Offense, defense and turnovers were still the complaints. I remember giving people short vacations after that game due to trolling people. So as much as what you say it should be, it really wasn't. How many coaches would have hung a banner at IU now over the last couple of years we could have theoretically got? We aren't asking for a lot coming out of the Sampson mess... A couple deep tourney runs and a banner? Only Duke and UK have done what you ask since Crean came in. Basically by those standards no coach in America could live up to that would come to IU. Which brings me back to Stevens...

We all said the same about Crean but his mannerisms clashed with people. This is during the rebuild. People weren't talking about his coaching. He just isn't a Hoosier. Stevens is. I think that truly matters to quite a few people. Even when we are the number 1 team in the country. Number 1 offense. Most of the year top 25 defense people were quick to jump any time we lost. So before the Sweet 16 winning didn't matter. Some just don't like Crean. Which is fine. We need Stevens or we are going to be doing this again in 7 years.

You say that now but watch us get someone of lesser value. There is always something this fan base won't like. It's the nature of things. I will continually stand by Stevens is the only coach theoretically out there that could come to IU that would make us all happy.

I don't have faith in him but just because people don't have the same viewpoint as doesn't mean they will get this when they come here. I often ask myself how people can spew the same rhetorical hatred towards the man but it still happens.

Is an upgrade truly what would unite this fan base and put us back to where people believe is our rightful spot? I personally think this is the only option for IU to put us back up with Kansas, Duke, UK, and UNC. Let's not just make a change for the sake of making a change. Let's give Stevens Calipari or Coach K money which is far more than what he is making to make this move. A change is needed but we need a splash.
