IU in the underdog role is perfect. However, the results AT the shoe and South Bend last season are cause for concern. IF Oregon's ranking is legit it could be a long afternoon/evening for the Hoosiers. Then again, if the ranking is inflated (see PSU's loss to previously winless UCLA and O's needing OT to beat the nits on lions) things could get very interesting in Autzen. I doubt Oregon's OL is better than Iowa's but their DL is likely the best IU has faced all season. IU's OL must find a way to give Mendoza some time in the pocket and/or open up some holes to get chunk yards in the running game. If both can happen . . . Go Hoosiers !!!

Hoosier grad/fan since the 70's and it is unreal we are posting about IU football in the top ten . . . IU FOOTBALL Top Ten. It is so unbelievable and so much fun. Go Hoosier, Pluck the Ducks !!!

Finebaum met his term "SEC" limit years ago.

Looking forward to the cat and mouse (with regard to last second substitutions by Coach Baby Beluga); he used that strategy continuously against Duke. At one point the official didn't move away from the center until there was only 4 seconds remaining. That rule needs to be revisited. Something tells me Cig will have a plan for it.

Soon there will be a plane flying over the UCLA stadium with a banner calling for the coach to be fired . . . Groundhog Day !!!

Similar to Coach Tom Allen, I believe Coach Deboer to be excellent at his particular coaching niche (Offensive Coordinator) and perhaps less adept at the Head Coach position. This is why I believe he and Allen together were successful at IU; Allen had the D covered and Deboer was fantastic at play calling; together they were very successful (by IU standards). Penix was the difference for Deboer at Wash.

Transfer Portal w IU Interest

You are so right Artie. It is so unresponsible to give 18-21 year olds access to millions of dollars. There is rightfully a lot of focus on small schools not being able to compete with the big boys but little focus on what this can/will do to the youngsters. What about those that get a million NIL and then do not make the pros; easy for us older folk to believe how we could be set for a long time on a million dollars but I'm guessing someone 18-21 would go through it like water through a sieve. -

No, obviously CAREER numbers . . . not NBA alone. Nevertheless, you clearly set me straight . . . kudos! -

Sam Alexis to Indiana from Florida

Right. If the outside shooting pans out anything near what the numbers indicate IU will need only a solid 5 who can rebound, move the ball, and do the intangibles. Daryl Thomas, Dean Garrett, or even a Noah Vonleh or Jared Odle type production will suffice if the scoring comes from anywhere else. Go Hoosiers !!! -

"Wings that do not stand on the perimeter waiting for a catch and shoot opportunity." Exactly why MM said a return to IU was never going to happen. Purposeful movement without the ball; a quality each of the teams in the final four this season had that IU (as a team) has been missing for years. -

I've never been to Austin but downtown L'ville is terrible compared to Bloomington. L'ville has gotten better over the past ten years but still a depressed city compared to others in similar size (Cincinnati for example). -

I realize a total rebuild for IU is going to require fans with patience and reasonable expectations. Still, the anxiety of having no confirmed assistant coaches and/or players is incredible. Please . . . give us something . . . anything. LOL -

Held off on posting again to take this all in. The press conference and Darian’s interview on the Big Ten Network sold me. When he said he and Scott agreed “throughout the entire process” that the focus had to remain on his current team (WV) indicated to me that Scott was working to land Darian long before the selection show; not a knee jerk or last minute decision as some nay sayers would like us to believe. Scott got his guy and I trust him. This board has been very entertaining throughout and helped pass the time as we all waited to find out who the new coach would be. Let’s all get behind our new coach and the team he assembles. As always I am always for IU2WIN !!!

No connections or inside information here but there are two things I know for fact: 1) During the last IU coaching search, Brad Stevens, in person, made the "Masshole" comment making it crystal clear he was not going to coach at IU. 2) This time around (through a member of the media, Goodman) Brad sent word that he is "happy in Boston". Comparing the two, there could be many interpretations of the comment Goodman reported during this search.

We're hiring Ricky Henderson??? Best left fielder of all time.

I remember she made a fool of herself during a nationally televised tournament game one year; people in attendance were convinced she was very inebriated too.

Years ago I thought Gregg Marshall had the fire and spirit (similar to Coach Knight) IU needed to get back to national relevance . . . and then . . . whew, glad IU didn't get caught up in that mess.

I'm certainly not vehemently opposed to Mccollum. For those of you really pushing him, can you tell me why you see his success at Drake differently from Archie's success at Dayton. I see similarities that are my only concern with going that route again.
