He should be the boss, but he has not been that on the bball side yet. -

Yea. We lost our blue blood status at this point. Replaced by UConn. -

I’m sure the whole B1G loves Woody at IU. -

Declaring everyone is emotional usually doesn’t calm things. She offers no useful info — oh Woody won’t be fired midseason and if the season goes bad he probably does? Stop the presses! In the end she/he is a troll. -

State College is pretty bad, tiny town in the middle of nowhere. I admit they are a big program.

Yea, his raise puts him in the top-10 in the country. We just made the playoff and he's interviewing? Come on.

I was hoping our new large staff budget would prevent this. He is making about $1.9M here. But we'll see what happens.

Ha, trying to get in an argument over who is a bigger fan, as if that matters with respect to who is right about what should be done with IUBB. Kathy is unraveling again. -

You have no understanding of what it takes to run a successful basketball program or really any sort of organization. IU doesn't either, though I am hoping Scott is the exception. -

Ah yes, expectations and the fan base are the problem. Yet many other basketball schools succeed, they have expectations and engaged fans too. Same with football schools and their football programs -- many of those fan bases are far wilder than IU's. Maybe we just need to hire a good coach. -

No. He put his unqualified friend ahead of the program. It’s pretty clear what he cares about. -

I don't know who, but it's clear some people in the program have started an anti-fanbase sentiment that has spread quite a bit the past year and half. We see it with Kathy, but also Woody (true fans), some of the players (y'all need to chill), Tyme, SDB, and a few other posters with some program connection on various boards Interestingly, as you note, the fans are one of the best things IUBB still has going for it... that and NIL. IUBB has been a mess for a long time, but this is a new low. This program is so incapable of taking responsibility they'll even point fingers at the fans... the fans that are somehow, after 25 years of terrible basketball, still caring, donating, and cheering for any sort of reasonable effort. -

Looking at some of your old quotes, they're your guys. "You think most of those people [previous ADs] know more about basketball than Quinn? Uh, no. Not even close. Most of them hadn’t even been ADs before we hired them." "Crean was no better than Woodson as a coach and he squandered far more talented teams than MW has been able to assemble." "Woodson was as ready as Miller, if not more so." -

This is how I see it too. I would love a McCollum or someone like that, just have to hope Scott can parse out who won’t translate to IU like Archie. It’s hard for us as a fans to tell, we aren’t in the interviews with these guys. -

Fwiw his buyout is set and negotiated in his contract — he gets his whole remaining contract paid out $1M/yr. Remaining contract is about $8.4M at the end of this season. That said, they could agree to a smaller amount paid out sooner. Regardless, IU knows what they owe Woody. -

I don’t know for sure, but I love the idea of a very good modern X’s and O’s coach plugged into our NIL. -

Tbh I don't know why he would leave. Top-5 team, pretty darn good NIL, they have a nice thing going with the fans there, and he's got a lot of autonomy like you said. I don't think he's a fit. I'd prefer a younger guy like McCollum, but I don't know, I've got to trust Scott to figure it out in the interviews. -

Fwiw that's how I feel too. I really don't need each article about our new coach hire including a section on DV allegations. Maybe it's unfair to Beard, but the fact of the matter is that will happen. I don't want anyone else picking the coach except Scott, but this is something Pam and the BoT should have some input on, they are responsible for considering reputation/headline risk for the university. I've heard there are more issues with Beard beyond the public DV ones. There are many good coaches out there, we just don't need to take on all these issues he brings.
