  1. I don't have a problem if it does (that is, for if we're waiting on a real player like Romeo, not an imaginary one like Ivan), as long as the lesser recruit isn't mocking us for us ridiculously thinking we have a chance with the high-level recruit when we really don't. And, it's not like we don't have plenty of offers out there; we do. In-state for '18 I believe we already have offers out to Romeo Langford, Robert Phinisee, and Damezi Anderson, along with 'next state over' offers to J Hunter, Johns, Bazley, etc. Not to mention '19 offers to Keion and Jackson-Davis in-state (and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few). But, when we get a chance to not plaster the country with offers, or offer way too early to a 'maybe we want him' recruit at the expense of a better one, we do ourselves a disservice.
  2. Nope. That's not the primary reason why it's such good news. The best part? It gives a clear impression that an IU offer is something to be coveted, and that if you get one, you're special. Want this dynamic to be further magnified as our roster quality improves.
  3. That is a zero-information article vis-a-vis his true intentions or thoughts on any school.
  4. Good. It would scare the crap out of me if Michigan had an in-depth, on campus look at him and decided he wasn't offer-worthy.
  5. Many on the current IU squad have already tweeted some version of "Congrats to OG#cheesecake"
  6. And, knowing OG, "cheesecake" is not a code word for hookers and blow. With OG, "cheesecake" is a code word for... cheesecake.
  7. NBA draft reporter Allyson Williams: "OG, now that you've been drafted, what are you going to do to celebrate tonight?" OG: "Get some cheesecake." Allyson: "Get some fruit on top or just plain cheesecake?" OG: "Plain cheesecake. I enjoy that." Allyson: (starts giggling at the absurdity of trying to do a standard jock interview of Oguagua Anunoby) Yes, word for word, that was really his answer. And yes, OG is one outstanding, unconventional dude.

  9. Lewis "Lewjack" Jackson, former four year starter for Purdoodoo at point guard, has been arrested for being a heroin dealer. Not an addict, not a user. 700 grams on him; worth about $14,000. If charges are proven? Pathetic person, he is: http://www.jconline.com/story/sports/college/purdue/basketball/2017/06/21/former-purdue-player-lewis-jackson-arrested/416113001/
  10. That's good news: Romeo ain't gonna end up at Purdoo or Arizona, and therefore maybe Sean can put in good word for his brother! In all seriousness, I am reasonably certain that the Langfords are going to have a level-headed, real handle on the entirety of Romeo's situation. He may end up at UK, UNC, IU, or who-knows where, but I'm very convinced that it will be with a full sense of the plusses and minuses of each, and that there will be no heavy-sell by Calipari that will change that decision equation.
  11. I saw Justin Smith play in the Derby Classic, and he was a true 3/4 size and strength player. In comparison, Clifton Moore looks really tall, and it's not because of a workout.
  12. He turned it up a notch when Archie walked in ;)
  13. Here's the rub: Cole Swider's from the east coast. His dream school is Duke. Keion Brooks is from Indiana. His dream school is Indiana. If Crean was connecting with kids, parents and coaches in-state, he would have done the same thing. Archie's got this. Inside out, baby. Inside out.
  14. Picture of JaQuan Lyle with his new wheels that he put on Instagram just after committing to Louisville. Big smile, "L" hand signal, and new car:
  15. Uh-oh. That's not the only 'offer' he has: CELEBRITY CHEFS Anthony Bourdain offers to 'rearrange' David Duke's kneecaps Published March 03, 2017 Fox News
  16. I'm gonna disagree with both of you! It is not about legality in the strictest criminal sense. (I mean, yes, prostitution is illegal, but is a barely-punished misdemeanor for the John). More importantly, the NCAA is not a court of law with due process and everything that goes with it. Therefore, the NCAA has absolutely NO criminal legal recourse over its member institutions. On the other hand, as a private regulatory body that has member institutions which decide to join it, the NCAA is able to make moral and ethical judgments over those institutions, as long as their decisions are contractually supported and do not violate basic protected class parameters. If there are moral and ethical provisions that are contractually supported? They may punish at will in a contractually supported manner.
  17. Well...given the recruiting picture of him, doesn't appear to be an immediate relative. If he was, that would be truly notable ;)
  18. Ouch. Unfortunate name, and not because of the university.
  19. They will have room for Romeo. However, a low-class mess as a headline article on the program right next to your home area is most definitely very bad news for UL's chances of effectively recruiting Romeo.
  20. I dunno. Seems like if they vacate the wins the penalties are pretty harsh and then some. From the Rick Bozich article on the penalties: LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — In perhaps the harshest penalties ever assigned to a Division I men’s basketball program in the modern era, the University of Louisville must vacate its basketball records from 2010 through 2014 under penalties handed down by the NCAA infractions committee on Thursday in connection to the sex-for-recruits scandal in the men’s basketball program. Louisville won the 2013 men's basketball title and also appeared in the 2012 NCAA Final Four. Cardinals’ coach Rick Pitino was given a five-game suspension, to be served during U of L’s first five Atlantic Coast Conference games. Director of basketball operations Andre McGee, who was found to have arranged the stripper parties in the men’s basketball dorm, was given a ten-year show cause penalty. The program faces four years of probation going forward, and must vacate the records from the 2010-14 seasons, which could include 123 victories, two Big East Conference Championships, and an American Athletic Conference championship. The school will be ordered to return its financial shares from four NCAA Tournaments. There will be no further post-season ban or reduction of scholarships. Louisville took itself out of the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournaments, even though the Cardinals finished 23-8 and projected as a possible No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament after they finished fourth in the ACC regular season. Louisville added to the self-imposed penalties by reducing the number of players on scholarship last season from 13 to 11 and by cutting back on the number of recruiting visits and off-campus recruiting trips and contacts by the coaching staff.
  21. In my guesstimate order of most-likelihood: Brandon Johns: Seems like the overwhelming favorites are IU, Michigan, and maybe Purdue. We are at 50%+. Phinisee: Even if we get a superstar point, there are plenty of guard minutes and he could be the team QB as an upperclassman. I think we are the favorites here too. Damezi Anderson or Aaron Henry: I think we get an in-state 6'5" defensive minded swingman, and I think that if we push hard enough one of these two will be Hoosiers. Race Thompson: We are among the favorites. Equal or above amongst his top five. The prodigal son Romeo: I starting to see lots of reasons for him to be a Hoosier. Put us at 30% or better. Hopefully, UL gets hammered in ten minutes and those odds only get better.
  22. Ummm...have you guys noticed which kids Archie seems primarily to be focused on for 2019? For players over 6'6": Keion Brooks 5* James Wiseman 5* Trendon Watford 5* Matthew Hurt 5* Kofi Cockman 5* Trayce Jackson Davis That would be the year we lose Juwan and by then, potentially DeRon, and Archie is not playing around. The other killer-good news? Each of those five star kids (save for Cockburn as far as I can tell) seems to already have significant interest in IU.
