Official 2016-17 IUBB Preseason Thread
Stuhoo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
DeRon Davis looks exhausted, and not in especially fit body shape. MSB looks more athletic than DD does. -

The player I noticed the most was Juwan. He looks as quick and explosive as any guard on the team. TB looks quicker, not so much for DeRon. Newkirk is vocal and looks excellent. MSB has gained a lot of muscle, but still is slow. CuJo has a really sweet stroke-tons of good wrist action. CTC running the whole show and using the hour as a great recruiting tool. -

It feels like CTC has matured (or been forced by the university administration to mature) in his approach to the type of kid he recruits. Character issues are now a deal-breaker, no matter how talented a player might be, or what state they're from. -
Who ever thought there'd be a college with the problem of "too much Beejay"!

Holy crap. 22 points, no fouls and one TO is pretty outstanding. Can they keep him off the opening day roster? I can't imagine how. -

Ooof. #307 in the 2017 class per the 247 composite. OSU beat out Miami of Ohio, George Washington, and Western Kentucky for a 5'11" low ceiling point guard.. -
Put the hard sell on Mo Bamba to attend Hoosier Hysteria, ya know, the usual. (Don't get all worked up y'all, I know nothing)

I am not pleased. After the game, I'm going to explain to the referees that they were mistaken. -

Thomas Bryant will be a complete monster this year. Look out 'Merica. The young Hoosier is gonna be too much to handle. -

I'm just wishing we'll have Feeney. -
Go Hoosiers.

"We" are Indiana Hoosiers and their fans on an Indiana basketball message board, and "we" are fans of a team that has a legitimate chance to win a national championship this year. If by "we are just getting started" you mean "with Duke over-hype", then I agree. But, the solution to that is...don't participate in Duke over-hype on this board. They are merely one of many teams that can go far this year. (PS: Duke's best player has repeatedly tried to trip opposing players, and that's kinda pathetic.)

He ain't gonna be a '4' at 7'2". Perimeter ability at that size and still zero stars on the 247 composite? That sounds like a big guy that refuses to go to the rim. I suppose the zero stars could be because he hasn't been in the US very long, though. Averaged 3.0 ppg and 2.5 rpg in a few contests with Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas last high school season. Appeared to have a few low-end power conference interests; Colorado pulled their interest when they beat Purdoodoo for Evan Battey last week. To say that he is a "project big" would be an understatement. To say that he is closer to Jeremiah April than Haas or Hammons coming out of high school would be far more accurate. -

Whenever I hear a coach talking about making things "simpler", I start to worry about that player. I wouldn't worry yet. CTC is accurately identifying his past problems. He hasn't been cleared to play since then, so I think he is saying that the fixes for them are only "hopes" until we see them implemented on the court. -
Some head scratchers early, and big success in the tourney. 10-3 12-6 Minimum Final 4
-
You guys realize that would include OG and Victor.

Yes! This is why I'm a fan: Unusual skill set (6'10" with a plus handle and range) and a great kid. You can build strength, but ya can't build height in a young player. ITH article says coach Chuck M was watching him all summer very quietly so that no one would see our interest and join the hunt. I like that a lot too.

Yessssssirrrreeeee. Get the protein shakes and Lionel Anderson on standby.
