Using IU to leverage a big $$$ extension from UVA? That I could see.
-
I don't see Bennett leaving a top 15 ACC program.
-
I still think CTC is a good man, but real results after awhile is also a requirement. Ive reached the point where I don't see real results coming. I will not defend every potential replacement hire: but I'm okay with Archie, Hoiberg, and maybe Mack. I'm also not the least bit interested in posts that suggest guys that will not be interested in IUBB such as Wright, Self, Bennett, Alford, Sean Miller, etc.

Only been at UF for 1+ years. I can't imagine he'd be ready to change addresses again so soon. Great young coach though.
-
Hoiberg would be an extremely wise, completely excellent hire for any high major college program. Other than Stevens and Donovan, I can't imagine who would be a better combination of youth, charisma, player appreciation, detail and hard work , and big program experience and results. AND... with Hoiberg I betcha the current players and recruits would overwhelmingly want to stay at IU.

Hey...I've seen plenty of posters in the internet state that Glass will never fire CTC after this year. Someone's wrong, and milehi is pretty dialed in!
-
Most venerable poster Milehiiu on the 247 board is very far from a Crean hater. He just posted that there is movement toward an amicable split. FWIW

I think that whatever UK is paying their players this year, it isn't enough. During last night's seven point win at corRUPPt Arena against 1-9 in conference LSU, this was a shining example of their one and done defense...Point shaving anyone?!?

And here's the most thorough read on Hoiberg's ISU departure: http://www.amestrib.com/sports/men-s-basketball-inside-times-troubled-relationship-between-hoiberg-s-cyclones-and-isu

Yes!!! Very accomplished coaches that could do amazing things at IUBB like Hoiberg, Archie, Mack, and Marshall.
-
Good for Dakich for calling it exactly what it was!
-
It was Hoiberg's pinnacle when he inherited a terrible team at IOWA STATE, stayed a total of five years, and never had a team with star quality future-NBA level talent.
-
Well then, under that standard we will have a situation in which: We reach out to Stevens and Donovan annually, They say no annually, and We have Tom Crean as IU's basketball coach indefinitely.
-
Those two yellow bolded years from the chart are conference tournament championship years. In my opinion, you need to step back at little bit with candidate performance expectations. Coaches at major conference champion caliber teams that are regularly getting very far in the NCAAs are not looking to move! That's not a knock on IUBB; the Jay Wrights and Bill Selfs of the world are not looking to move anywhere.

Excellent job at Iowa State; getting to the Sweet Sixteen and winning 23+ games per season there is no small task, and is an upgrade from CTC's results. Iowa State Cyclones (Big 12 Conference) (2010–2015) 2010–11 Iowa State 16–16, 3–13 in conference 2011–12 Iowa State 23–11, 12–6 in conference, NCAA Round of 32 2012–13 Iowa State 23–12, 11–7 in conference, NCAA Round of 32 2013–14 Iowa State 28–8 11–7 in conference, NCAA Sweet Sixteen 2014–15 Iowa State 25–9, 12–6 in conference, NCAA Round of 64 Total at Iowa State:115–56 (.673) 49–39 in conference (.557) Pros: Great personality/face of a program. VERY likeable; Indiana high school coaches will be immediately enamored. Young, but not too young; still evolving and improving as a coach. Pro and major conference college head coaching experience. Very detail oriented. Fun, pro-style offensive system that high-end recruits will flock to. Fantastic, yet unblemished recruiter. And, unlike Self, Stevens, Donovan, Sean Miller, and others mentioned...will be available. Cons: Never had a team that has dominated defensively. Never been a big NCAA tournament success. Chart of Iowa State since 2000, with Hoiberg's 2010-2015 period far and away the most productive: Season Records Season Overall Conference 2001 25–6 13–3 2002 12–19 4–12 2003 17–14 5–11 2004 20–13 7–9 2005 19–12 9–7 2006 16–14 6–10 2007 15–16 6–10 2008 14–18 4–12 2009 15–17 4–12 2010 15–17 4–12 2011 16–16 3–13 2012 23–11 12–6 2013 23–12 11–7 2014 28–8 11–7 2015 25–9 12–6 2016 23–12 10–8 2017 14–8 6-4

Hoiberg, Marshall, Archie. I'm guessing that would be the most likely list (and in what order I do not know), if we truly are in search mode after this season.

Prediction League (Game 26 - Michigan 2/12/17)

We fight valiantly against a good Purdoodoo team, and then have a major letdown against Michigan. -
IU VS. PURDUE OFFICIAL GAME THREAD (7 PM ET ESPN2)

Screw 'em. Beat 'em. -
I'm in the camp that we have to either fire or extend. Executing neither of those options would surprise me the most. If we extend the fanbase is going to blow a gasket. While I'll understand why said gasket will be blown, as long as the extension is for "recruiting optics" only and doesn't affect our financial commitment to CTC, that'll be okay, I guess.
-
ALL of this, but that doesn't mean we will fire CTC.
-
I'm watching UK's five star-don't wanna be a college student kids play, and I kinda like next year's IUBB recruiting class. It's how we're gonna make use of them that worries me.
-
So. If you had to give this game a nickname/title? ;) http://www.bgsufalcons.com/boxscore.aspx?path=football&id=7751
-
We go for transition bucket: Good. If no transition bucket we go to wasting ten seconds without running an offense. BAD.
-
In any event, the empirical evidence and the eye test dispositively show that Tom Crean's Indiana teams are most lacking on the defensive end.;
