There are no elite teams in CBB this year?

Recommended Posts

I disagree, how is IU right now not cosidered elite? Kentucky was considered the elite team of college basketball last year, so lets compare...

Kentucky lost 2 games last year.  A road game at IU by 1 and a neutral court game vs Vanderbilt by 7.  UK beat one ranked team last year during conference play last year because the conference stinks. Yes, they beat them 3 times, but still the rest of the conference was not very good.

Indiana has lost 3 games this year. A road game at Illinois they were winning for 35mins. A neutral court game vs Butler that IU was in control of for 38mins and a home game vs Wisky.  IU lost 2 games by buzzer beaters.  Is there many differences in this? I say no.

Kentucky had 3 wins vs ranked teams during non conf schedule (UNC, Kansas, UofL) all at home. They had 2 wins vs ranked teams during conference play. Both Florida.

Indiana has 1 win vs 25 teams during non conference play at the time but 2 more that are currently in the top 25 (Butler, GTown). IU has 5 wins vs ranked opponents during conference play, 2 on the road as of now.

Now, that's the team comparison, what about the players?

UK Starters/Team   Teague   Lamb   Kidd-Gilchrist   Jones      Davis     6th Miller       Coaching/Calipari

IU Starters/Team    Ferrell     Hulls    Oladipo            Watford    Zeller    6th Sheehey  Coaching/Crean

I'd Take                   Ferrell     Lamb   Oladipo           Watford    Push      Push              Push

These are not just my picks, I included some of my buddies(UK & UL fans) picks from last night at work.  According to this, IU would win in 3 of the categories, lost in 1 category and pushed in 3.

I absolutely love how IU is not only winning on the road against ranked teams, they have been in charge for the most part against OSU and MSU.

IMO, we are playing like an ELITE team.

Agree? Disagree?

The reason the media says there is no elite team is because in looking at the results from last year, most of UK's wins came by a good margin, where as the Hoosiers gut out wins. However, I love proving people wrong, especially when one of the ESPN headlines at halftime was "Miami poised to take over #1"

Ready for Miami to go down in flames... I dont see how the ACC gets two #1 seeds. I predict that the B1G gets two #1 seeds, IU & MSU and two #2 seeds, Michigan and Wisconsin. I see OSU in free fall mode, they will be lucky to get a 5 seed as of this point. That being said, I think OSU could beat Miami. No way the ACC deserves two #1 seeds.

Indiana is the ELITE team this year. It's Indiana's National Championship to lose IMO. Game in and Game out, the Hoosiers are playing solid basketball. WIth exception to the Wisconsin game (I want them again in the BTT) Indiana has played at a high level all season. The best thing about this team is they rise to the occasion. They have lost the feeling of panic when they go down a couple points.

Against MSU is the best example... Down 4 with 1:30 to play and they pull out the victory. THat wouldn't have happened last year. An ELITE team pulls that win out, and Indiana did just that. It's time to crown the B1G Champs, B1G POY, National Player of the Year, 2 First Team All-Americans and start the MArch to hang Banner 6!
