  1. But come to think of it, if that is the route IU does indeed go, both your 1 and 2 guards need to be high volume/high make 3 point shooters or you run the risk of teams packing the lane again all year. If you want to play like Purdue you need to have shooters like Purdue. Blackmon fits that bill.
  2. Can’t risk losing money AND my mind lol
  3. We’re doing it wrong if that is the plan. Galloway should NEVER be the lead guard in any offense ever. Transfer PG Transfer 2 G (Blackmon) Galloway MM Reneau And if we’re dead set on playing two 5’s next year and playing MM on the wing then there’s no way you can start Galloway.
  4. No 2 guard should be taking only 6 shots a game at any level of basketball.
  5. yes he’s not likely to replicate what he did at Stetson at the P5 level on the same volume. Still think he can be an efficient 3 point shooter on volume. Something IU hasn’t had since his brother played here.
  6. No clue, I wouldn’t imagine he’d draw the toughest assignment on defense. Purdue has made it work with Loyer who is a black hole defensively. Would be interesting to see Blackmon on the floor when he isn’t the opposing teams 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priority. Worst case he’s a shooter that spaces the floor but he was better than any single guard on this last years team.
  7. That’s BS. Blackmon against P5 opponents prior to yesterday: Houston #1 KenPom D: 4/13 3/7 from 3 11 points—guarded by Jamal Shead the best on-ball defender in college basketball UCF #17 KenPom D: 7/13 6/9 from 3 26 points in a game Stetson won Cincinnati #15 KenPom D: 10/22 5/12 from 3 32 points Dude can play. UConn is on a different level than any other team in the country and wasn’t going to let Blackmon get going.
  8. FAU had 2 fouls to give last possession of regulation…
  9. Still trying to figure out what FAU does on offense. This is painful basketball on both ends.
  10. Has a COVID year
  11. Does a kid with 3 years of eligibility remaining need to announce he's coming back?
  12. Still think Kansas can lose though tonight
  13. Stetson plays UConn tomorrow
  14. Wonder how Walker potentially impacts Cupps? I can't fathom IU would be bringing in Walker to start from day 1 and I'm not so sure you can play Walker (or Cupps) off the ball as part of your second unit. I think at this stage Walker is probably the better bet is as your 2nd PG, wondering if this would push out Cupps?
  15. I'm acknowledging that it would be a terrible plan if that's the route we take. Simply cannot play two bigs for extended minutes in this day in age of college basketball and expect to consistently win. It's maddening.
  16. It's nauseating. And watch him pivot too in a couple weeks. The narrative will go from "Woodson can't close" to "Well at the end of the day they are still being coached up by Woodson" after IU lands some good portal guards. Misery loves company I guess.
  17. If our plan is to go: Transfer PG Galloway Mgbako Reneau Transfer C God help us all. That transfer PG better be in contention for the Naismith and Mgbako has to become a two-way dog.
  18. I'm not on the staff, it's not my job to evaluate 1500 players. I'm simply pointing out your false rhetoric that good portal pieces exist outside the top 50. If the staff can't identify or evaluate a couple key guards in the portal this offseason we will almost assuredly struggle again next year.
  19. He always seemed to pick up dumb fouls too, not necessarily fouls because he was outmanned or overwhelmed ie reaching off ball, fouling a jump shooter because he was late to recover, etc.
  20. Cliff is the perfect fit for a true 4 out 1 in. Let him screen, crash the glass, and rim run in transition. But agreed he is not a player you can play 30 mpg with Reneau. Just doesn't work.
  21. I'm saying you need to put emphasis on 4-5 players (definitely two guards), you can obviously use your 11th, 12th, and 13th scholarship on depth pieces to use in emergency situations. But my comment is in regards to those suggesting that IU needs to sign 7 top portal players just to be competitive next year. I don't see it that way at all.
  22. Who said anything about top 50? Some of the best acquisitions in the portal didn't sniff the top 50: Per On3 -Marcus Domask #118 -Daniss Jenkins #139 -Hunter Sallis #194 -Ryan Conwell #182 -Cam Spencer unranked Pick any 2 of those players and IU is soundly in the tournament this year,
  23. My hope is the latter of the two.
  24. That's why the hysteria of needing 7-8 portal players is vastly overstated. Reality is that you have 3 players who are all capable of playing starters minutes (Galloway, MR, and MM) and a 4th in Cupps who can play backup PG minutes. Nobody plays an 11 man rotation, let alone a 13 man rotation, so the idea that IU needs 7 top portal players is just paranoia. You need two home run guards in the portal who can start, a backup big, and preferably a shooter off the bench. That's an 8 man rotation not including Leal or Newton...Leal showing he can at least provide serviceable minutes in emergency situations. Need 4-5 in the portal this year and can obviously take up to 6-7 need be.
  25. He's more suited guarding on the interior than he is chasing smaller and quicker players out on the perimeter and his lack of rebounding almost directly correlates with being out of position.
