Jeremy Hollowell Status Update

Recommended Posts

Jeremy Hollowell will play Monday afternoon vs Iowa.  Hollowell sat out the previous three games for a self reported secondary violation.  As BtownBanners first reported, the issue related to a possible family relationship with an agent.  According to Peegs.com's @jeffrabjohnss, Jeremy will suit up for the Hoosiers.

Jeremy is currently averaging 13.3 minutes, 5.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest.

Update:

Statement from Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass:

"Earlier today we were advised by the NCAA that they have accepted our self-reported secondary violation involving Jeremy Hollowell and, consistent with our proposal, immediately reinstated his eligibility. He will travel with the rest of the team to Iowa and be eligible to play in that game and all other games going forward. I would like to thank the NCAA for its assistance and responsiveness, especially during this holiday season when their office is officially closed. I also thank Jeremy Hollowell and his mother Chandra Lockett who raised this issue and have continued to be forthright and forthcoming throughout this matter. Finally, I thank our athletic department and men's basketball staff who worked diligently and professionally to help bring this to a positive conclusion. I am proud of how Indiana University has handled this situation. We will release the details of this matter later this week. Until then we will have no further comment."

Great to see this is resolved for Jeremy's sake. Now he can focus on his developing his game and hopefully contributing for the Hoosiers. Will be good for Crean to have all his players available and finally able to utilize the incredible depth this team has. Continued development of all of the freshman will be a big factor in how good this team becomes.

What is the status on Peter Jurkins? Are we going to redshirt him?

Here is the problem with the suspensions: had both Hanner and Peter been able to play,

1) Hanner would be much more versed around the basket than he is now and would be able to finish better

2) we would all feel more confident in Peter stepping into a 2nd string center position, where he could come on for Cody and at least be able to lock down the paint

Well said Will! Couldn't agree more.
