  1. Results the last 20ish years seem to be similar to Knights too right?
  2. I want it to be true so I'll listen to inside sources when they tell me what I want to hear.
  3. JMo and OG both had great improvements but not sure it was on the same level as VO. Those two are of the mold I'd like to see us have for "big wings" in a modern offense.
  4. I like playing in these preseason events but this could be bad or great for SOS Texas and UConn should be good to great next season. Regardless it provides and opportunity for us to be on the national stage and rebuild our brand. Hoping we get UConn/Texas and they both have excellent seasons. With this event and Kansas we should get at least 2 good games. Is there another game with Arizona or was that a one off?
  5. It seemed like there were many players entering Cook Hall or already in Cook Hall every time I walked by there a few years back. I'm not surprised CTM has that program going in the right direction.
  6. There may or may not be... good to know. Sure it matters, it's a likelihood and environment scenario. You recruit a certain player with characteristics that improve their chances. You create an environment for development. This was my point about TJD developing differently in a different situation.
  7. I would agree on OG. There have been several who have steadily developed their game but few who have really made that massive jump. Steady improvement every offseason from the majority of your core group can take you a long way if you start with the right talent.
  8. When was the last IU player that made anywhere close to the same jump as Vic?
  9. XJ could be the best PG in the Big 1.o and the worst on consecutive plays. When he's at his best I don't think anyone in the conference is better than him. When he's not... It's definitely a win to have him back but being arguably the best player on the team has a range of possible outcomes.
  10. Well yeah, Race was an elite level shooter when he made a few in a row in one game. TJD was an elite level FT shooter when he had a game or two making a high %. I'm an elite level poster when I don't **** post. I would agree XJ has potential like few others currently on the team. He'll be going into his 5th or 6th year of college ball. You would think that elite level would have consistently shown by now. Similar to Troy Williams I believe there are factors non basketball related at play here that lead to the erratic play.
  11. Admittedly I didn't read through the rest of the comments around that time. I figured it panned out similarly to what we typically see here of "why are you so negative we have x, y, z" with several posters agreeing then a retort that flows the other way. One side claiming the other is too positive/negative until a poster tells another to get off the board to get fresh air/touch grass/doing something because they're freaking out. Rinse and repeat I believe we can all agree we had a superior roster of talent this past season than what is projected for next season that led us to a T2 in the Big 1.o and a first round W. Can the coming season be one where the sum of its parts is better than the individual talent? I don't think we've been there for many years.
  12. I hope that is the case. It's possible he tries to do too much (there's a history here) being the best or one of the best players on the team too.
  13. Ehhh, think it's a bit skewed and we overvalue that short stretch where we still only played ~.500 ball. He had some great games but he had a few games where he shot us out of it or almost shot us out of it.
  14. Would agree with being the most important player going into next season but if he's trying to do it alone we'll be in trouble. Hopefully he's taking a few younger guys under his wing and instilling a little fight in them. It's odd the ones building up the freaking out are the same as the ones claiming elite level PGs or something like that.
  15. I love me some XJ and think he brings intangibles we haven't had in awhile but it's been almost a 1:1 with great to wtf games. He has the potential to raise the team to another level but hasn't consistently shown that at IU. That's not elite to me.
  16. If we don't get certain guys in the portal we'll most likely be facing a difficult season - "freaking out" This is the perfect opportunity for Woody to bring in "his guys" and make it work. I guess he wasn't allowed to do that the past few off seasons because continuity or something. Get your guys, implement a system that wins, and go win something meaningful.
  17. What is your definition of elite level PG?
  18. Alabama had a couple of good stretches too
  19. Looking back over the season how many teams had a dominating stretch? UConn, Creighton, purdoodoo (figured they would pull a purdoodoo in the tourney) who else?
  20. Where? Half the posts on here are just **** posts thrown against the wall that is Btown Banners. (half is probably nowhere close to accurate)
  21. You should do them a favor and point them to the handbook that says July 3rd is freakout day but not April 3. There are other things at play that goes into the "big picture" that we'll need to improve on over the summer. I find it interesting we're supposedly going after some bigs and possibly looking at replacing players with like players in the portal. I do like some of the things Sparks can do but feel we need to revamp our offense. I'll mark my calendar for July 3rd.
  22. Why? Shouldn't we just let them freak out if they want to freak out? Although I don't see any of them taking this way too seriously. I believe several saw a possible slide coming without major portaling. Do any of them tell you that you should start freaking out?
  23. We snagged two highly rated recruits late in the game the last two offseasons after coaching changes to go along with JHS. They have been okay. We're missing a lot that I don't think a highly rated frosh can change. At this point, I'd be happy with a few transfers that work, gel, and display some leadership. We need to figure out our program culture.
  24. Previously I posted a breakdown of the Big 1.o over the past X years (believe it was since 2000) and we were at best the 6th best program program during that time. We've had to try hard to be as bad as we've been the last few decades. It's truly incredible we have a few Big 1.o regular season titles and a few Sweet 16s the past 2 decades.
