It's possible he frustrates Pack. It's possible XJ picks up a quick second foul and sits for the majority of the first half because someone started showing him up. It's possible XJ gets a tech while running his mouth too. XJ would have been our best on ball defender but he wasn't immune to getting beat by his defender. When he was healthy we saw teams take advantage of our weak side defender shading more towards the lane and some of our slower defenders. Miami had a team fulls of guards/small wings with XJ speed and quickness that were hitting outside shots. Our defense most likely still gets caught in rotation with Kopp, Bates, Gallo, JHS, etc not being quick enough to close out to the shooter. There is evidence to that before XJ went down and I believe a few mentioned it early in the season.

Not to get too far into it but it all depends on your perspective. Some might try to justify 9/11 or ISIS or the majority of what either side does in the Middle East as just "a religious endeavor." Anyone can take offense to almost anything. We could use these opportunities to learn and celebrate differences but that would be difficult because we're told to feel threatened and should lash out by degrading the other side. Good times. I didn't realize they had changed the name either. I wonder if this is common among other schools with Crusaders as their mascot.

Who would have shot the FTs when XJ got a tech? Would XJ have been guarding Pack and/or Wong and/or any of their other guards when they were wide open from deep behind the line? Would XJ have been able to grab all of the rebounds that led to 5,529 second chance points for Miami? Yes, XJ would have helped in this game. We might have been able to keep it within single digits has XJ had an above average game. It amazes me players before eleventy times themselves when not available. We would have kept the game closer if Geronimo and/or Bates played half as well as many projected them over last off-season. Miami was the far better team in that game. Our "advantage" in that game failed to rebound after playing pretty solid first shot defense. Let's actually get better this off-season and do better in the regular and post seasons next year.

Would pack have been able to stop XJ? XJ probably grabs 15 of those rebounds and Miami would barely be able to score.

Glad he decided to secretly become the coach in waiting while continuing to be the head coach at FAU for a few more years. It'll give him a chance to make a few more runs and hone his craft before moving up to the big leagues in a few years.

I still hope we land both of them or at least 1/2 but will wait until it's officially announced. We love that insider scoop of information we want to hear and will find ways to cover when it's wrong. We do some things really well at IU - our "insiders" getting the fanatics pumped is one of them.

I like it, always keeping an out helps with that. Kind of reinforces the wait and see approach over getting pumped about the info you want to hear from insiders.

For those people to exist you need collaborators who follow along with them. When there is little risk in putting "things you've heard" out to the rest of the fan base why not go for it. You'll get plenty of the collaborators to jump back on the bandwagon when you get the next one right. It takes a village.

This is what I think too. If we really wanted him we get him. He's not good enough for IU and had to go to another team that didn't even make the tourney last season after finishing towards the bottom of the Big 1.o.

Don't have time to go back and look but there were several posts about 1-2 weeks out, next week, should be ready by X game, he should be ready, etc.

I'm not sure Gallo's ability to consistently get by 2s. If we could force a switch or if he gets an angle I like his chances. Everything is about %s both shooting and ability to get by and force rotation. I don't know how Banks or Ledlum would do on the perimeter with wings/smaller wings rather than 4s defending them. We'll see

XJ, hopefully Gallo and who else is dribble driving with that lineup? We'll need to make sure the lane instead clogged. I don't know the %s but not feeling we'd hit at a high enough or with enough volume to draw a team out. Hopefully we get the chance to see. I'd like to add Ware and Ledlum.
