  1. How would we feel about this portal haul: -Amari Williams -Hickman or Humrichous -2/3 of Perkins, Carlyle, Rice Could sign Blazi as well and that put you at 12 scholarships with 1 remaining.
  2. Jordan Pope Oregon St officially in the portal. Wasn’t he one of the names thrown out during the season that we might be connected too? Seems almost forgotten at this point.
  3. Malik as a 5 offensively would wreak havoc on the B10. He’s almost automatic in single coverage 5 feet from the rim.
  4. It’s the first and only school he’s visited thus far, I wouldn’t put too much stock into On3 portal projections.
  5. Really weird landing spot for him with Bailey and Harper coming in.
  6. Well yeah we had a national player of the year candidate and a first round draft pick at guard.
  7. Neither Reneau or MM guarded the perimeter against Miami.
  8. Beat me to the post. I posted his intention to transfer a few weeks ago and thought he'd be an intriguing piece for somebody. I think he plays a lot like Luke Goode, have to wonder if he's going to put his name in the portal? The amount of times Kevin Harlan mentioned Luke Goode and his uncle Trent Green (who Harlan calls football games with) from Indiana makes you wonder if he knows something....
  9. Reneau isn't a traditional PF. He played with Ware this last season to maximize on-court talent. Our back court was atrocious last year with very little depth. Get better and deeper at the guard and wing positions and it becomes a non-issue in my opinion.
  10. Too many people getting wrapped up in starting lineups and what not. Minute allocation and rotations, especially end of game, tell a far more significant story. I could see someone like Bryson Tucker "starting" over Trey Galloway but Trey playing significantly more minutes. If someone like Huntley-Hatfield committed, I think there's a world where both he and Reneau start the game together but don't end up playing a ton of minutes together simultaneously.
  11. Iowa's NIL is shot in men's basketball. I've heard from a little birdie that Fran is encouraging older plays with a year of eligibility to get out of Dodge while they can. The sh*t Fran and his players get from that fan base is crazy.
  12. That's why I think it's less and less likely he comes here. Realistically to compete in the top half or third of the B10 next year IU needs: A starting PG (Perkins) $300k A scoring 2 guard (Conwell, Blackmon, insert 50-60 other names who will enter the portal) ~$550k A defensive 5 who can play 20-25 mpg whether he starts or comes off the bench (Huntley-Hatfield) $400-500k A shooter off the bench (Hickman or Humrichous) $200-300k That would complete your rotation and leave you with 11 scholarships filled. Would allow you to sign someone like Diamant Blazi. From there you would have a million potential lineups and rotations.
  13. I think those numbers are highly inflated. If I had to guess coming these are the figures I see coming directly from collectives: Leal--$150-200k Galloway---$200-300k Cupps---$100-150k Newton---$100k Reneau----$500-600k Mgbako----$500-600k Tucker---$500-600k I don't think Tucker was in as high of demand as many think. He was G-League bound until 2 weeks ago Iowa boards are reporting that Perkins is looking for something in the neighborhood of $300k and guys like Walker, Hickman, Blackmon, etc aren't going to command anywhere close to half a million. There's only a handful of portal players that are going to sniff high 6 figures to a million plus. I would pu IU's current allotment closer to $2million than $3million with more than half to spend.
  14. Realize the need for home runs. But you're down 4 runs in the 9th inning. Swinging for the fences does you no good. You need base runners. And then you can swing for the fences.
  15. Take it however you will. Perkins had the best defensive win share on that team.
  16. Would completely disagree. Lack of volume over percentage is a much bigger concern. If you’re going to continue to play the same system, your PG can’t turn the ball over the way IU’s have under Woodson.
  17. Put X in Iowa’s lineup with their tempo his raw turnover numbers would skyrocket given his potency to turn the ball over as suggested by his TO%.
  18. If Cupps was a 40% 3 point shooter last year (instead of 36%) it would have meant he made 16 3 pointers over the course of the season instead of 14, assuming volume stayed the same. So to answer your question: No.
  19. Not even remotely comparable to X when you dive deeper into the numbers. X TO% was more than double Perkins.
  20. Cupps averaged the same amount of turnovers a game as he did made field goals and assists. That’s no bueno.
  21. It’s been elite. And a huge reason is because Jordan Bohannon and Tony Perkins had elite TO rates spanning the last 5-6 seasons. When you have a PG who can run your stuff without turning the ball over, it typically makes for a much more efficient offense. Not really a novel concept. Do I think Tony Perkins averages 15 a game here next year? Probably not. Doesn’t need to either. But 11-12 ppg seems appropriate along with a good A/TO ratio.
  22. That’s not how it works lol. Cupps and XJ’s TO rate last season were 22 and 24 percent respectively. That’s terrible. Throw in Galloway at 18% who handled the ball a lot and it’s a major reason why IU’s offensive efficiency was so bad. Perkins TO rate for both his Jr and Sr seasons was 12% which is beyond elite. It’s a huge reason why Iowa finished 4th and 15th in offensive efficiency per KenPom with Perkins as its starting PG.
  23. A steady floor general who doesn’t turn the ball over is the perfect start….
  24. Which even furthers the need for a PG who is a strong on-ball defender. Perkins was a plus defender on a bad defensive team. Guys like Malik Mack and Leland Walker were bad defenders in bad conferences. Perkins had excellent TO rate which is essential playing in Woodson’s system.
  25. Perkins has better “stats” than Walker playing in a much tougher conference.
