  1. When your team blows balls there are only a few things left to do, stop watching and make money off of them. Predictable result
  2. Didn't like the hire to start but always hoped to be proven wrong. Glad Woody is getting paid in his twilight years. It's often said teams take on the personality of their coach and damn does it look like this team is taking a nice weekday siesta for long stretches of games. There are too many issues with this team and program to list here. I was hoping, at a minimum, Woody would be able to lay a foundation for the next coach to build on. What does that foundation look like? Coaching - trust, accountability, work ethic, successful game plans putting your players in a position to succeed individually and as a team Individual - trust, accountability, work ethic, fundamentals, intelligence, leadership Team - trust, accountability, chemistry, complementing pieces Summer after summer after summer we hear words and phrases like potential, improvement, and leadership while most seasons for decades we've been worse than the sum of the parts. You're not building a foundation or winning culture when you don't hold players accountable on and off the court. When you excuse your players being ejected, when you excuse your inability to construct a team, when you excuse god awful basketball and then back it up with "it's not an excuse but..."
  3. Rant Needing people to hype up a decision or a person. People aren’t stupid and the majority can see through the BS. If you hire someone and pay them a lot of money for their expert advice you don’t need to pay more money to consult just to hear the same advice on industry standards. Going behind them to attempt to gather consensus makes you look a fool and slows the maturity of your program while you’re attempting to save face. The same can be said for many things in life. You don’t need MSM or sports talking heads to tell you something is great when the evidence proves otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  4. I went out on top like Jordan the first time. I didn't think it was fair everyone else had to play for second every season. You're welcome
  5. Sucks to get taken out behind the woodshed but you might as well make money while you're there. That was easy money
  6. Good bounce back win at home. Played at the needed intensity level for longer stretches.
  7. Rant here - tl;dr It's difficult to influence change, develop/retain talent, and assemble a team that covers weaknesses and builds on strengths when you're an average leader When your organization is reluctant to change as the world around evolves it becomes a losing cause. When you're off chasing rainbows and unicorns instead of covering fundamentals to build a solid foundation you have a losing formula. When you don't hold those who you're responsible for accountable for the little things like being on time, treating others with respect, and quality of work you won't have a team that trusts each other or their leader. You will have talent with integrity and develops but will quickly see they need to leave for greener pastures and a massive pay raise. Life and work becomes so much easier when you surround yourself with good people and leaders.
  8. About what was expected with this team on the road at Rutger. There will be some chances at some home wins against most of the Big Ten
  9. Shot clock started on the tip instead of possession. If you watch it again you’ll notice they reset the shot clock to 29 from 26 I believe.
  10. Gritty win Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  11. Rant here Projection - it's amazing what you can see in others that you refuse to see or simply ignore in yourself. This is especially true for some "leaders" (managers/people in charge would be a more appropriate phrase). Too many follow the phrase "do as I say not as I do." Bonus rant Those who can't break 90 regularly after playing golf for years. *cough* @Josh *cough*
  12. Rant here Random limits - at 21 you’re legally allowed to drink but at 20 years, 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 58 seconds you can’t going 70 mph in a 70 is legal but going 71 is not earning a 84 will fail you on certain exams but an 85 is passing possessing a certain about of weed will get you arrested some places but just a bit less and you walk away Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  13. Another rant.. Going into someone else’s “space” to shove your contrarian thoughts down their throat. This world could probably use safe spaces for the safe spaces Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  14. Rant here: Go on the offensive, find out you might not be correct, stand your ground, attack anyone who disagrees, blame everything but what truly is the reason, stand your ground, play the victim. Rinse and repeat Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. We have nice players who have talent and like to win when it’s convenient. We have a coach who reps IU well and wants his players to rep the uni on/off the court. I’m really happy about this. What we don’t have are dogs, leaders, or pieces that fit together to play in a modern system. Glad the team isn’t making the wrong kind of headlines off the court sans XJ and Woody could be here to lead the program through these tough (?) times. Go Hoosiers! 16. Let’s get a high end starting quality SG and get this thing rolling. I like the pieces put together but think we might struggle through early noncon schedule while learning system and tendencies.
  17. Great get! Welcome to Hoosier Nation Mgbako!
  18. Glad we're staying on topic here Josh, I hope your newest employee knows as much about leadership as you do. I'm pretty excited to see what Cupps brings from a leadership perspective but hope we have the personnel that allow him to lead even as a freshman.
  19. I like how we suddenly have all this "information" about the recruitment of MM when it was said early on there would be minimal information coming out. It's almost like we forget what has happened in the very recent past. It'll be fun to hear how things "truly" went down after he announces.
  20. I believe you missed the perspective that was written from when attempting to explain what I was doing. I believe I have a fairly accurate assessment of where IU stands in the pecking order or college basketball recruiting and not surprised at the recruiting win and many losses we've had thus far in 2023 free agency.
  21. Not too difficult to track down CTA if you're following the knocked over trash cans
  22. A lot of this, it's almost like we're projecting onto the recruit. Odd
  23. This seems to happen often. The recruit is looking for x, y, and z. IU definitely ahead of the competition when it comes to x, y, and z but then we don't "win" that recruitment. I wonder why that is and if the people saying what the recruit is looking for and how the programs stack up are bias. Odd
  24. Let's get 4/8 more schools and then go Big 1.o East/West or Big 1.o old/new with 10/12 in each division. Play everyone in your division twice and other division once (or half) then one preseason tourney.
