I'm a traditional unis type of guy and I love that Cig didn't mess with the standard IU football uniforms (with the caveat that the block "I" is truly the tradition in football I suppose). Still, DD messing around with black unis is a distraction from the traditional power that "was" Indiana basketball during the glory years. I see it similar to the IU Oval in football during the Antwaan days. Also, reminds me of Nebraska wearing the black unis and getting it handed to them by Tom Allen's Hoosiers in their own stadium. Stick to tradition and leave the ugly black to the Toiletmakers.

That's because IU just hits harder and "It Just Means More". Bwaahaaaaaa

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
iu2win replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Spent a short time reading some comments on the Miami U forum. Seeing all of the typical comments Hoosier fans have been reading from the arrogant "blue blood" programs: OSU, Alabama, and now Miami. I've copied a few of my favorites and you will notice they resemble what IU fans have heard all season long. (My favorite is the last one; "Mendoza is a one-read guy; rarely has to go through his progressions", hahaha, no clue.) Here's believing the results of the game match those of all the other arrogant posters who thought their team was going to be "the one" unlike any IU has played before. Indiana only plays 13 players on defense. Wear them out. We play a similar style game to Indiana but we just have better athletes. They're bullying Oregon on both LOS, they won't be able to do that to us. They have not played trenches like ours. I was really nervous for our last three games but im not nervous at all about Indiana. I think we handle them easily The Ole Miss O is superior to Indiana's. Mendoza rarely has to go through progressions, it's not even a thing in the IU system. He's a one read guy. -
Anyone else notice how effortlessly these tv pundits throw out transverse ideas; particularly regarding IU. Today, I heard two different guys from different affiliates state unequivocally that Miami has a better DL than IU and better DB's. How can these guys possibly watch that conference championship game and make that statement? Who has Miami played (outside of the one game against A&M) that in any way proves what these fools are saying. Good News, they just keep finding ways to doubt IU and I firmly believe IU will prove them all wrong.

I respectfully disagree. IU is 13-0, beat the team that was ranked #1, has the Heisman winning QB, the repeating Coach of the Year, and a very under rated defense. IU has accomplished so much this year that a loss in the Rose Bowl cannot wash away. I think IU can play loose and let 'er fly against bambam. I'm not predicting the score but I do believe IU will win the game.

Heismendoza - 2025 HEISMAN WINNER
iu2win replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I'm generally very understanding when a young college student makes an impulsive statement. However, what makes the Pavia situation so much different than days past . . . he is making tons of money to play college football. Not saying the players shouldn't be paid; of course, they should since universities make a fortune off their sport. However, if college athletes expect to get paid they must realize they are now being held to a higher standard; including the manner in which they represent their universities. So glad Fernando represents IU with dignity and class. Everyone, including Pavia, deserves a second chance but that doesn't mean he should be exempt from consequence and my guess is his consequence will show up on draft day. -

From this day forward anyone asking about the top players from IU's 2026-2026 football team will hear me rattle off Mendoza and Fisher first among many others. The leader of the O and the leader of the D; both excelled at making certain everyone on their side of the ball was in position and ready to make the play(s) asked of them.

It sucks that Daley is out. However, all the talking heads doubting IU's bench just provides IU one more way to prove the doubters wrong. Landino can move over into Daley's spot and IU is much stronger on the inside DL with a couple of really good players to step in. IU should not have any trouble dispatching either Alabama or Oklahoma IF Cig has the team in the right mindset and ready to go . . . there is no doubt that will happen this season. I'll take iu2win The Rose Bowl !!!

I tend to dislike most things ND related. However, I believe Alabama should have been the team left out of the CFB and BOTH Miami and ND should have been in. I think of it this way . . . remove the logos and names off all three helmets (ND, Miami, and Alabama) then replace those names with IU. I don't think IU gets in with any of those records: certainly not with three losses, certainly not beating any team currently in the field, and not with two horrible losses. They can say what they want but history and brand name still carry a ton of weight in this thing and that's why I was stunned ND was left out.

I think it comes down to Kalen's mindset regarding these entitled schools/fan bases. For example, Ryan Day was an idiot and OSU fans were calling for his head after the loss to Michigan last season. Then, OSU won the natty and suddenly he was a genius again. I read posts within discussions leading up to the conference championship where OSU fans were demeaning Cig and claiming Ryan Day as the best college football coach in the nation. Then, IU wins and Ryan Day is an idiot again for not calling run plays on 3rd and 1, and subsequent 4th and 1 before the missed kick. Now, that is not to say Kalen wouldn't face the same thing at Michigan but I do think the fans up there are a bit more inclined to give their coaches two to three years to really get it going.

The Daley jump I will always remember is the one he used to tip a pass (resulting in an IU interception) to seal the deal at Oregon. Get well big fella and Go Hoosiers !

This entire season I've been at the mercy of the longsuffering IU Football fan PTSD; fearing the Hawkeyes were going to grind out the W. Then, Autzen stadium and their 18-game home winning streak; until Daley tipped the pass and IU came away with the pick (still, thought it was possible to piss it away). Do I even need to mention the game at Penn St.? Lastly, going into the B1G Championship I was all set to be satisfied with IU keeping the score close. I'm CURED !!! Coach Cig, this IU team, and THAT GAME have convinced me the IU football program has turned a corner that I would otherwise have thought impossible. I'm adopting the mindset of the Hoosiers; bring on the best!!! These Hoosiers are the undefeated Big Ten Champions and anything that happens from this point forward is icing on that championship cake. I plan to enjoy every IU game moving forward minus any thoughts of "what if"; instead, it's now "what, when" because I'm thinking, "What will be my drink of choice When I celebrate" IU winning The National Championship.

Also, are the refs not supposed to run over and stand in front of the ball to allow subs to happen? If that is the case, it was not on IU to wait when there was no ref present; so QB calls for the snap and then the refs realize they messed up.

Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!

I realize some of their frustration regarding Cig's (shorthanded) comment; given they have played so many games without their starting QB. However, I'm more surprised so many of their fans are now throwing the entire "interim" coaching staff under the bus. Penn State played a terrific game and IU had a terrific (and some could reasonably argue . . . "lucky") comeback at the end. I say lucky because those two tipped passes (on 1st and 2nd down from the 7 yd line) could easily have been picked which would have ended the game. Nevertheless, Heismendoza and the Hoosiers pulled through to capture victory from the jaws of defeat. Becker was amazing and Cooper's catch at the end . . . I will remember in a way similar to The Wat Shot . . . minus IU not being the underdog as Coach Crean's team was in 2011 against UK. -
This ^^^^ . I am continually laughing at the usual SEC pundits who keep pumping up the large number of wins against "ranked conference" opponents; frequently listing TENN among them. Do they not realize TENN has yet to beat a team with a winning conference record? E. Tenn St. (2-3), Syr (1-5), UAB (1-3), Miss St. (1-4), Ark (0-5), and UK (1-5). WOW, too bad IU didn't whoop up on TENN this season so they could have another high quality win. Sure, TENN has played GA, ALA, and OK but they have not managed a win over any of them and therefore should not be considered a "quality" win for any of those teams. TENN = Rutgers this season.

Witnessing what Cig and Co were able to achieve with Rourke, I think IU will thrive with Alberto at QB. He has the talent to hone his ability to see the field like Rourke with much greater mobility; keeping the D honest and opening things up down field. If Rourke had not been injured (and had a better rep as a runner) I don't think Michigan, OSU, or ND would have been able to attack the QB with the same level of success. Well, that and an upgrade at OL. -
Knee jerk reaction to the second article listed is the danger of tying it to tuition. Is my thinking to shallow or wouldn't this simply incentivize universities to increase tuition in order to increase what they can pay their coach??? Are they also going to cap tuition or is that already a thing???

In a recent interview I recall Cig saying something along the lines of: "The last few calls I've questioned have gone for big gains". Having said that, the fact Cig admits questioning the calls is somewhat telling I suppose.

So, I'm boarding the plane (in Tampa) to fly up for the UCLA game, fully decked out in IU gear. The old guy scanning boarding passes looks at me and says, "I got nothing against Indiana but your coach is a stick in the mud". I looked him dead in the eye and said, "He wins . . . google him". I haven't experienced that type comments from total strangers since Bob Knight was coaching at IU; I'll take that as a great sign of things to come.
