Student Ticket loyalty program

Recommended Posts

As a junior at IU, I have been a student season ticket holder all three years for both football and basketball.  I don't miss basketball games and attend most football games.  The rest of my group has the same situation.  Given the new loyalty program for IU student tickets, we should have been in pretty good shape this year as far as getting some good game tickets.  In the past, we've been screwed on this.  Last season, both of our General Admission games were non-conference, non-competitive games (i.e. Coppin State) and the year before that wasn't much better.  This year, our one general admission game was again wasted on a non-competitive blowout versus some cupcake.  We did not receive tickets to the Michigan game at all, are seated in the upper balcony (opposite side of students) for the Purdue game, and have a mediocre games and seats to fill out the rest of our season tickets.  Our best ticket was behind the basket for the UNC game earlier this year (an amazing experience) but we were seated directly next to a group who had purchased student tickets for the first time.  I also know a group that had general admission for this game despite, again, never having bought season tickets before.  Our only great seats this season didn't even seem like a loyalty reward considering these first time groups also had them for the same game.  I hate to complain, but I honestly don't see how the loyalty program has benefited me this year anymore than other groups who have just now jumped on the season ticket bandwagon.  My reason for starting this post is to ask if anyone else has had similar issues with the ticket office this year or over the course of several years.  Has anyone else had this problem?

We're hoping they didn't fully institute that program this year.  If they did, then it was a failure.  Season tickets for Football and Basketball every year should get you better seat than you guys got for those games.  Wish you luck!

One of my co-hosts on my radio show who is a senior got the same package I did: GA for the exhibition, behind the basket for UNC, balcony for PU, and no Mich. He wrote the office and they gladly had him come in a talk to them about his questions. What he was told was that due to the influx in people wanting tickets and the only getting 10 games, they had to rank the games in order to give people a balanced set. They put UNC first, with Mich and PU close behind. That being said, they gave a lot of seniors and juniors the package I have with some differences. On the flip side, they had to extend a helping hand to those purchasing tickets for the first time along with freshman to ensure that they would buy tickets again, so that's where those people getting those tickets comes into play.

Great insight Will, thanks for posting that. I'm sure it will make many others feel better about their tickets.

To my understanding - correct me if I'm wrong, but the articles I've read said the system started this year, and I was under the impression prior seasons would not count. I'm a sophomore, but had season tickets as a freshman for both and attended EVERY game, as I am doing and will continute to do this season after break. I was told five points are awarded for season ticket holders for football and 5 for basketball, that's how you tak up points and they can track if you go when they scan your ticket into the game - or not. Hope this helps.
