  1. Yet, every year there is an event at Huber Winery, which according to the map is surrounded by a bunch of podunk towns that we've never drawn recruits from, and Louisville which we don't recruit from.
  2. It’s not for whatever reason, and that’s my point. It’s because they don’t put any effort into the area. Painter does. Painter is visible. When Furst’s coach at Blackhawk coached his last game due to cancer, Painter was there. He’s been to multiple events in FW over multiple years. I can’t remember the last time an IU coach made an appearance here.
  3. Deshaun Thomas to OSU Malik Williams to Louisville Nic Moore from Warsaw to SMU Essegian Charlie Wills Chris Kramer, Grady Eifert, Raphael Davis, Loyer, Furst, Swanigan all to Purdue...others going back a ways. Not all Dwenger kids go to ND if offered. Most recent being Joe Tippman who was drafted last year by the Jets and went to Wisconsin. Jessie Bates is another prime example of a football kid who was ignored by IU
  4. The gala is not the point. There is never a presence up in this neck of the woods for any events. The FW Alumni Club used to have a golf outing that some coaches would attend, but never from the MBB or Football programs. Knight used to golf the Mad Anthony's charity golf event, but that was 20 years ago. No effort in trying to nurture relationships here. Meanwhile things like the winery event happen every year. Shame that the program puts little value on the talent that comes from the area. Enough high Div 1 talent here to make it worth at least trying.
  5. Meanwhile, Painter appeared at the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club annual gala. No IU presence at all. Interviewed by local media and commented on the development of Loyer and Furst. Is it any wonder why IU has little success recruiting guys from this area?
  6. Wonder if he would go to a place where his dad is revered?
  7. Hatton has nowhere near the upside of our recent bigs, but if there is one thing this staff has shown the last 3 years, it's that they know how to improve a big guy's attributes. I would expect Hatton to show some improvement if he comes to IU, under the tutelage of this coaching staff.
  8. My leaving Hoosier Sports Nation Made some good friends there
  9. I think Cody just put his head down and tried to bull through the middle of the zone again
  10. I can’t believe that professional contracts don’t have a stipulation that guys can’t play in events like this. Teams paying out millions should be smart enough to nix exposing players to senseless injury
  11. So, the off season has devolved from tearing apart the coaching staff to tearing apart a guy who has shown nothing but loyalty to the program
  12. Maybe Crean could have hired someone to help him figure out a zone defense.
  13. Muir Woods was the highlight for me.
  14. To me, Tucker sounds like a more athletic, not quite as strong version of JHS.
  15. SIAP...committed to Tennessee
  16. Understand your hesitancy, but with an injury requiring microfracture surgery ( and I had that surgery) at this stage of his recovery, 90% is mental. Having confidence that your leg is going to hold up to the stress of playing. If in his head he's 100%, that's going to make him play much more instinctively than if he has doubts that hold him back
  17. Juwan Howard hires on as an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets
  18. I agree that RMK had built the cache to warrant folks overlooking his abrasiveness, and Woodson has yet to do so. Also agree that at the time, Woodson’s Senior Night comments came across wrong. However, those comments were made 6 weeks ago, and it’s time to let them go. No one was personally hurt by his words, but it sure seems like some folks are hanging onto them as if they were.
  19. If the staff is making a big push for this guy, they must know that Mason is announcing for somewhere else tomorrow
  20. My opinion only - Woodson did not win with “Archie’s players.” Several of the players, especially TJD and Race, were headed elsewhere. Woodson had to re-recruit those guys and sell them on what he could do to advance their games. At the point they agreed to come back, they became Woodson’s players. - The whole “real fans” and “chill” comments have been overblown by some butthurt folks just looking for a reason to be butthurt. My gosh, grow a pair. RMK was much more condescending at times with some of his comments and actions towards fans he felt weren’t as knowledgeable or weren’t buying in. Time to let it go. - This year is make or break for Woodson. Expectations should be high. However quantifying what that means in regards to records, seeding, tournament results, is a guessing game now. 8-10 games into the season should provide a much better indication of whether Woodson has this team on track for where we all want them to go. - This is the fire Woodson thread, and I respect the opinions of those who want him gone. I am willing to see what this season brings before deciding either way
  21. Awesome job by the staff. It was mentioned earlier that Archie should have recruited Goode all along. Pet peeve for me in that IU has consistently ignored the northern part of the state. Lots of good basketball up here and rarely is IU seriously involved with high level recruits. Common knowledge that Archie assumed Furst was IU bound and stopped recruiting him. Painter, who is active and visible here came in and swept him up. Maybe Luke’s commitment will be the first step in changing this, but I remain skeptical

  23. Ft. Wayne media states that Malone will make his decision on Monday
  24. Guess this is travel related. Spending three weeks at our cabin in Western N. Carolina. Went for breakfast this morning. One of the specials was catfish and grits. Who in the hell would eat that at 8:30 in the morning?
