We can't let media talking heads dictate where we move with our program. I doubt any coach places any value in what Jay Bilas and those alike think about any potential destination. A lot of the media talking heads are ex coaches. They all stand up for each other, regardless of whether a coach is meeting expectations. They act like each guy is entitled to a lucrative lifetime contract that comes with zero expectations. Seth Greenberg is the worst. Constantly harping on how hard these guys jobs are but conveniently leaves out the fact that they get paid a Kings ransom to perform at or below the level of other coaches being paid less than half. I agree that the media will bash the decision to fire Crean. That still won't matter. We will get a great coach this go round.

A top 10 player rarely impacts winning a national championship unless you can pair him with multiple others in his class.

Combination of things. One being the fact that Crean left starters in until 1:30 left in the game. The other reason I think he's transferring is bc he is clearly showing that he's the better player between he and Newkirk, yet Newkirk is getting his minutes. With Newkirk not going anywhere next season, i have a feeling that Green may seek opportunity elsewhere.

Agree. Changes when these schools have competitive teams and some hype around the program. This penn state team (and NW for that matter) have some momentum building. Regardless, this IU team is capable of losing to IPFW with an insanely pro IU crowd. Not saying we shouldn't be favored to win at PSU, but I personally don't think we win the game. I hope I'm wrong.

This article just furthers my belief in the rumors that Crean is an ego maniac. I can't imagine that in 19 years, not a single person close to Crean has suggested to abandon his subbing strategy. I can't think of a single championship caliber coach to have success with this strategy. For being a guy that pays such close attention to advanced statistics, he sure misses some very obvious stats that clearly highlight deficiency. I wish he would stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Zero in on what the greats are doing and replicate the process. Seems as though he's not as committed to growing and improving at the rate he expects of his players.

Something tells me that they will have a nice crowd for us. At least respectable. We shall see.

I'm in the camp that says you handle the DG situation privately. He embarrassed Green far more than Green embarrassed Rutgers. Not condoning Green doing what he did but there are better ways to teach him not to do that.

Reply to ryno, in regards to Billy Donovan: I'm not a believer in Marshall at all but Donovan would absolutely dominate at Indiana. He did what he did at a school where basketball played 3rd fiddle behind football and baseball. He's elite. He can consistently recruit, develop, x's & o's, etc. Give him a blueblood program and he'll be consistently in Final Fours in no time. He's also very well respected amongst the professional ranks. Imagine him recruiting now, considering what he can pitch to the elite players. I would be beyond excited if we were lucky enough to land Billy D....Brad Stevens is my obvious #1 choice, but Billy Donovan is not far behind by any stretch of the imagination. He's a homerun hire. One of the few.

I used to bring this up but got tired of getting chewed out for having that opinion. It's the truth. Elite coaches that are elite at all levels, get programs turned around in very short order.

Troy Williams was a Jordan Brand All American which had basically everyone from the McDAA game. If you make that game you are McD's quality. Sam Decker missed the McD's game but made the Jordan game.

If Newkirk is coming in for Jones, I'm gonna have a stroke.
