B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread
Stuhoo replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
A 6'9" unranked kid who was the fourth leading scorer on a good high school team. Alrighty then. Their other f/c recruit is not very well thought of either. Illinois is filling their roster with project (at best) bigs. -

Michael Finke, Illinois will transfer out. That makes four from Illinois gonzo: Mark Smith, Leron Black, Lucas, Finke. Probably good for Illinois to revamp the roster for the long haul, but Underwood is gonna try to do it with only one current recruit with a real pulse. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I love the fact that Darius Bazley was one of the more impressive players, because when he went head-to-head with Jerome Hunter this season, Jerome kinda lit him up and shut him down. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

As my first year IU torts professor (shoutout to Prof Dworkin) said: If you look at the weather forecast before bed and hear that there will be 8 inches of snow falling, and then wake up in the morning to see eight inches of snow on your lawn, it's circumstantial evidence that the snow fell from the sky. It is, however, compelling circumstantial evidence. Players like Billy Preston, Josh Selby, Cliff Alexander, Josh Jackson, and so many others at Kansas have compelling circumstances that very strongly indicate they were paid by some entity, at a minimum a shoe company or agent. That doesn't mean that the evidence has been fully vetted, or that the KU staff was part of the payments or discussion. But the KU staff could see the compelling circumstantial evidence as easily (in fact, more easily) than we could. -

WOW do I ever disagree! The UK players dorm is NOT a place for the players to "mingle and do everything other normal college students do." And do I have evidence of that? Boy do I ever: -
Keita Bates Diop to forgo his fifth year (redshirted one year) and enter the draft: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22916723/ohio-state-buckeyes-forward-keita-bates-diop-enter-nba-draft

Kyrie Irving was at Duke for a few minutes too. Probably the best or second best guard on the planet currently.

No. Pursuing multiple very good options for big, athletic rim protectors. Also, Archie gets to hang out with his family in the Pittsburgh area while he’s scouting. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Okay my friend, I am here to help: Deep breath; you can still watch the game. Have a beverage poured - scotch rocks preferably. Keep composure - one of these dirt factories will win. Nova will be waiting... patience. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Nothing quite like having a super smart point guard. NC last year, Simpson for UM this year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

It also feels like everyone (many?) have said their piece on this off-topic tangent. So, WHAT SAY WE GET THIS THREAD BACK ON TOPIC? Thanks all. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Is it me, or does the concept of a “blackout” used to express displeasure by wearing black shirts not really exist in any other circumstance that I’ve ever heard of? And while I wasn’t there and have no idea as to the extent of the situation, to get the inference that a “blackout” to send a message that some wanted the black coach out is not a stretch. If I was Mike Davis, who by all accounts is a really good guy, and I saw something like that, I’d be saddened. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yes. While he was nowhere as good as Roth at the high school level, I don’t dismiss that he could’ve worked hard on his game, not partied too much, and used that good shooting stroke to become a usable piece. That wasn’t who he was, however. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Don’t want to unnecessarily trash him. Let’s just say, I agree that Gelon could’ve been a nice piece with his ability as a shooter. However, he was no Roth. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Agreed, and I agree with you that Gelon’s skill set could have gotten to Roth’s level. Where I disagree is whether Gelon was anywhere near Roth’s level from the neck up; whether he could have worked hard enough and partied “less enough” to develop. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Nope - all he had in common with Roth was on the basketball court. Roth was a higher level kid IMO. And that matters a lot too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
