  1. I'm definitely grateful for JHS being a Hoosier and thought he had a fantastic freshman year. Checkout where JHS puts his uniform after games. I don't know the reason for it but found it a bit odd.
  2. Outside of optional letters I would agree with this. I believe the over helping is partly personnel issues in the inability for certain defenders to keep their man in front of them and certain defenders inability to help and recover. The rebounding is mostly technique which is concerning.
  3. That accounts for some of it but not all of it. I'm still not sure how we would have multiple players around the ball only to give up an offensive rebound to a single opponent. Maybe it's the old cliche "if everyone is responsible nobody is?"
  4. I fixed it for you.
  5. I made a post early in the conference season (?) while watching the Big 1.o on one screen and the SEC (?) on another and thinking I was watching two completely different sports. Why does the Big 1.o have decent to good levels of success in the noncon schedule? Continuity of teams is better in the Big 1.o than other conferences that results in being better earlier in the season. That is more than made up for later in the season when talent begins to jell and teams begin to form. Arkansas is a perfect example of that this season. They've gotten a little healthier but their talent has started to mature and play together.
  6. That's been the case with IU all season. It's been a tough pill to swallow when we were having this conversations throughout the season because you could see what would do us in. Add in the conversations about wing quickness and athleticism, rebounding, offense, and a ton of other things.
  7. I believe he has more ability to get into the lane than what he's shown in his freshman year. His game really isn't about blowing past his defender though.
  8. I would agree with this. Hopefully he leads the team throughout the spring, summer, and fall. If they take on his personality I'll be more confident going into next season.
  9. It's a convenient excuse to blame it on the previous coach. Winning big time college basketball is uber difficult. You have programs that figure it out and do what it takes to consistently be elite. We've taken another step in the right direction but this offseason is incredibly important for the direction of the program. We can continue to move forward or we can find excuses.
  10. We are in a completely different era of college basketball now then we were in 2007-08. We realize that right?
  11. I wish I could find the article that was written about athletic talent moving away from the Big 1.o footprint that would cause what we're seeing now. I believe it was published sometime between 2012-2014.
  12. How long are we going to do this? Who exactly are Archie players that Woodson couldn't have jettisoned and brought in his guys?
  13. Huge difference between the women's and men's program. It shouldn't take 4 years to build a winner with this college basketball landscape. There are several teams with first year head coaches that did well in their leagues and have moved on to the Sweet 16. It's an excuse and hinders the program.
  14. Leadership, attitude, culture, hating to lose, and on and on. These are the characteristics we need to recruit. I'm stoked players can get their stats. It's fantastic players are doing their thing in the NIL world. I'm happy we have likeable players. We need some dawgs!! XJ is probably the closest we have to a dawg. We need development! Gallo improved his shot from last season. He was a better player this season. That should be the baseline of what we see going forward. You get that when players hate losing. We need leaders who aren't afraid of pissing their teammates off and are dragging them into the gym to work until the season starts. I'm afraid we're still several season away from reaching a standard that's acceptable for the tradition of IU.
  15. The TV contracts, arenas packed with fans, getting 8+ teams in the tourney each season, having coaches who can only win the conference with this style, and such will not get the Big 1.o office to change anything. **Big 1.o isn't making money off sold out home arenas**
  16. Not the season many projected but could have been a lot worse. We did win a few more conference games in a down Big 1.o, made it back to the semifinal of the Big 1.o tourney, and won a game in the round of 64. Now we can get back to the season we always win, the offseason!! Happy to see some players have excellent individual seasons TJD will go down as one of the best, if not the best, stat stuffers who has ever laced them up for IU. Happy the players represented the university well and didn't get into any trouble. Thank you to those players for choosing to be Hoosiers. We have a major overhaul this offseason in order to bring our style into the modern era.
  17. Microcosm of our season. Try a little bit, make a little run, and then forget we have to defend too.
  18. TJD getting backed down and scored on by a little dude then Bates decides he's the go to player.
  19. If we can rebound first misses we still have plenty of time.
  20. Leadership, culture, and all that stuff. We're still trying to find it.
  21. For one they're actually watching the ball, we've been caught several times looking at something other than the ball. Goes for the back cuts in the first half too.
  22. They're offense is moving people and the ball. We're settling because it got a little difficult. We've given up almost 50% on the offensive boards. That's not winning basketball. We better make a run or the season and a few college careers will be over.
  23. Amazing how we come out with a little intensity and make a run then we start complaining to officials, our movement drops, we can't rebound, and on and on for them to get a little run. It's rather simple.
  24. This is how TJD has played for the majority of the time at IU, hence my leadership comments for the majority of this season. If he brings it the entire second half we have a chance.
