating Kansas on a neutral court not an impressive win? Or beating Providence, or beating Louisville? Seriously, I'm starting to be convinced that some of you guys don't think any team has a single quality win, unless they're wearing crimson and cream.
-
Well shows how much I follow the Rockets. Still maintain what I said. I guess I could see him going late in the first. But, teams don't use lottery picks on 23 year old seniors, turns 23 in May, whose bodies haven't filled out, don't have a plus wing span, and don't grade out as a plus athlete
-
Eh, I'd be shocked if a NBA team would take him in the lottery. Dekker was/is a better player and he can barely even see the court.
-
So we should just be playing Turner 30 minutes a night every night at this point right? No more of this LaVoy Allen or Jordan Hill bull crap.
-
Fair enough. And probs because they got so much love early, whereas most national talking heads still had questions about us.
-
Yeah, because this is an IU board. Nobody here is gushing about Maryland beating some really bad teams, like they are with IU.

Indiana v. Northwestern POSTGAME Thread
KingPG21 replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't think anyone of significance. Van Fleet and Baker were the big 2. I want UK, so people can see how overrated Skal was coming out of high school. Kind of want LSU too, just cause I want to watch Simmons -
Indiana v. Northwestern POSTGAME Thread
KingPG21 replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Well yeah, they aren't very good -
I agree with solid. Might make the dance, honestly not going to be even the slightest bit surprised when they don't again. But solid, and yeah I'm happy with the performance.
-
Wait, what has NW done to qualify as being "pretty good"? Must have missed it following the weak non-conference schedule and the losses to Ohio State and Penn State in conference. Really hope people don't manufacture NW into something they aren't

Its almost like everyone said, and that Blatt wouldn't work.... weird

Is Thomas Bryant a one and done?
KingPG21 replied to jdailey1981's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If he could get with a strong coach, or assistant coach it would help him. Look at Lance Stephenson with Brian Shaw, or to an extent Paul George. Lance was essentially a child, really he still is to an extent. But when he was with the Pacers with Shaw we didn't really see much of this, like he did a choke sign towards LBJ in the playoffs, but otherwise nothing. He goes to Charlotte and he pouted more than actually play basketball, and now with the Clippers he can't get off the bench -
Is Thomas Bryant a one and done?

Kind of OT Say you're a NBA GM, and you can choose Vonleh (when he was coming out of college, and disregarding his first year and a half so far) or you can have Bryant. Who do you take? Maybe because I am a Pacers fan and our best rebounding big man right now is Jordan Hill, which makes me sad beyond belief, but I'd take Vonleh ever single time. The offensive versatility he has shown, or flashes there. The being an absolute monster on the boards, the potential defensively. I just bring this up because the comparison between the two is so easy. And I guess the potential to be something special in the NBA that I saw/see with Vonleh, I really don't see the same with Bryant. I think he'll be good, but probably not a ton more than a serviceable starter, to good starter in his prime. -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
KingPG21 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Top end athlete, high-volume scorer, and versatility. Sounds like a guy Crean would really like. I guess saying a kid who is in the 2018 class needs to work on his "elite ball handling" isn't that bad, I mean he still has years of high school to work on it. -
Vonleh and Portland going to be on ESPN tonight at 10:30.

Dude, you're coming to the "Fire Tom Crean" thread, and basically telling others to eat crow, and you can't really disagree with my opinion because X, Y, and Z. That is great that you have a more optimistic point of view of the program, but you're coming to this thread and talking about how it should be locked or shut down. You're being antagonistic, whether intentional or not. There have been guys who have come to this thread who hold optimistic views of the program, but haven't been even the slightest bit antagonistic about it. If I went a found a Pro-Crean thread and started talking the way you are, if we start losing again, I would have people jumping down my throat because I would be antagonistic towards the purpose of that thread. Okay. But, we really shouldn't be giving him a pass going forward based on one year. It is just the whole argument of when do we really start judging Crean's tenure boiled down to a one season, or season by season case. I maintain it should be a whole resume situation.
-
Who cares what other programs are doing. We aren't Purdue, or Michigan State, or Maryland. If you guys actually think that highly of our program you shouldn't be using the argument, "See we aren't shitting the bed like these other programs, Crean deserves even more time!" Defensively they're playing better. Offensively there hasn't been a single adjustment to what we've ever seen with Crean. Every year since 2011-2012 we have games where they look like world beaters offensively like this year with Ohio State and Illinois. And then we have games were a bunch of guys just stand around and watch one guy dribble the air out of the ball a lot, like most of that Minnesota game, Rutgers was a lot of the same. The same thing we see with Bryant, not being able to get him the ball consistently game to game, or even within game, we saw with Zeller and we saw with Vonleh. You're giving him some weird credit for making a nonexistent change to literally anything they are doing offensively.
-
Yeah this. I love that we've blown out O$U, and Illinoy. But again, lets see what we do against teams that don't suck, and more importantly in the tourney before we make proclamations about what he is doing.
-
..... What? We're not even halfway through conference play yet, and we've played one conference team that wasn't god awful. Cool the jets, we've seen one Tom Crean coached Indiana team that played their best ball at the end of the year. Wait until the end of the year for comments like we calling out people because they can't challenge your opinion.

Is Thomas Bryant a one and done?
KingPG21 replied to jdailey1981's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So Daniel Orton is what they're trying to say he would end up being. I've kind of stayed away from this comparison cause Orton didn't play much at UK. But it is still pretty apt, Orton had plenty of upside like others have pointed out with Bryant. Bryant just happens to be playing in a situation that he can showcase his ability, whereas Orton sat behind some kid who was a beast named DeMarcus Cousins. Dude needs to, and should come back for another year -
Some of you guys choose the weirdest things to pick out about other programs. Like really?
